what a STORY QUEST man, i like this one and how involved neur' himself is in it, it's about him, with him, and even about his relationship with the different people in fontaine - very cool c: unlike some other hydro guy.. that plans weddings.. (sorry lmao, available on 2nd channel though if you wanna see it!)
really wanted to make freminet building but unfortunately that did get delayed, plans for next week are prepping for the exploration of the new 4.1 area as well as frem building! and maybe this new voiced liyue + mondstadt event is actually cool?? i hope so!
also have a building video up on 2nd channel, of a star rail character! really working on trying to do variety and streaming/2nd channel content more often c: hope you're enjoying it, or at least are giving it a shot!

I love that Neuvillette personally crafted the medals of peace! I can just picture him at his craft corner with his little reading glasses and a lot of washi tape 😂

I'm so pleasantly surprised by Neuvillette as a character. When I saw him in the Fontaine preview video, I thought to myself: "ah, another stoic male character... he's probably like Alhaitham", and I cannot explain how surprised I was to discover he's an empathetic and thoughtful old man who's bound by duty and silently yearns for connection. It's probably one of my favourite tropes when it comes to male characters, and he has touched me very deeply - he has quickly become one of my favourite characters, along with Kaeya and Nahida.
I am also surprised about Neuvi's personality. He is the perfect epitome of the loading screen.
He's very approachable and down to earth too, I didn't expect that either
The "Who's been threatening Melusines? Show yourself!" guy at 1:44:14 never fails to make me smile-cry 🥲

I think what makes that final montage so good, is it's Neuvillette both looking back and "feeling back" to those significant memories. Those were all memories that had a lot of sadness associated with them, but also, looking back, he's seeing a lot of those dark times now stand as a mark of his more positive impact on Fontaine: from the day Elynas was almost reawakaned, the Melusine were born; Wriothsley was sentenced to prison, but ended up making it a better place; Navia lost her father to Nevuillette's judgement, but now, they have a much better and more understanding relationship; and then there's the House of the Hearth, whose marking of Neuvillette as the "true symbol of justice" for Fontaine proves how integrated he is in Fontainian society.
It's with these brighter perspectives that Neuvillette is able to clear his own skies

Oh you definitely should do more hangouts, specially the Sumeru ones and beyond, they're all great, very wholesome and chill. Maybe on stream? Those seem like streamable content, just hangout with whichever character you like most
I thought about it a lot, and as I said Chonyun's REALLY was so hard to get through but I remember Ningguang/Gorou's were actually very fun - I can try one of the newer ones on stream for sure!!

@@RednasYo The hangout improves a lot compares to the initial ones. Some hangouts are even better than some 5* story quests. Personal recommend is Faruzan's one.
I love Neuvillette SO much man. His gentle voice when talking to Kiara at the end of the quest had me tearing up. Ray Chase did a phenomenal job with his voice
I've seen people describe this quest as "boring", possibly due to the lack of combat and action? But to me its perfect. Is it anticlimactic? In a certain way, yes, but the anticlimax drives the point home in this case, and makes this quest a great work of art. Neuvillette becomes aware that the current Melusine trial is one person acting in a desperate attempt with no allies to join with him. Times has changed, its nothing like his past experiences of othering, both for dragon versus humanity and melusine versus humanity. Him and Melusines have both integrated fully into society. The last cutscene drives this point home. He first dwells upon the sadness and trauma from Carole's suicide and anti-melusine racism, then comes to accept that times have changed and its time to move on. The last shot is literally him walking away from a shadowy pool of water, representing his escape from previous trauma and discrimination.

I remember in the 4.1 livestream when we heard “Is this what justice means to you?? ANSWER ME NEUVILLETTE!” but it was with a scene where Wriothesley appeared, so we thought was Wriothesley was gonna say it. In the archon quest, I was a little disappointed bc that voiceline didn’t appear anywhere.
When I did Neuvillette’s sq I was so happy it was there. That scene was so dramatic and sad. I loved it

neuvillette’s story quest is the exact reason i want story quests to be repayable. neuvillette is a character with so much depth, and his story quest is (as of 4.1) one of the best ways to see into his personality (because his character stories are locked, for some reason.)
also i just wanna see older characters again without waiting for an event that mentions them one time

FUN FACT I did this quest after finishing the main story and Neuvilllette didnt let a note for furina and also the last line from the quest was diffrent! Is so cool to see that there are two versions of this story quest!

Most people don't recognize the device, they don't even know they're called "Teleport Waypoints", but some people like Paimon, Katheryne and possible Dain knows about it.

Edit: By the way, I don't want to pressure you or anything... But I would really recommend you to play Dehya story and Faruzan hangout. You seem to love both of them so I think you will like those stories. Writers did a good job there! Oh, and Kaeya hangout gives you a curious 4* story item so you may want to check it as well. Hopefully, this wasn't too presumptuous of me.
Furina's letter in the end said the same thing as Focalors in the cutscene. That's so sweet. I love them 😢

About the Story quests and Hangouts; in my opinion,dehya's,baizhu's and yoimiya's part 2 are REALLY good. Especially baizhu's (Lyney's is also good,but not as much as the others imo. I can't say anything about cyno's and nilou's bcs i don't remember)
The hangouts i recommend the most are Heizou's and Faruzan's. The others post-faruzan are good too
in the last cutscene when vautrin and carole showed up i actually sobbed😭😭😭

I really love this story quest! The emotions were on-par with Baizhu's for me, and I would love to see you do Baizhu's quest as well when you get the chance (there's a fantastic cutscene in it, and it was nice to finally understand what's up with Baizhu after 2+ years of wondering). The melusine are so interesting lorewise and I'm really glad the Fontaine people finally accepted them!

This quest was amazing! I love Neuvillette and his interactions with Wriothesley are so funny! My will to build Neuvillette got so much stronger after doing his story quest.😊

I don't know what other character story quests you haven't done but I remember seeing Baizhu's when you scrolled through so I definitely vote for you also to play that one! But, about Neuvillette's story quest... I'll admit that I still teared up a bit while watching you play through it. I hope you do all of the Fontaine character quests because I think they've all been really, really good so far!

I have some info about Furina that you might find interesting. It's a pretty popular theory but there are no leaks involved.
The idea is that at some point around 500 years ago the hydro Archon Focalors split herself into different parts. One part is the Oratrice, which we know has some very strange and powerful ablilities and possesses sentience. That is also likely where the Gnosis is stored, similarly to how Nahida's Gnosis powered the Akasha in Sumeru. The other part is of course Furina. She would lack a lot of the power an Archon should normally have, and also likely doesn't have all the memories of Focalors. This explains why she is insecure about herself, why she backs down when someone challenges her to a real fight (us right after first meeting her and Childe during his trial), and her lack of knowledge about the primordial sea and the impending catastrophe. The old Focalors is already dead, or at least out of the picture. This theory has been around since 4.0 but some parts lf this current patch has strengthened it even more.
We now from what Arlecchino told usthat Furina doesn't posses the Gnosis, at least not on her person. The Oratrice is even more suspicious thanks to her information as well. But the most interesting thing comes from Neuvilette. He has a voice line unlocked at friendship 4 that goes like this;
"I went to see an opera recently. It was about a lady whose personal charm and manipulative schemes allowed her to continue to dominate the affairs of the grand mansion where she lived even after her death, like a ghost that refused to be exorcised. The acting was impeccable, and the story exceptional. It also reminded me of the current state of affairs in the real world."
The lady in the opera would be Focalors and the mansion is Fontaine itself. It fits so well with what we already had guessed.
Thanks to anyone who read this far, it ended up longer than I expected so I hope ar least someone finds it interesting.
I'd love to see you do Baizhu's story! He's my favorite. I resonate with him a lot as someone chronically ill myself (and studying medicine), but even without that added layer his story was quite good and raised a lot of questions. He's rumored to be having a rerun soon too so it's a good time.

The like, lever thing changes to show case the opinion of the court, but at the end it chooses the verdict. So it wasn't disagreeing with him, it was just showcasing the courts opinion.

Very off topic, but 'ta-ta' is also how you say goodbye in Welsh! You don't always say "ta-ta" sometimes you just say "ta" but there's many other ways to say goodbye in Welsh (like hwylfawr for example) but ta-ta is like, the most commonly used and most informal so most of us use it with our friends! i understand neuvillette in his inability to feel like you belong - i've lived in the country i've been living in all my life and still i don't feel like a citizen or even a part of the community. i don't know, maybe it's because of racism, bullying in school or a mix of things, it's just... sometimes it's like that, yeah.
I came across your content a while ago, I think it was one of the Fontaine videos? You did a whole intro in French and the whole thing made me laugh so much that I subbed afterwards. Everything else I've watched on your channel has given me similarly good vibes and it's very comforting (especially to a uni student with more stress than there is hair in a horse's tail).

And yeees pls do the other story quests :D Baizhu, Dehya, and Yoimya 2nd story quest are amazing. Cyno's is great as well, but might not be everyone's cup of tea (shoutout to Sausage).
As for the Hangouts, Heizou and everyone released after him has a great hangout story, and worth to do!

I didnt think it was possible for Neuvillette to be even more likeable, but this quest somehow managed to make that possible. The whole thing sorta made me smile sadly (if that makes any sense at all.)
Even beyond that, it had some really cool parallels to the real world, with Neuvillette struggling with self image (something I and I imagine a lot of people deal with) plus the whole thing with the Mélusines kinda being an analogue for racism in our society.
God damn I love this character, and Fontaine in general.
