Thanks man! I bet you've already seen it, but if you haven't I also, did a mock trailer based on the original 1933 radio advertisement. ruclips.net/video/vpHwjZBav9U/видео.html
The King Kong 1933 dvd is probably one the best dvds out there. Probably up there with the likes of the lotr extended special features. It bugs that dvds are basically just the movie and nothing else now. What happened to the creative dvd menus? The bonus features? Directors commentaries? I’m not gonna pay $20 to own just the movie. With the industry switching to streaming I fear it’s only gonna get worse
I hate how, at least to my knowledge, there aren't any Blu-rays with multiple menus, like DVDs had, and there aren't any Blu-ray menus that have the coolness factor of DVD menus like those of the 2-disc DVD releases of "Predator" and "Predator 2", the original DVD release of "Godzilla"[1998], and the original 1-disc & 2-disc DVD releases of "The Dark Knight".
This was a fantastic episode. You did a great job diving into the various formats. It is absolutely insane how many different formats exist for these movies. It’s pretty crazy.
10:52 -this is something that people misunderstand about George Lucas. The reason he had a problem with it is because he was concerned with cooperations messing with art without the consent of the artist. There is a fundamental difference between an artist revising his work, and a cooperation changing an artists work. Rick Worley’s “How To Watch Star Wars, Part Two: The Special Editions Are The Movies, Get Over It” explains this very well. m.ruclips.net/video/xaeTOMvf67c/видео.html
Another major reason VHS eventually beat Beta was because the tape of the former was LONGER and, when it came to RECORDING onto them (from television or with a camcorder) MORE MATERIAL could be contained on them.
Another reason was actually vhs letting companies license the tech to make cheaper players. Sony would make licensing so expensive it wasn’t worth it. It was the smarter choice to get vhs.
The vcd genuinely reminds me of multi disc ps1 games like final fantasy VII, xenogears and chrono cross to name a few. I just love how they have to put a 3 hour movie on 3 discs while xenogears only 2 discs is 60 hours. 40 on disc 1 and 20 on 2
Hey. Yes I know that this is a king kong video. But I just want to say that I really do love your Inuyasha V-logs and I am looking forward to see more of them. Inuyasha is one of my personal favorite anime series and it is great to hear you talk about it. Also are you gonna make the band of seven Arc one big video. Becuase that one is at least 23 episodes long
Wow, thank you! Yes we have plans to continues the V-Logs in 2021 with Season 3. The first movie will be part of our traditional BigJackFilms Reviews. Stay tuned.
Since you did fan made trailers of Legend of King Kong (1975), Peter Jackson's King Kong (1996), and the upcoming Godzilla vs Kong (2021), can you make a fan made trailer for Stan Winston's Godzilla (1994) ?
Nice video! Have you got the Channel 5 VHS (1986, UK) of the 1933 version - with censorship cuts and an odd title sequence where the titles are still images and flip to the next to one?
i've always been a little peeved that the jackson film's extended cut never got a dvd release in denmark, same for the lotr films (actualluy i think they might have)...only on blu-ray ...yeah...it's not like i would like to bring the movie with me or anything...sigh
The first versions I had of the 33 and 76 Kongs were on RCA video discs (CEDs) back in the early 80s, when I was a kid. Video discs predated VHS and were really cool back in the day. Like you said, it was like having a vinyl record (with the annoying glitches and scratches). We had a lot of movies in this format while it was briefly popular and I remember there were a few movies that already skipped when we first played them. My parents still have the disc player and, as far as I know, if you hooked it up the movies would probably still play. One of the coolest thing about these discs was the cool artwork on those large LP size discs.
Hi Jack , Im from Australia and I just want to inform that yes Both Son Of Kong (1933) And Mighty Joe Young (1949) were Released seperately both on Blu Ray and DVD but only internationally , evidence I saw both movies on DVD in JBHIFI In My local video store.
I remember owing lots of bootlegs and seeing people getting up to use the bathroom the audience laughing some fucking kid crying and I remember owning ice age 4 and it skipped a part of the movie and the quality got lower
I'm so glad I stumbled upon your channel, your true Fandom is downright amazing. But the best way to enjoy king kong is on the big screen for sure. When I was a kid seeing king kong 1976 in the theater standing in line waiting to get in I and over heard an elderly gentleman talking about when he saw the original king kong back in 1933 and how amazing that was . Anyway great reviews on all the formats forsure, thumbs up. Keep them coming.
Oh by the way... your such a big Kong collector you might have this. But it a novel called Doc Savage Skull Island. Where Doc recounts his encounter with Kong after he falls from the Empire State Building. Here is the link. www.amazon.com/Doc-Savage-Island-Will-Murray/dp/161827113X
Hello Jack, I know I have been pitching this idea around for a while, but I want you to review my King Kong remake (made in 2020). We used a gorilla suit and a bit of stop motion and cgi. I hope you can review it, it would mean so much to us.
13:38 I remember back when the Jackson remake came out, I used to have one recorded as well. That version was kinda interesting in that in addition to the swearing, the scenes where Dwan yells at King King and the entire scene of him going nuts in the oil tanker was cut. In that version, it cut from Jack getting off the phone with Fred to Kong putting Dwan down and her running away. Still wish I never taped over that
The colorized version of King Kong is kind of Nostalgic to me because that’s how I watched the film for the first time, though I prefer the original format I did enjoy it for what it was, though I did disagree with the reason for colorizing it
@@mikekomarinski Interesting. The "Homeward Bound" film series is one of my favorite film series from my childhood. I wish that Disney would make a "Homeward Bound 3". Maybe, within the next few years, they'll make it and it'll be a Disney Plus original. As long as they get suitable replacement actors for any characters that would need to be recasted, such as the Burnford-Seavers and Shadow, I'm in.
Hey Jack, Just wondering, Maybe instead of a king kong review next time, Why not you take a look at the unmade movie "War Eagles"? The script is actually available on amazon. I think you would really like it since you make king kong review. Thank you.
I didn’t know the 76 Blu-ray wasn’t released in the US! That explains why I paid so much for my copy! A local record store media store I go to had a Japanese copy for 40 bucks. I thought it was too pricey but I knew I had to have it! It had a unique black case and the cover is just the poster with a Japanese text.
Great video! I did notice you used some of the material from my Censored Kong documentary - if you could just add a credit and a link to my video as well, that would be appreciated.

And King Kong bootlegs

And Rage of the Ape Man from Primal

This was recommended RUclips just made my day “ in a good way”
Do you have the extended cut of the 76 version on DVD?
Me: Sees Jack will review Kong on Broadway next.
HECK YEAH! ITS ABOUT TIME!
Off topic but i love the look of early dvd players where they are huge
The colorized version of original King Kong was my first exposure 2 the famous gorilla.

21:27. *I HAVE THAT DVD.*
That is how I was able to watch the original movie in it’s entirety. Absolutely loved it and still have it to this day
"Yeah, where's the fuckin Kong videos at??"
The only thing I have "Kong" related is a German Blu-ray of The Mighty Peking Man.

Wasn't just the PS1, the 360 also did that with two games being L.A. Noire and Final Fantasy XIII
I do hope that 1 day that the Criterion Collection releases the original King Kong on Blu Ray & with the original commentary.
Criterion should release King Kong 1933 on blu ray. It deserves to be part of their blu ray catalog.
Great videos as always your video help me take my mind of hard situations
It would be nice if they release a blue Ray set of King Kong 1933 son of Kong and mighty joe young 1949 all together
How did you get kong king of the apes on dvd?
11:47 I'll never forget the first time I laid eyes on that copy of King Kong vs. Godzilla. Before then, I didn't even knew it existed.

Very informative and through
i some times wish you could show some of the deleted scenes in the extended king kong 76 tv version cause i tried to find so and not a whole lot.

I'm interested in getting King Kong 1933 on home video. Which version on VHS would you say is the best version to own?
Probably the 60th anniversary edition or the Colorized version.
19:11 How many Kong 🦍 movies do you have? Seems to me you got a collection there!!
DVD is better.
I would like to own a laserdisc version of king kong lives
I bought a used copy of King Kong Lives on DVD for $5 way back in 2007 at a Blockbuster!
I wondering which was the best color version of original king kong 1933
"Your soul belongs to me!" I died laughing.
So did my brother
