The most unfortunate part of Alison’s character is that her relationship with Ray could’ve perfectly resolved all of her past trauma and issues. When she landed back in the 60’s (or whenever it was I can’t remember), she couldn’t talk and therefore couldn’t use her power to influence anybody. She was trapped in a time period where she was systemically oppressed and kept in a sub-human state, no superpowers to magically make everyone cater to her will and had to actually work and fight to get to the position she was in at that time. She also had to work really hard to get to this stage of her relationship with Ray too, not being able to force other people to love her and having to genuinely reach out and connect with others in order to build those bonds and breach those connections. Everything that Alison achieved in that season was a huge deal that showed what she was capable of doing as a person without using her powers, but having all of that ripped away from her again left a void in her heart that could easily be refilled by using her powers to get whatever she wants without having to take the time and effort to get it herself.
Fun fact: Reginald needed a minimum of 7 superpowered individuals to power the machine, and the opening narrative states "Sir Reginald Hargreeves set out to adopt as many children as he can", meaning that he wouldn't mind getting an eighth or ninth child if it means sacrificing just 7. Imagine if he only succeeded in adopting 6 or less children.
Then he wouldn't be able to be with his wife which is his ultimate plan. So, most likely he'll kill himself like what happend in Season 1 because Ben died and Five has gone missing.
The fact that he killed himself to unite the Umbrella Academy in spite of Ben and Five being gone also hints that he has knowledge of the whereabouts of at least two additional super powered beings, to stand in for them and bring the head count back up to seven.
I feel like it's a plot hole to have the children as crimefighters. Risking them dying like Ben as they fight criminals is too careless. Training them and keeping them save us the only thing he has to do to get to a universe where he has everything he ever wanted. Why risk that
Okay, looking at the comments I may be in the minority, but Diego caring for and loving Stanley as his own son was one of the most important character developing moments for Diego. He went from a “lone wolf” type, willing to die at any moment and who also cared about his family to a man who was solely focused on protecting the people he loved. Other than Klaus (and maybe Lila) he had the best emotional arc
He definitely didn’t care about him that much 😂 him and that other retard left that oblivion hotel without even knowing if Stanley was still in there and literally just forget about him after an episode. This whole show is just bad.
Personally, I liked what they did with Ben. I think their goal was to slowly reveal that he wasn't all that different from their Ben. He is different in some ways, but you have to remember that Umbrella Ben died so young and did most of his growing up as a spirit only able to interact with Klaus. I think his death really humbled him and being tied to Klaus specifically made him more responsible since he had no choice but to be witness to Klaus at his worst. He also is forced to be objective. He can't gain power or prestige as a spirit, so he lacks the motivations that new Ben is completely fixated on.
I actually think OG Ben, while treated like the most sane of the family, has issues as well. Ben and Klaus have a toxic codependent relationship. Ben will literally keep round Klaus constantly trying to help him out all the time and get him out of his ruts, but you realise that this isn't just cus he loves his brother, but because he has nowhere else to go. Reminds me of helper/caregiver types who kinda live through other people's lives because they're incapable of having one themselves, and this is their way of clinging on to the world, which is literally what is happening with Ben.
I genuinely looked past a random footloose dance off between grown people in this show, because the show is so insane and unpredictable. I think that says enough.
"And all their father and son bonding was meaningless" uhhh that is not what i took fromn that at alll.. it was SOOO important to Diego's character development, and not being biologically related does not make the bonding any less impactful???
i feel like allison being shitty isn't a problem with the show, it's her character, and it's gonna be a big thing next season. Her issues are her story, and her terrible actions are showing just what happens to a "decent person" when pushed to a breaking point.
And to be fair, Alison was never really a great person. She got her career and her family using her power. In the comics, she also rumoured Luther to have a crush on her, and her husband to be with her. Season 1 begins with her *trying to be better*. None of the siblings are really great lol.
yeah but she was just like so bad that season, at a certain point its just frustrating to watch her make the most selfish decisions over and over. i get that was the point but i just felt it was repetitive
@@panonymousbloom5405 yeah, her husband at least in the show as well "I heard a rumor" has this when Allison is driving, hearing all the rumors that made her this way
Honestly, rewatching the show I'm seeing a lot of parallels between Alison and Klaus' with Alison being addicted to her powers and even relapsing alongside Klause in season 2 episodes 5 & 6
i think everyone overlooks how allison basically had the intent to 𝒓𝒂𝒑𝒆 luther .from that momeng i knew her being anything but a villain woild be a mistake in future seasons
I actually saw a great explanation for that, though idk if canon. She didn't actually mean to SA him. She wanted him to *need* her, not $exually, just overall, because she missed him being there always for her. (And idk, none of the siblings are good people. If it comes to consent issues alone, hello Klaus and him constantly sleeping with his cult. 😭)
@@panonymousbloom5405true but Klaus wasn’t under false pretences Plus Klaus is a party boy/hippie girl hybrid I think he has belief in some of the stuff he told them he wasn’t like “I need the sex for a ritual” he was just like… “unrelated to the cult shit, you wanna have sex?” “Also I’m Ben, I will be chaperoning this fine evening 😅”
@@panonymousbloom5405 if that IS true then allison is even worse, because she didn't even want him, she just wanted to friendzone him. (also i don'T realy see any consent issues with klaus and his cult, they clearly agreed to being in a weird sex and drugs cult.)
This should have so much more views! I had the same thoughts about Allison, I hope she gets character development in the next season and not another spin on her circle of abuse/depression. Klaus is by far my favorite character and I an also so happy they kept his hair long.
Also, I for me in the end it felt like the sparrows only got created to get a Ben back to the umbrellas. Most of them really died too fast (or the season just had not enough episodes).
I'm not sure if you saw S4 yet so spoilers, but: Ray being too good for Allison is spot on, and I was happy when it was revealed he left her. Because that was honestly what she deserved. I mean, this was one of the people standing up during the segregation era. He's a brave man who stands up for the weak. Harlan's murder is a great example of how Allison is actually the opposite. He was autistic and lost control of his powers because he was disabled and had a moment of helplessness. As someone on the spectrum myself, the idea of getting murdered for something that is out of my control feels like a hate crime. I can understand Allison was grieving because it meant Claire never existed, but expecting a disabled person not to feel overwhelmed and helpless to the very core of their being when their caretaker dies on top of the grief is inhumane. Ray would have understood that, especially in a more modern era where most people have a clue about what autism is. Allison only wanted to be great and be part of something great at the end of the day. She has an ego with the size of Tokyo.
Allison is just the type of person that can not have power. money, status, superpowers, whatever. i think we see that she will always be prone to abusing it. Ray liked that she was headstrong and confident, but when they met, she had no power to take advantage of. when he noticed her start trying to use her power, he got very uncomfortable, because his wife kept a major secret from him until it benefited her. it would've been nice if we got four more episodes to explore this in s4.
Klaus is my favorite character, alongside 5, and I do believe they had to make him charmingly unbearable to nerf his character. If he was more like 5, he'd probably be too powerful
For that one sparrow who reflects pain, he is probably used as a meat shield, either willingly or trained, and that’s why his face is messed up. It might not be reflection but mirroring the punches back. Less of a rebound and more of a punch back
I love how you included so much information about the show. I definitely agree with the points you made in this video and I wish we could've learned more about the Sparrows Academy's past and powers because it felt like they were used as more of a distraction from the Kugelblitz than anything. I still enjoyed seeing the relationship between them and the Umbrella and their appearance was an awesome twist at the end of season 2. I've never seen a film pull off so many twists and turns and I feel like they did a great job at adding in a lot of wacky moments. Another thing I love about the Umbrella Academy is how no matter the amount of trauma and bad news that's added into the show, there's always enough humour and heartfelt moments that make it so much more enjoyable! I hope season 4 is approved by Netflix soon because I cannot wait to see how the Umbrella Academy does without their powers! Thank you for reviewing season 3 :)
This video was spot on!! especially everything you said about Allison, it just became hard to watch her scenes. It was so bad I wondered if they were purposely developing her to be a possible villain or something. Like there no growth in her character or anything, she's so incredibly unlikable, which is not so bad since all shows need villains, but there's no creativity in the writing of her character. also since they can share powers ,I wonder will she be the link in giving powers back to Vicktor or the others.
This season was weaker but I still love the show, especially Diego Lila and Klaus, they kept me entertained. A prime example of what you say, the humor hiding it's flaws. Edit: 26:55 lol Diego definitely needed a haircut, but Allison didn't, her season 1 hair was the prettiest and I also liked Klaus better with short hair 🤷🏽♀️ although he does have beautiful long hair, his season 1 style was iconic.
one thing i can get over with Viktor’s transition is how almost everyone says something like “nice haircut” …when it’s not. that’s straight up how my hair looked in 5th grade and i can’t get past it.
It’s kind of perfect for this show that half of the characters plot lines are about forgiving and reconnecting with their father so they can move on and become more mature adults (Diego, Luther and Klaus) and it’s all for nothing as Reggie betrays or murders all of his kids proving they were right to begin with for hold that grudge
@dysmissme7343 Most people I've talked too have 2 theories: 1) Five had already disappeared when they were named, because Grace named them when they were teenagers, or 2) Five choose to keep his number as his name, because he didn't see the appeal of a 'real' name
a lot of amish people speak pennsylvanian dutch thus the germanic name would still make sense! i doubt it could be a nod to his origins likely being german or swiss german like the majority of the amish but it would be sweet to imagine it nonetheless
This was an excellent look at the show, and you truly picked up on what a lot of the fans picked up on and went more in depth with. Well done. This show has been a fun and truly poignant story for so many fans and you really dug in and shared the right moments and stories. I hope more people see this and watch the show as well and I can't wait for your take on the final season. It's going to be a hard one, but you've definitely proven that you really care about it and will do it right. Huge thanks to you.
Your Steve Harrington video did very well because it catered to the RUclips Algorithm, whether it was on purpose or accident. You can keep the momentum going if you're able to make videos on the right topics. Your videos are very good and well made and I know you can blow up in views and subscribers.
I might be the only one who likes how allisons acts in season 3, Allison was always shown to be someone who is very emotional, and so when she finds out that she lost both her daughter and the guy she loved of course she would act in a very emotional way, she is not analytical at all when she let's her emotions out and so that results in her actively making everything worst
While I find where her character went very interesting, she was the least emotional of the group at the start, except for vanya, who’s completely closed off and on meds. Diego and Luther were easy to move to anger, and five too, claus and Diego seem to have very sensitive sides to them as well. When they first meet, while Allison can be snappy, she’s the most well put together and acts very collected overall, unlike her brothers
@@eulyc.959that’s an act. We saw Allison post realising her powers were making her worse. But in season 2, we saw a glimpse of how she’d abuse her power
I like it too, she self destructing so hard and, if I lost my husband and daughter? Maybe I’d have a villain arc too. I like when people are written messy and complicated.
@@mujiescomedy279 in season 2? When does she abuse her power in season 2? We saw some of the consequences of how she abused it in the past, but season 2 she does not. Anyone she uses it against in season 2 is well earned and well deserved. In 3 she did start becoming messy, but in 2 and 1, she was pretty mature compared to her siblings
@@eulyc.959 in season 2 she would have ended up killing the racist shopkeeper if she hadn’t been stopped. Racists are terrible, but they don’t deserve the death penalty, so yes, she abused her power
Its funny how you consider each character with such depth and acknowledge their flaws and weaknesses in light of their complexity until we get to Allison. Then, you just start slagging her off. I agree the switch from little miss sunshine in season 2 to the cynical character she becomes in season 3 isnt brilliantly executed, but who she is in season 3 does not make her a terrible person, i'd argue. She is doing bad things because of her greif and loss, and she undeniably lost more than her siblings throughout the series- i mean, her CHILD, for crying out loud- and none of them appear to show any sympathy. We witness the power going to her head as a result of her loss of control over her life, after losing Ray and Claire, and never is this portrayed as a good thing. Broken people can do terrible things. What she did to Luther was horrific, but i dont believe it consigns her to being the 2 dimensional "baddie" of the season. He deserves an apology and she needs to regain his trust. You skip over the fact that she does not in fact make a deal with Reggie just because of her own selfish and evil reasons- she makes him promise no harm would come to her siblinhs, and when she sees he is hurting them, she tries to stop him. This reminds us that she is good at heart, but was blinded by her greif in that moment of making the deal. Well done on the rest of the video, it was very perceptive- i just wish you would have extended some of that to Allisoms character. I find people can be quick to label female, black characters as evil or annoying. I doubt this was concious of you and i understand your arguments entirely, you still have the right to your opinions and no personal beef for holding them, i was just offering another perspective.
i agree, she's a very interesting character if not likeable, she's been a (somewhat) consistently selfish character who thinks of herself as a voice of reason despite being someone who acts on her emotions most of the time. she's an antagonist who makes big choices and pushes the plot along, even if they're very frustrating choices for the viewer. one issue i have is how the hell they're gonna handle her character in s4 (haven't watched yet) and whether they're gonna brush it off and maybe have the siblings be a little awkward and then move on or actually show the consequences of her actions,,,,
I love that you used the always sunny in Philadelphia Outro song, when explaining Alison this season. Because she’s been the worst but like with always sunny, none of the characters come off as amazing people),showing a character can have a layer or two of shit (,. Sometimes being the worst at times gives the plot more interest. Glad she didn’t go true with the r word/.
I may be in the minority but I really dislike seasons 2 & 3. I think season 2 was decent but foreshadowed the issues in season 3; the more grounded, serious topics would be overshadowed by the whacky funny moments. Season 3 really didnt give enough time to some of the more darker storylines. For example, The Umbrellas vs. The Sparrows had great potential of confronting the differences between the success and failures of the different teams, especially since Ben was still alive. I feel like his death was not explored enough via the other characters; Luther, Diego, Allison, and Four had not seen their brother for a very long time, and in the case of the first three, he had been dead to them because of their failings as a team and family. But there is barely any emotional moments between them, until the last few episodes, and even then, Ben's interactions with the brellies are played for comedy more than emotional turmoil. And the relationships between characters, as well as their relationships with the supporting characters, was either shallow or very rushed. It felt like the showrunners needed the plot to progress as quickly as possible, and so the characters would act in almost unbelievable ways just to make it happen. The Umbrella's have gone through 2 seasons of character development with each other, learning how to be closer as a family and team. And suddenly, with almost no effort on the other characters parts, they are back to their petty squabbles from season 1. I would have been fine with them regressing if it was done as a ploy by other characters, or if it was a test to their previous arcs, but its not. Most of it is for plot convenience or for laughs. Its frustrating. And then there's the characters individual arcs. Allison is definitely the most egregious, with her becoming incredibly volatile at the drop of a hat, with no emotional build-up. Don't even get me started on her and Luther. Also, her power is... So fucking underutilised. I feel like the writers realised she couldve ended the season in five minutes so they had her character turn hostile and petty. But I digress. Allison in season 1 showed remorse for what she did to Victor, even though Vic slit her throat (accidentally). Allison in season 2 wanted to be apart of something more honourable and greater than her previous life as an Umbrella Hero (which I believe was done both for selfish and selfless reasons but I wont rant about here). Allison in season 3 *checks notes* deliberately provoked the Sparrows despite knowing they were dangerous, sa'd Luther, was incredibly hostile to Victor and killed his situationships lovechild out of misplaced revenge, fought tooth and nail against her siblings, and sided with her abusive dad to end the world. Like... What the fuck is this progression??? Ben's loss of leadership wouldve been really cool to see. Wouldve given a great arc to how Ben views his family as competition whereas the Umbrellas (with the exception of Klaus) had remembered him as their brother. Just... ugh. Missed potential at its finest. Viktors transition was the fucking best. My little queer heart exploded with happiness. Luther and Sloane was rushed imo, way to quickly developed I felt nothing for it. Diego needed more. Five was... Actually, he was okay. Klaus needed his immortality to be taken more seriously. The pain of dying and resurecting is an amazing concept, and they played it for laughs. I miss the days of season 1 and 2 where his powers felt grounded and his turbulent relationship with them felt genuine. Sparrows were boring, needed way more time and development. Ill end my rant here because I can go on and on about how season 3 was not very good (again, my opinion) but this is already very long.
@@lonelygamer2706 I feel you. Season two had some really great moments but imo, it was loosing the previous grounded identity presented in season 1. I don't enjoy it as much as season 1 but it's still leagues above season 3. I get some people really enjoy Umbrella Academy for the comedy, and there's nothing wrong with that at all. My issue comes from when the other enjoyable aspects of the show - like the serious darker narratives and nuanced character arcs - are lost just so the humour and wackiness can be elevated.
This is literally my favorite show of all time. It's fun, quirky, and has a great story. I've heard a lot of people say season 3 wasn't good, but that's crazy talk to me. It's just a complicated story. and its linear, compared to the other seasons. Each character didn't really have their own major sub-plot like before, but I don't mind that. More time to focus on the main story. I honestly thought it was funny how complicated the plot can be. I remembered two times me and my brother actually laughed at what a mind fuck some of it was. That being when it was revealed five founded the commission and the grandfather paradox scene. Whenever you're watching a show about time travel, you gotta suspend your disbelief. I'm already watching a show that has characters with crazy super powers, so I've suspended my disbelief already. Sure, there are a few plot holes here and there, but nothing major and story breaking. Season 2 is one of the best seasons of any show I've ever seen and I can't wait for the final season. I hope they are long episodes like stranger things 4, but I doubt it.
I really wish that Season 3 had more nods and relation to Season 1 since it takes place supposedly in the same time. Like what if characters and subplots from Season 1 came back here? It would've been cool to see maybe Harold as a Sparrow in this alternative timeline or still the same conniving stalker but towards the Sparrow team. Something like that would've been interesting and challenged the character's development from back in season 1 to this season
feeling cognitively dissonant with this review, I think a lot of people may be letting their personal relatability to Allison cloud the comic book creator and show writers' intention for the character. it's not an objectively flawed decision to make a good character bad from a mental break; in fact I'd go so far to say that she's one of the most believable antagonists on the show. we saw allison at her peak and greatest in season 1, but since then *everything* she's worked for from before the show when she was a child to all the way through seasons 1-3 was ripped away from her. This *doesn't* justify her actions in any sense, but we've personally watched her slowly reach her breaking point over the course of the show. This to me, is *good* writing, and a *good* character, even if her character is antagonistic and morally horrific.
yeah i will say she's been a (somewhat) consistently selfish character who parades as the voice of reason, which she probably believes is really what she is. very interesting character bc she actually does stuff, even if they're really shitty
I have to say I loved Ben this season. He’s always been my favourite character and I don’t think new Ben will ever be better (unless he’s the same person, which is a theory I have). Also, I love the relationship he had with Klaus. No one can tell me that they didn’t sleep together at the wedding. It also raises questions about Ben and Klaus’ relationship in the original timeline.
I think the problem with Allison is not her "switch" but that she has 0 growth over the series. think about it. she starts out as someone who made the universe the way she wanted it to be with her powers, she made her carreer that way, it is even shown in a flashback that she forced her first husband to love her with her i heard a rumor thing. that she makes claire sleepy is the least of her crimes. In season 2 she has no power, so she settles into a normal life. as soon as she can mold the universe again to her likes she does. and without thinking about others at all. otherwise she would have improved the world for others as well. Even ray, who she says she loves - he ACTIVELY said no to coming to her to the future, because his fight is in the 60s. and what does she do? she forces him into another time, out of his life, away from his family, just like she scolded 5 for doing with her. and without batting an eye. no wonder he leaves her. she never loved him truly. she doesn't love anybody just herself. and whenever some of that comes back to her, she finds excuses on blaming others, never herself. She could have killed vanya in season 1 and stopped the apocalypse. she never says that. just that it's vanyas fault it happened and 5s fault that they are in the 60s. and she just keeps on doing her thing. She is a bad character because she never changes. And you could do that - but the show is not aware of this. and THIS is the biggest flaw of all this.
i really liked allison’s character in seasons 1 and 2. she takes the cake for the most morally egregious and corrupting power amongst the family and in season 1, you really see her trying to do better. yes, she loses her temper at viktor multiple times, makes other mistakes but still ends up taking responsibility almost every time and tries to do right by the people around her, then season 2 happens and she has a chance to build a new life, one she really earns and values a lot. i found her arc in season 3 to be disappointing, not because i don’t understand the grief she’s going through but because i feel like, with the luther scene, they push her past a certain line that i don’t think you can fully redeem a character from (attempted sa on your brother). i can see her character relapsing into old habits, sure, but it’s unsatisfying to see her go that downhill after everything she worked for. honour and dignity, man
The dance off was the best scene of season 3 and as wacky as the show is I still didn't think it would be a dream sequence lmao 😂 Season 1 is my fave it just felt the most coherent the most umbrella academy feeling season and the characters all shone. I don't think it's ever recaptured that for me though I'm still here and still gonna watch the final series because it's just such a different and crazy show.
Yk i kinda hope Allison gets a redemption arc in s4 like what i want is Allison becomes like a villan for a bit and then give her a redeemable arc yk also ik that old man was harlen bc the first time we see him in s3 we see him put on headphones and harlen loved music so that was kinda a hint
Shh...shhh stop questioning, enjoy the content To actually try to answer, either you can chop it to him having died so many times his name has gotten around or ghosts just know your name.
Awesome video. Can't get enough of the Umbrella Academy. Also, I have a question: If Klaus couldn't stop David from enrolling in the army, therefore he died, why couldn't he summon his spirit? I meaan, it makes sense that doesn't happen in season 3, since Klaus formed a bond with the David from the first timeline not the second... BUT I don't get it why he didn't do it in season 1, when he was still in the first timeline.
he didn't summon him in in season 1 because he was too high. he did summon him in the episode that he got clean but then time was reversed by five so it never happened. I think he might have gotten clean in the last couple episodes but I guess at that point he was too busy trying to save the world
I actually didn't interpret the ending as Alison having changed the new universe to get Ray and Claire back - I always thought that she ended up dying and that this was her heaven. We saw that people all have their own heavens; a world that they want to live in all for themselves. And for Alison, that was living with both Ray and Claire
I completely forgot about Stanley until you brought him up. It’s wierd that they never brought him up and they don’t bother looking for him in the new timeline
Wow Allison is not as bad as this video makes her seem. She started using her powers again to save her husband Ray not because she wasn't happy with how her life was going. She was traumatized because she gets back to her time and her only child is gone. Of course she was hurt and willing to do anything to get her daughter back. Did I like how she handled things all the time no but I understood.
Ben was been like this for years, he’s going really in just a few days. I think feel ordered foils in the family. Luther and Diego Allison and Klaus And Ben and Viktor.
I disagree with the notion that protecting an arguably innocent person is selfish, while the rest of the entire cast is selfishly prioritizing petty vengeance over the fate of reality. Victor and Harlan both did almost nothing wrong intentionally.
Alison's character assassination is probably the worst part of the show so far, and the main reason I won't be watching season 4. It's just lazy, lazy writing. Also the other ridiculous thing about the Diego/Stanley plotline is that Diego and Lila are both brown people??? There's no way an ethnic person is going to look at that pale child and not be completely suspicious. I rolled my eyes and knew that kid wasn't going to be his the second he entered the scene. Great video btw! I always appreciate people who are able to look critically at the shows they love and I feel like I was taking crazy pills when I saw how many people were loving on this season uncritically. Hope you get many more views and subs
You have to consider both of them having a kid that is 1/4 Indian and Latino but also half ✨ like if the kid doesn’t come out ✨ I’m not questioning it 😭
I recognize this show has flaws and doesn’t handle ALL the scenarios it gives appropriately but regardless of that I think I still need to watch this again. By the way, has it been confirmed for a fourth season? I find it unlikely but I’d certainly welcome it.🙂 Well don’t I look silly… apparently the next season was announced about a month ago 😂
I also started watching umbrealla academy cos robert sheern was in it (probably spelt his surname wrong again lol) i also first saw him in misfits isnt it funny he says "im immortal" in both programs lol

Original Time, Original Mindset, to put it into a correct-sounding saying.
Actually even after she got her voice and her powers back she still did not use them until she felt like Ray's life was in danger.

i usualy don't like the "here is a kid, go deal with it" trope but they managed to make it realy entertaining
8:25 “so sensible that they had to kill him off…” just took me out😹🤦🏼♀️
IKR brilliant commentary
I genuinely looked past a random footloose dance off between grown people in this show, because the show is so insane and unpredictable. I think that says enough.
and the fact it was only a dream of diegos aswell
The dream made me go damn I wanted to see how the dance was gonna end
I really liked this scene, i would have been sad if it wasn't there
I fully thought that was just actually happening,
I genuinely forgot about it. It felt so normally placed….
@@panonymousbloom5405 She also did both those rumours in Series 1 and 3. Husband was rumoured, as heard in Series 1, Series 3 was the obvious one.
i think everyone overlooks how allison basically had the intent to 𝒓𝒂𝒑𝒆 luther .from that momeng i knew her being anything but a villain woild be a mistake in future seasons
I’m afraid they’re doing exactly that in season 4.
@@panonymousbloom5405true but Klaus wasn’t under false pretences Plus Klaus is a party boy/hippie girl hybrid I think he has belief in some of the stuff he told them he wasn’t like “I need the sex for a ritual” he was just like…
“unrelated to the cult shit, you wanna have sex?”
“Also I’m Ben, I will be chaperoning this fine evening 😅”
@@marcosortega3350I pray they don’t
I'm not sure if you saw S4 yet so spoilers, but:
Ray being too good for Allison is spot on, and I was happy when it was revealed he left her.
You were so right about Ray being too good for her that he divorced her a year after s3 ended in the timeline.
Most Amish speak a dialect of German called Pennsylvania German, so Klaus being a German name does make sense
Klaus is my favorite character, alongside 5, and I do believe they had to make him charmingly unbearable to nerf his character. If he was more like 5, he'd probably be too powerful
Watching this after season 4 is honestly heartbreaking 😭
Its pretty disappointing that they never made a season 4 😔
Yeah I wonder what it would’ve been like… 💀💀💀
@@destinystarrr_I’m glad there is no season 4 it would’ve been terrible 😭
I'm glad they didn't stretch it out, 3 seasons is enough!
For that one sparrow who reflects pain, he is probably used as a meat shield, either willingly or trained, and that’s why his face is messed up. It might not be reflection but mirroring the punches back. Less of a rebound and more of a punch back
"klaus's ongoing luscious hair stuck around" im gonna hold your hand when i tell you this
I love how you included so much information about the show.
Klaus was named by Grace so as we found out in season 1 episode 1 so his name wouldn’t be part of where he was from
It absolutely could. Look at viktors deadname. It was Russian because he was born in Russia.
Didn't amish communities originated as German immigrants?
@@tamagochi_egg true, but also my comment was from a while ago, and also Diego is Mecican
Edit:
26:55 lol Diego definitely needed a haircut, but Allison didn't, her season 1 hair was the prettiest and I also liked Klaus better with short hair 🤷🏽♀️ although he does have beautiful long hair, his season 1 style was iconic.
one thing i can get over with Viktor’s transition is how almost everyone says something like “nice haircut” …when it’s not. that’s straight up how my hair looked in 5th grade and i can’t get past it.
It looks better in season 4. That might be the only good thing about that abomination
Oh my god😂
god, no wonder why s4 wasn't good. they sucked all the life out of the show and it was no longer fun. leaving a bloated corpse in its wake.
S4 has a lot of plot holes, I totally forgot how season three ended.
yeah like where’d sloane go 😭😭
SAME 💀💀
@@sweetiepie7917 AND WHY DOESNT ALLISON HAVE POWERS AT FIRST WHEN SHE DIDNT GET HER MARIGOLD TAKEN? 😭
There is no s4
Great video! The only comment I would make is, Grace was the one who named all the Umbrellas, including Klaus (10:17), not his biological mother.
Oh!
Did she just skip over naming five then? Or did the naming happen once they were already older??
@dysmissme7343 Most people I've talked too have 2 theories: 1) Five had already disappeared when they were named, because Grace named them when they were teenagers, or 2) Five choose to keep his number as his name, because he didn't see the appeal of a 'real' name
a lot of amish people speak pennsylvanian dutch thus the germanic name would still make sense! i doubt it could be a nod to his origins likely being german or swiss german like the majority of the amish but it would be sweet to imagine it nonetheless
@@st4rz.of.perdition I thought every one of their names was
This was an excellent look at the show, and you truly picked up on what a lot of the fans picked up on and went more in depth with.
Your Steve Harrington video also did well because it was hella good by the way. I don't want to minimize your effort on that video.
I personally liked the Stanley & Diego plot line.
Overall love the video.
I doubt this was concious of you and i understand your arguments entirely, you still have the right to your opinions and no personal beef for holding them, i was just offering another perspective.
i agree, she's a very interesting character if not likeable, she's been a (somewhat) consistently selfish character who thinks of herself as a voice of reason despite being someone who acts on her emotions most of the time. she's an antagonist who makes big choices and pushes the plot along, even if they're very frustrating choices for the viewer. one issue i have is how the hell they're gonna handle her character in s4 (haven't watched yet) and whether they're gonna brush it off and maybe have the siblings be a little awkward and then move on or actually show the consequences of her actions,,,,
@@kayvcx-ib2pe yeah they totally brushed it off
I love that you used the always sunny in Philadelphia Outro song, when explaining Alison this season.
This is so REAL. When I say “I love the umbrella academy!” I only mean s1 (+maybe klaus’s solo comic)… bc I pretty much despise the other seasons
@@lonelygamer2706
I feel you.
Your comment on Ben dying as the fault of the Umbrella Academy aged poorly with S4's reveal how he really died though.
@@inferiorinferno8859
See, I was under the assumption the show would care about continuity. Apparently fucking not. Jeeze season 4 is my beloathed.
I hope they are long episodes like stranger things 4, but I doubt it.
would love to see your take on season 4
not super important at all, but Amish people speak 'Pennsylvanian German' so it does make perfect sense for Klaus to be called Klaus.
So, how does The Umbrella Academy use fun to hide its flaws?
This is the recap is needed for s4
Laughs knowing season four completely goes off plot
Here after season 4.
Now i miss season 3. Wasnt that bad....
No NO SEASON FOUR DOESNT EXIST!?! IT ENDS AT THREE NO SUCH THING AS FOUR!
I'm so happy someone finally made a video about this
Ngl it all feels like a fever dream. There’s parts that I’m like nah that didn’t happen but it did lols
I can't stop watching Umbrella Academy anything. I love Five & Lila. "Chris is a fucking cube."....hilarious commentary.
You're so underrated!! These videos are amazing and they deserve more views!
I also noticed the parallel between Misfits and TUA. Nathan is totally what I would expect young Klaus to be like:D
Video quality is very high! Impressive for such a small creator. Keep up the good work!
i really liked allison’s character in seasons 1 and 2. she takes the cake for the most morally egregious and corrupting power amongst the family and in season 1, you really see her trying to do better. yes, she loses her temper at viktor multiple times, makes other mistakes but still ends up taking responsibility almost every time and tries to do right by the people around her, then season 2 happens and she has a chance to build a new life, one she really earns and values a lot.
i found her arc in season 3 to be disappointing, not because i don’t understand the grief she’s going through but because i feel like, with the luther scene, they push her past a certain line that i don’t think you can fully redeem a character from (attempted sa on your brother). i can see her character relapsing into old habits, sure, but it’s unsatisfying to see her go that downhill after everything she worked for. honour and dignity, man
The dance off was the best scene of season 3 and as wacky as the show is I still didn't think it would be a dream sequence lmao 😂 Season 1 is my fave it just felt the most coherent the most umbrella academy feeling season and the characters all shone. I don't think it's ever recaptured that for me though I'm still here and still gonna watch the final series because it's just such a different and crazy show.
What a great refresher for the new season! I could use a video like this before every season of my fave series
How does Klaus’s mother know his name when it is stated in the first season that grace named all the kids
Shh...shhh stop questioning, enjoy the content
To actually try to answer, either you can chop it to him having died so many times his name has gotten around or ghosts just know your name.
Well…uhm… so season four-
Awesome video. Can't get enough of the Umbrella Academy.
Also, I have a question:
If Klaus couldn't stop David from enrolling in the army, therefore he died, why couldn't he summon his spirit?
I meaan, it makes sense that doesn't happen in season 3, since Klaus formed a bond with the David from the first timeline not the second... BUT
I don't get it why he didn't do it in season 1, when he was still in the first timeline.
In season 1, he was too high to summon him.
spirits eventually cross over to heaven like 'good' ben does in season 2
he didn't summon him in in season 1 because he was too high. he did summon him in the episode that he got clean but then time was reversed by five so it never happened. I think he might have gotten clean in the last couple episodes but I guess at that point he was too busy trying to save the world

9:04 they were prepared to write a much longer season and Netflix should have let them🤷🏼♀️😹
I actually didn't interpret the ending as Alison having changed the new universe to get Ray and Claire back - I always thought that she ended up dying and that this was her heaven. We saw that people all have their own heavens; a world that they want to live in all for themselves. And for Alison, that was living with both Ray and Claire
I completely forgot about Stanley until you brought him up. It’s wierd that they never brought him up and they don’t bother looking for him in the new timeline
Your videos are very high quality love your videos keep it up
In season 1, i assumed klaus died and was revived from cpr since we see a person sit up when he comes back, so it makes sense either way
Lol you said Victor and i was confused i realized im the only person who calls him Vic lol
Can't wait to see what you say about s4...
One of my favorite channels. Great video keep it up...
5 was the only one who had any focus
Enjoy the video very much. Don't usually comment, but figured this time I would, since it helps with the algorithm
Ben was been like this for years, he’s going really in just a few days.
I think feel ordered foils in the family.

Allison and Klaus
And Ben and Viktor.
Other than the dance, the other hilarious scene is Klaus playing 'catch' with his dad.
You mean bus ball
Algorithm comment because your channel is seriously underrated
i don't think it is a plot hole five found him dead, like he has a respawn time, it could have just been that
10:15 a lot of Dutch and German settlers make up those communities in Pennsylvania and New York
Klaus is literally the walking personification of Rumspringa like an Amish Dionysus 😭
Why no one is talking about the change of goatie of Reggie when he kills Luther?
What flaws? I’M HAVING FUN!
Very well done video, you should get lots of views on this season 3 review.
I disagree with the notion that protecting an arguably innocent person is selfish, while the rest of the entire cast is selfishly prioritizing petty vengeance over the fate of reality.
Victor and Harlan both did almost nothing wrong intentionally.
Well...
You have to consider both of them having a kid that is 1/4 Indian and Latino but also half ✨ like if the kid doesn’t come out ✨ I’m not questioning it 😭
I do like this show but the dance scene in the beginning was really a poor attempt at manufacturing a viral moment and it still bothers me.
Have you ever noticed that the order of ages of the characters are reverse the order for their actor's ages?
Allison needs a redemption arc ❤❤❤
The most unfortunate part of this show is that every line of dialogue makes me cringe out of my mind like it’s from a wattpad comic
I literally only watched for Robert sheehan x
*Sheehan?
I recognize this show has flaws and doesn’t handle ALL the scenarios it gives appropriately but regardless of that I think I still need to watch this again. By the way, has it been confirmed for a fourth season? I find it unlikely but I’d certainly welcome it.🙂
Well don’t I look silly…
apparently the next season was announced about a month ago 😂
Yeah hahaha, next season is coming in like two weeks
Great breakdown
*me trying to make my parents watch season three of umbrella academy before i come out- *
Will you be doing a review of season 4??
I also started watching umbrealla academy cos robert sheern was in it (probably spelt his surname wrong again lol) i also first saw him in misfits isnt it funny he says "im immortal" in both programs lol
How funny i just got to the bit where you said the same thing as I commented at the start of the video about the link between both being immortal lol
yup. pretty much
Luther better than Marcus I think lol
Commenting for the algorithm
ALLISON IS THE WORSTTTTTTTTTTTTT IN EVERY FU*KING SEASON!
She is horrific in each one and I cannot stand her behaviour and how she just gets away with it
Also commenting for the algorithm
26:55 well that aged poorly
its*
diego votes no to show lila that he isn't her loyal slave, she doesn't get to command him around. imo he is bluffing here.
its, not it's, the title reads as "hide it is flaws"
Not anymore
@@LDFab69 that means this creator reads their comments, which is always a good sign
Do you believe It will continue?
