Well, idk the full context, but at the begining something is said about, SM being "scared" of snakes, so , there should be the logical sense you're referring to. We might confront fears that paralize us, or make us act more cautiously , in her case, she might be scared but no bodily response is send in order to contract / espasm muscles. The rest of us closely identify with our thoughts and emotions, and when we feel an emotion intensely it consumes us. But I know a few people who've had powerful enlightenment experiences and nothing, absolutely nothing, gets to them. The one guy says he is ready to die at any moment. Another is like, "It's better than you can possibly imagine." A woman who is my therapist has had many such experiences and she is totally cool even if you're telling her the most messed-up shit. I'm like, "Fuck, I want that! Whatever they've got, I want it!" One guy I know did 5 meo DMT and said it completely erased his existential fear and fear of death, and he lost the need for a belief system. I've done a lot of ketamine therapy recently, and it's unearthed and released loads of trauma, but the dread and fear remains very stuck and won't move after many years. So now I'm thinking, "Hmmm, 5 meo DMT..."
It should be noted that, along with a complete lack of fear, SM-047 has impaired danger appraisal. She cannot feel fear, nor can she accurately gauge danger. This has led her to an inordinate amount of risk in her life due to living in dangerous areas and near dangerous people.

Hate to say it, but I almost want this done to me. Anticipatory anxiety is the absolute worst and cripples me, especially in the department of driving. I've taken meds, talked to people etc. Tried CBD and so many other things, while they help alleviate it to a degree I still get the panic trigger. Sounds like bliss to me, someone with immense chronic anxiety.

People with debilitating anxiety should be allowed to have their amygdala removed if after years of trying all sorts of medication and therapy with little success, yet they remove the amygdala for people who have seizures, a guy who had his removed because of seizures lost his fear of spiders straight after the operation, what about people who are mentally tortured everyday? jeez you don't even have to have open surgery! they can do this with a gamma knife what is quick and pain free.

Which isn't to say she's rude or antisocial; doctors describe her as "outgoing, extremely friendly... playfully flirtatious ... she tends to be very positive about most people, situations, and issues."

music is my life I can answer this and the answer is yes. Without fear I don't experience anxiety however, I do feel huge amounts of frustration. This frustration can build up as I also find it difficult to feel or display anger. So, my release of this frustration will be me sat at home crying and then feeling depressed.

I can get around that by planning things around other people then knowing I have to go and do what ever or I'll let someone down. Reaction speed in some situations is better and not so much in other situations. Without fear there's no panic, without panic your brain can think quicker and better. This has worked in my favour a few times while out climbing in the mountains. However, in normal day to day life, I have been ran over a few times. My latest was getting hit by a lorry while cycling to work. Luckily I came away with just a bruise and my bike was still ok. I just got back on my bike and carried on to work. I've seen more death in this time than I did as a medic at the start of the Afghan conflict. Most of my colleagues in critical care have left their jobs due to ptsd and others that are still here are struggling. I might not suffer with ptsd but I still have a knowing in the back of my mind that I'm somehow broken. My advice, forget about any sort of surgery. Focus more on conquering your fears.

@Pecker wood Yeah, I guess I define or understand the word differently. Or maybe I just experience things differently. To me if you have the knowledge of a potential future uncomfortable situation that you want to avoid you by definition “fear” that that thing could happen. It might be a very subtle fear if the situation is only slightly uncomfortable and or slightly likely to happen. When I really try to drill down on the meaning of the concepts I find that not wanting something to happen and fearing something to happen are synonymous. They really seem to for me on a subjective level at least. I can’t imagine something I don’t want to happen to not be motivated by some kind of low key emotion of fear or something very close to or more or less synonymous to fear, and the thoughts for planing to avoid uncomfortable situations is anchored to that.

I would not wish zero fear on anybody, without fear I would have died in the boxing ring a long time ago rather than be a successful fighter. The most successful people Ive met truly fear ordinary life dangers like most people. But the outstanding quality is that they manage fear to drive risk into a dark area of the performance curve where many would lose their shit. The bottom line is fear is critical for a good long and successful life. The best have such power and control it seems almost like they chose their fear to profit from it, and not let fear destroy them and their dreams.

Well, I'm not afraid of demons or God/s because I cannot know of their existence. So for me, I can't be afraid of something that doesn't exist. In terms of death, well people who commit suicide aren't afraid of death. I'm also not afraid of death in terms of the "ceasing to exist" aspect of it. I'm just afraid of what comes immediately before death because usually there's much pain and suffering involved. But, death itself isn't scary to me. Once you're dead, you're dead. No pain, nothing. That sounds like eternal bliss to me.

pat a All I know is that rational thinking and emotions are separate. It would be ignorant of me to state facts that I cant confirm are true. I wouldnt know how she would react if a hungry lion was right in front of her. But it would be safe to assume that she knows the situation is to run. Not because she is "scared", but because that is her only option if she wants to benefit
@Pecker wood Yeah, I guess I define or understand the word differently. Or maybe I just experience things differently. To me if you have the knowledge of a potential future uncomfortable situation that you want to avoid you by definition “fear” that that thing could happen. It might be a very subtle fear if the situation is only slightly uncomfortable and or slightly likely to happen. When I really try to drill down on the meaning of the concepts I find that not wanting something to happen and fearing something to happen are synonymous. They really seem to for me on a subjective level at least. I can’t imagine something I don’t want to happen to not be motivated by some kind of low key emotion of fear or something very close to or more or less synonymous to fear, and the thoughts for planing to avoid uncomfortable situations is anchored to that.

Sounds like mama. I just wish she could use this notoriety to benefit her financial and well being. She still having lots of other medical problems physically and none of these Drs down here know what to do for her and she's getting worse, even though she explains every time to these Drs of what's wrong and they just treat her like a hypochondriac who's seeking attention AND that's not the case. I would not wish zero fear on anybody, without fear I would have died in the boxing ring a long time ago rather than be a successful fighter. The most successful people Ive met truly fear ordinary life dangers like most people. But the outstanding quality is that they manage fear to drive risk into a dark area of the performance curve where many would lose their shit. The bottom line is fear is critical for a good long and successful life. The best have such power and control it seems almost like they chose their fear to profit from it, and not let fear destroy them and their dreams.

Those around you probably more scared than you are, you just dont know it until you have conference with trusted people in your hood. Besides I was talking about comfort zone fears, not war zone fears, two completely different things from the perspectives of choices in life, objectives and goals.

Right, she's afraid of stupid snakes which I still can't grasp how the fuck they even move anyways but she says she's scared. How exactly? I read that her Amygdala was damaged or that she hasn't got it anymore, so really, she wouldn't even be scared at all and I highly doubt she is scared because she wouldn't have held it close to her face. My amygdala is partially damaged and I don't feel hardly anything anymore, so I can happily imagine that the lady you're talking about isn't scared at all

I think that fear like like a very specific type of pain. The parts of the brain ,that deal with physical pain for instance, are unaffected.
pain is different than fear, fear is an emotion. We have receptors all over our body for pain but fear originates in the amygdala in the brain.

Well, I'm not afraid of demons or God/s because I cannot know of their existence. So for me, I can't be afraid of something that doesn't exist. In terms of death, well people who commit suicide aren't afraid of death. I'm also not afraid of death in terms of the "ceasing to exist" aspect of it. I'm just afraid of what comes immediately before death because usually there's much pain and suffering involved. But, death itself isn't scary to me. Once you're dead, you're dead. No pain, nothing. That sounds like eternal bliss to me.
