This is The Best Comedy Movie Ever Made

- This is a video essay / retrospective on what I believe to be the greatest comedy movie ever made, Mrs. Doubtfire (1993). Most people lean towards comedies such as Superbad. While those kinds of movies are hilarious, in this video I make my case and give my reasonings for why Mrs. Doubtfire is the best, thanks to the movies' ability to balance drama and comedy better than just about any other film I've seen.
The movie has a lot of laughs, but I believe what sets it apart from other comedies is its emphasis on heart, connecting with the audience through the love a parent feels for their children, the outrageous lengths a parent will go to, to be with their children.

I'm glad that this movie has no bad guys. As it's clear that Daniel and Miranda are both each other's as well as themselves worst enemy.
Yeah. It would have been so easy for them to make Stewart the bad guy. I'm so impressed at the restraint they had to actually make him a decent guy. Worst thing he does is call Danny a loser behind his back, but he does love Miranda's kids and wants to play a roll in their lives.
@@TableCreed yeah. Not to mention the fact that Daniel’s actions are far worse than Stu’s were. Making Stu a villain would feel like Daniel never needed to change and was fine as the way before. Heck, he almost killed the dude and I’m not sure anyone’s gonna look past that.
@@osmanyousif7849 Daniel was practically psychotic. He even vandalised Stu's car. He was straight up just breaking the law, and yeah the food tampering is serious. Daniel wasn't seeing clearly for most of the movie. He was just so blinded by the fact that his life as he knew it was slipping away from him and he didn't know how to process it. But hey, we wouldn't have gotten a movie if he processed this like a normal person.
The greatest of anything is subjective.
I seen this as a child... was born 89, didn't know this came out 93 i remember watching in 98 99... anyways, watching this movie now as an adult it just gets me in seeing how different a perspective can be from seeing it as a child to seeing it as an adult. The court system is brutal, I can tell you this and the mother's ability to break up her family just because of her seeming happiness at the expense of everyone else shows how little that mother cared about the children. I can see now people like that should never been given full custody of children. They put their feelings ahead of the child every chance they get.
Good movie excerpt...
Thank you. I think she did love her kids, but she was just so determined to hurt Danny that she kind of weaponised them in a way. Definitely awful behaviour on her part, but she did grow past that by the end of the movie so it's hard to be too upset with her. But yeah, court systems can be a very scary place. Being judged by people who don't know the full story.
IMO it's the Party with Peter Sellers.
Never heard of that one to be honest. I will say that I don't think Mrs Doubtfire is the funniest movie ever made, but it just has so much heart in it that it compensates for it. The comedy is used very sparingly and subtly but when its time for the comedy, it is really good, and its actually clever.
Yes. I always liked Mrs Doubtfire ..
I always liked it too, but it wasn't until recently that I watched it with older eyes that I realised how truly fantastic it is. It may genuinely be in my top 10 favourite movies.
Awesome 😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
The best comedy movie ever made? For me, it's pretty easy. And there's only one - it's not a shared, #1 either. It sits alone at the top. And it's title? THE BLUES BROTHERS!! Best comedy of all time!!
I love mrs Doubtfire I think Miranda and Daniel are 2 of the best characters ever written in film
The movie definitely doesn't get the credit it deserves. I think a lot of people remember it from their childhoods, but it's practically a different movie once you've grown up.
Best characters ever written in film is interesting though. I'd have to really think about that. I love Mark Watney from The Martian. Felt like we were stuck on Mars with him. Couldn't help but love him.
I feel like I've seen you around in other comment sections before. Your handle looks very familiar to me. Thanks for checking out my video.
@@TableCreed anytime and maybe I just saw ur video on the main page
@@TableCreed totally agree with that

Good movie but life takes the best comedy
Never heard of it. What year did that come out? You're not talking about Life of Brian are you?
@@TableCreed life starring Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence
Good morning Vietnam is Robin Williams best movie hands down and I absolutely loved Mrs doubtfire
I actually started Good Morning Vietnam but it got late and I turned it off. I still need to go back and finish it at some point.
@@TableCreed it is well worth the watch. My list of favorite Robin Williams movies Good morning Vietnam, Mrs doubtfire, Patch Adams, I know a lot of people didn't like Hook but I enjoyed it
Oh and bicentennial man gets an honorable mention
@@rasbey2050 I love Hook. It's a cool approach to making a Peter Pan movie, 'What if Peter left Neverland and forgot about it, forgetting who he is in the process'. The line "Oh there you are Peter" always gets to me.
My favourite film.
It's definitely in my top 10. Maybe even top 5. It's just so wholesome and whimsical with really strong themes. Seems like people often overlook it in the modern age.
