Thank you so much for this. I'm the point parent for 3, AuHD, and had diverticulitis. Thing 2 had colic and screamed his head off for 6 months from 6pm to 2am every damn day (thankfully he's 11 now but I'm not sure I ever dealt with the trauma). Surgery for the diverticulitis and CoPilot have helped me too, categorizing walking as stimming really helped me, and a weighted vest helps me both with strength building and regulating. I'm building a bunch of muscle, and losing weight, which is great, but honestly I struggle so much with the body changes. Everything changes on a weekly basis so the "safe" clothes aren't necessarily safe anymore and I'm struggling with so many more sensory issues. Everybody tells me I should be happy that I'm losing weight, but when I'm down to two t-shirts that don't make me want to tear my skin off.... But I can swim 1km without stopping, do a 1 minute plank and so much more than when I started so on the whole I guess it's good. I even got to take 15 minutes for a hot bath the other day.

Pregnancy changed my body greatly - c-sections and significant separation of abdominal muscles (diastasis recti) that requires surgical repair. I have been waiting to be ready for surgery for years because I had massive mental and physical health issues being an overwhelmed autistic parent.
I have recovered from a lot and really relate to recovery needing to integrate all aspects of being and the big impact of trauma on relationship and connection to body.
Just this morning I realised I'd also used caring about sustainability as a cover for self-neglect too.
The way I am in my body now is much better - gentle, fun, relaxed about routines, going with what I need each week. I had eating disorder including over-exercising when I was young so I'm enjoying a new framing of enjoying strength and being more relaxed about it. Slowly and gently has been really effective too. Physiotherapists have helped me so much. My children are in their teens so it's been a long road back to health.

Thank you, you're right. Anything relating to maternity doesn't get the respect it deserves. We have four children, the third of whom has intellectual disability and autism and has huge problems getting to sleep. Enjoyed the video very much ❤

I took this same approach to rebuilding my relationship with exercise too. I didn’t have the benefit of a trainer but the slow build really works! Similarly it felt so slow when I started, and I wanted to do more but I held back so I could make sure I was showing up consistently. Strength training has been the best for me too! I feel like strength training really helps me see exercise in a healthy way and not in a disordered way.

I can relate! I went through a 3 year period after my 1st where he didn't sleep for longer than 2 or 3 hours at a time. I had had a great regime before and most of the way through my pregnancy. But I was so severely sleep deprived it was hardly a thought. Spare time was nap time. It created trama.

I'm recovering from my burnout right now. I gained a lot of weight in that period too, because I just couldn't take proper care of myself back then. It's hard to start working out again after something like that as well. But about a year ago, I bought a treadmill to start walking again. And around 6 months ago I wanted to take the next step, so I was looking at personal trainers and I remembered your previous video with this sponsor. It's cheaper than a local personal trainer. However, I'm currently on benefits so I'm hesitant to start. Maybe when I have a steady job again, I will give this a try. It's been in the back of my mind for a while now.

LFG!!! Fitness and Autism. I've dropped 53 lbs and started going to the gym for 8 months consistently. At 37 and just finding out I'm autistic I've never been better. My anxiety and my personal life circling the drain be damned

What an incredibly helpful video! You're opening up conversations about difficult topics and I am convinced you make sooo many people feel better about their body and their abilities or lack thereof!
Had postpartum unrecognized with 1st one and unavoidable but much shorter with second one. I also do the 'for the earth' thing where I use it as a excuse to not invest in myself. Thank you for helping me catch it with your example! ❤ Your video is suuuuper motivating! And you look like yourself so you look great!

Having a part time personal training program like this is very appealing because I hate gyms, I am not self-motivated when it comes to exercise, snacking is often out of control, and energy levels are way too low!

Thank you so much for sharing! I have been struggling with my body image for several years at this point (for me it was a prolonged traumatic stress event other than pregnancy but that coincided with lock down timing which only compounded my issues) and it feels like I'll never be "me" again.
I think I may have to lock the bathroom scale up before I'll be able to get out of that mindset. It definitely feels like I'm stuck in a cycle of one step forward and two steps back..
    💚
