This is why I love all those insulated bottles because it’s not just for drinking stuff but for meals too. Great vid!

When we are doing a field radio drill for CERT group I like to make steel cut oats (oatmeal). I preheat it like you show with boiling water & make sure it stays in for at least 10-15 minutes. Then pour water out. Put in 1/4 cup of steel cut oats into thermos, then 3/4 cup of boiling water. Put plug in & put cap on. Put on side & slowly roll at least once around. You want to be sure it has rolled around enough to fully get all the oats wet. Then I set it on its side on passenger seat of vehicle & turn thermos 1/4 turn every 10 or so minutes. Should make a cup or so of oatmeal. You can stir in some chopped nuts & fruit like an apricot or raisins. I like steel cut oats but works fine with rolled oats with same ratio of oats to water.

Try using the powdered cheese "Cheese Blend" it works out more to my liking when making things like this. You might want to add a bit of dried milk and butter to get the consistency just right. Enjoyed the video.

I had already bought some thermos to pre soak beans in hot water for several hours. I had not thought about whole meals. My thinking was just to pre soak so you don't waste precious fuel in SHTF. I have a rocket stove and over 100 hours of propane for stealth cooking.

Until I moved to Nevada, I was the same way, everyone would show stuff they found in thrift stores and all I ever saw was crummy old clothing and broken TVs lol I know the feeling. For some reason this Goodwill always has camping and outdoor gear, Heck I got a 100 dollar Coleman gas lantern for 8 bucks there a few months ago (did a vid on it) Its been amazing.. my friend and I compare deals we find in there over the week when we see one another.
