      Americans are not brothers and sisters of us. They are inferiors, who have much to learn. They suck. We do not. This is how you extinguish a fire. Not by standing around doing nothing. But by actually doing something.

But you are right, everyone is critical about this, but they would piss their pants if they actually did the - voluntary, 80% of the dutch fire department is not on a payroll - work these men are doing. But situations like this are rare, and there is something going on that we are not seeing. My best guess is the presence of asbestos.

      A warehouse full of refrigerated rooms (whose walls are made of polyurethane foam), full with tens of thousands of flower bulbs packaged in plastic bags in wood boxes on plastic pallets. The fireman couldn't find out where the fire was located in all the smoke, until the whole warehouse was full of high temperature smoke and not to be saved anymore. They switched to Damage control mode, to save what can reasonably be saved.

      The dutch approach is: What's the problem? How to solve it without spoiling energy/water and riscing lives? THINK BEFORE ACTING!
      This is not the US where they start running around and spoil energy in fighting fire in an already lost building iso protecting adjacent building.

      75% of their firefighters are volunteers which I think means less cohesion and a smaller group of firefighters with experience. Overall they did a good job. No one was injured or killed. I like that they opened every door and made a plan for where to start fighting the fire. I like their methodical approach for firefighting and the helmets they use seem to be more practical than those of most fire departments here. The built in visors are a great idea and the helmet protects their head in a fall and from strikes by falling objects.

    • @kop-uv2dx
      @kop-uv2dx 8 месяцев назад

      according to several other videos there were materials in the building (wooden pallets, plant bulbs etc) that won't be easily put out with all the water in the world... in the Netherlands, once it's known that such materials are present in the fire focus shifts to saving surrounding areas & buildings and let the fire burn itself out in a controlled manner (pulling down a building next to the fire to create a fire stop-line, thus saving the rest of the property, is a conscious choice made in such situations)....

      Typical American. Hasn't a clue. We've seen American fire fighters running around like headless chickens. No one except the Americans make holes in roofs and smash every window in the building. American fire fighters philosophy make lots of hole so we can feed the fire with more oxygen.

    •  Год назад

      Ventilation is a question once the fire is out, to remove the smoke. While there is still fire, adding ventilation only makes the fire even worse. When you can't locate the fire but the smoke is already everywhere at high temperature, just shut off everything you can and cool down what can be saved to avoid the fire spread more than necessary.

      What is your evaluation of the materials on fire in the warehouse ? You know, in some cases there is just not any chance to put the fire down even with all the water of the world. In such industrial warehouses it does quickly become Damage Control mode : protect what can be saved and let the fire burn what can't be saved...

    • @kop-uv2dx
      @kop-uv2dx 8 месяцев назад

      @ according to a video from a different fire brigade also present at this fire there were loads of wooden pallets and plant bulbs in the burning warehouse... those are usually left to burn themselves out in a controlled manner, with the focus on saving the surrounding area... the destruction of the next warehouse was to create a fire stop-line... (this was explained in the other video)...

      there are lots and lots of protocols that have to be followed... personal safety is most important, and certain types of fires are left to burn themselves out in a controlled manner, hence needing just the area on this side (and as per several other videos, plenty of capacity on the other side of the building)... judging from just 1 video is about the worst thing you can do...
