@@babygravy7 Still unoriginal tho. He isn't DJ Krono who can turn a lame generic electronic song like 'Dancin' into something super funky and pleasing to hear.
Yep...From the 1st time i heard 'this' Weekend's song, i immediately remembered Tomoko' song (Midnight Pretenders)...I grew up listening to Japanese City Pop songs (in it's heyday 70-80s)...Many modern songs are now imitating previous songs aye😅
Taking an entire instrumental isnt exactly sampling but the weeknd has the rights to make his own version with the beat and there are very little changes so is not really a huge deal but i would have rather seen the weeknd change the beat a little bit and keep it similar which is sampling
I mean he does a good job for referrals to the original ones 😂 For those who are quite confused, everything will be answered once we know if Weeknd asked permission to sample it because sampling for commercial purposes isn't that simple esp if the original piece ain't public domain
Out Of Time by The Weeknd also sounds kind of like I Can't Go For That (No Can Do) by Hall & Oates, V.S.O.P. by Above The Law, I'll Do Anything by Heavy D, Sunrise by Simply Red, Can't Go For That by 2 Chainz, and many more that I can think of.
Me too I mean not the song but the sound ,the music is familiar to me and I think it belongs to a band in the 90's or 20's could be Moby or massive attack I can't tell exactly
Samples are lame to me because they basically steal the best and hardest part of the song (the composition) and they add their terrible lyrics that don't match at all.
then u prob didn't listen to som e good sampling yet. now look I know that this was pretty lazy but I promise u there some good sampling out there u just havent found it yet.

To be fair he's sampled several artist if you have been paying attention.
The Romantics, Tears for Fears, Kavinsky, Tomoko Aran
Yes hes fairly unoriginal
It’s a sample but to be fair the weekend really didn’t do anything better with the sample, the best thing he did was bring people to the original
Midnight Pretenders is such a good song . I like Weekend but i love the Midnight Pretenders more here .
You Can’t Copy a Classic, You can Only Sample It, That’s What He did

Used that sample for a new song, not copied
When i first heard of it from a store, I was pretty shocked, but at least they give credit :3
He SAMPLED it, not copied.
They use the same base because it is a collaboration with lyricists Tomoko Aran

The weeknd has a rep. He won't risk his career without clearing it from the original.
I literally just Heard Midnight Pretenders. They sampled and chopped it
It’s called a sample smooth brain
Weeknd meat rider?
It’s a sample
Hey changed nothing XD
I noticed since the first time i heard Out Of Time and I wonder… was this some sort of tribute or is it just a copy?
Es un tributo, además pidió permiso para usar la melodía, si no hubiera pedido permiso lo hubieran denunciado apenas salía
It's called a sample
Just a sample with credits aknowledgent to Tomoko Aran… clickbait
Weekend changed nothing.
What? The whole lyrics are changed. This is a sample, not a copy.
