first time hearing Out Of Time was like, "what was that?, I was not playing Midnight Pretenders" until Abel sang, that blew my mind.

I was on the opposite side though, I listened to Out of time before Midnight Pretenders. And when youtube randomly played Midnight Pretenders, I was waiting to sing along "There's so much in my life". However, that was different. I felt amazed; and immediately, i searched and knew that Abel used Arans' sample 😅😅😅😅
The Weeknd is probably the only modern musician I listen to and this makes me love him more
After Dark is where I was like, "Oh yeah! He's getting good!". That was a great album. Dawn FM is incredible, best album of the year!

I remember listening to the Weeknd a few weeks ago and out of time came up for the first time. First time I heard it. I heard the intro and was like ah ok city pop now ok....then heard him singing. I had to stop and check to see what was going on. And yep he sampled this. Two of my favorite things the weekend and citypop together.

Omg finally someone else knows the same!! So many 80s Japanese funk and soul inspired by Black American Soul and Funk all along. Full circle!! yet city pop seems so made with care and attentiveness to every note/beat. That’s why I love city pop so much too. 💞

I absolutely adore Tomoko Aran and i hugely respect Abel as an artist as well as his music, it's just a shame that all these classics get mixed together with modern works and don't get the recognition they deserve individually, and that other modern artists do the same as this song but just take most of the old song instead of really sampling it (Katy Perry and Niki Minaj do thisfor example) Either way this song at least is good, and props to Abel for crediting Tomoko Aran instead of just taking her song for granted.
I need more of this original and sampled songs, very interesting cause both are nice to listen
