I like waching this videos while listening to music, while I'm making the thing with wire, while I'm eating tangerines and I can tell you it's an awesom experience.
Loved your tutorial!! I used it to re-do a broken handmade piece od jewelry that I did!! Ir was a beautiful big round locket that I fashioned into a "steam punk pocket watch!!" Now if I don't have the clasps from the craft store, I can just make them myself using my wire!! 😍😍 Thanks a bunch!! Definitely needed to watch this!
I'm so happy the tutorial is helpful. I feel your pain, I have the beginnings or arthritis in my left thumb and am trying not to use thick wire anymore! 20g is a good medium size.
I'm so glad I found your tutorial. I have been unable to find a copper clasp that isn't antique copper. Now I can make a clasp for the necklace I made for my mom in law that will actually match the rest of the copper!
I'm coming back to your video again, because I made the one looks like a skirt pin about a year ago. I have gotten so many compliments on it. So I thought I have some time today. Why don't I get down to learning how to do these properly and quickly. Then I can put them on the gifts that I love making for, family, friends and my son's teachers Etc. Got to be more original then stuff you buy in stores. Plus much prettier then average necklace clasps ❤ Ill say this 100 times, "Heather! I cannot explain to you how many times I have been rescued by one of your videos. When I was in the middle of making a gift for somebody that had I had to get done that day or the next day. What I mean is. I was trying to follow somebody else's video or written tutorial and got to the point where I couldn't manage it. who could explain the same process to me better. Heather has come in at least four times.
This one saved my work! I finished making my first vertibrae bracelet and I was looking for a simple and safe clasp...and I found it! The third one is perfect! Thank you very much, Heather for share and teach!🙏
I do the eye hook slightly different. I don't like to loop from both side and match the ends up together, so I make one end an eye pin, the end that attaches to the jewelry. I'm able to make clasps ahead of time in different colors and gauges and attach them to eligible bracelets and necklaces without incorporating an additional jumpring. Gorgeous work!
@@HeatherBoydWire I just made my first flat wire bead ring after watching your tutorial I did add your name to say thank you for your tutorial I posted it onto instagram I’m off to add it to your page ❤️

I thank you very much, appreciation and respect for explaining with a very, very high precision how to make a lock. I am pleased today that I learned something very, very beautiful from you to complete my work. I thank you, my teacher, and I wish you success and lasting success. I love to create ALL components whenever possible, so this alternative to a prefabricated lobster clasp is awesome because some customers don't care for hook and loop or toggle style clasps bc they feel they arent secure enough. This will be super helpful thank you!
This type of clasps look really secure, I am going to make them for my projects. Thanks so much for sharing this idea. Did you come up with it? I hope you did, so I am going to give you credit if anyone asks me about my homemade clasps. I like to tell people where my ideas come from.
Thank you Heather. I was looking for instruction to make a connector finding for a 2 strand necklace that I can attach my closure to. I played around with it and mine end up too large looking for my design but I don't think I should use a thinner gauge wire? Any ideas? The 2 strands are seed beads and 3mm metal spacers.
What kind of jewerly looks the best with this kind of closure? I made a bangle but because it is made from multiple pieces of wire it doesn’t suit the bangle, unless it had two loops instead of onez
This is a great video ty. 😊😊Is there a reason you chose to make it hidden? I've saved it on my wirewrap tutorial playlist so each time I need a review . I'd search in my list but because you have it hidden it doesn't show up and I have to look for it again from scratch. 😢😢

Hello Heather. Thank you for your videos. They are truly wonderfully done. You're quite brilliant & a lovely teacher. I like all the clasps you've shared here & I'm going to try my hand @ all of them. I would like to ask though: on the 3rd one you specifically state you're using 18 ga... could I / should I not use 20 ga? Would it be too flimsy wire for this one? Thank you for your time ❤
Sorry to bother you Heather. I actually love how secure this style of clasp is... x_x however, now the issue is the converse: that it's too difficult to unclip on your own i.e. it seems you need someone else, using both their hands, to assist you unclip it... What am I to do...
I've watched this while doing it now 10 times and using a ruler to measure never get a long enough secondary wire. So to anyone trying this, don't follow the precise measurements she is giving.

The length of the wire depends on the size of your hook. I tend to cut my wire too long to be sure. Good luck.
