@@sticksman7819 Just changing oil every 15k or 60k (DSG), also fuel consumption is 10,5l/100. Engine is downpowered one from Cupra / Golf R range so should last long with no problems. If you choose some one-year used car, its still will have 4y warranty and price drop is tremendous.

Old review I know, but on the Skodas, you can also make the seats fold flat. The seat bottoms in the back row lift up and go forward. You can then fold the seat backs totally flat. This is available on most VAG kombis actually.
at 18:10 if you look at the top of the B pillar, you can see there are two holes (one on each side) where you can attach the security net when the rear seats are fold

It's a shame that the FL version that's already out went short of offering full format LED lights! The infotainment unit is new and better seemingly but no change to lights!
Excellent review. I agree about the gauges, they could have used the same as the VW Passatts which although not sporty still look more up to date. Also they seem to have improved the seats over the previous Superbs. I remember how you said in a past review they were not comfortable for taller drivers . Now with this release Skoda seem to have rectified the problem & listened to you which is a very good thing indeed. Oh, & I liked it when you surprised that Porsche driver with the unexpected acceleration, he must be thinking "What the...that car went faster than me & it was a Skoda. Bah!" XD .Cheers.

Finally, a review that shows the instrument panel and the view out the front of the car. I own an Octavia Combi at the moment and I was considering the Superb combi as a replacement and I think Australia will also get the sport line too.
Yes does real carbon fiber cost that much more? On a side note I think the lack of digital dials for the driver is more forgivable on the Sportsline model than on others, not only is it one of the few differences between the more expensive Passat, but the Sportsline is branded as being 'sporty' and it almost feels more sporty to have the old-fashion dials...
I used to hate Skodas a few years back! It used to be the design, it was so boring and very old fashioned, but with VW and Audi design cues, I love them now.

The small space in the box under the armrest, is for a tablet (9,7" max. incl. cover), the save place for my iPad. I know no other car, which gives you this possibility.
I hope Skoda will launch an official RS model! I think a Superb with RS parts would look great 😍💪 The red color of the Superb and the modern design with these black elements looks very coherent!! 👍 The new superb is the best overall package in this segment 👑 Very entertaining review as allways ;)
I like this car a lot and its on my shortlist for my next company work horse. But the only thing that puts me off is that I've seen a lot of examples where the glovebox doesn't line up properly when closed. I'm a nerd for attention to detail like you Thomas
Good review as always Thomas! you are absolutly right with your recommandation about the seats, i just order the Superb Sportline and testet the Style an L&K before but the feeling in the Sportline is much better, very comfortable and good support. But the overall feeling in the car is not very sporty, more build for comfortable riding. But after 3,5Years driving a Audi A4 with S- line package where you know if there is a stamp on the postmark or not it is fine for me.
So this engine can be remapped to 350bhp!! Just stage 1... Under 5s to 100kmh that's just crazy and I love it.. I am Czech and after VW decided they move the superb manufacturing out of Czech because cost cutting you just know the quality will be degrading... Btw in the most beautiful green antracit colour this is by far the best car ever made in Czech❤️👌

Thomas I heard at least 3-4 times from you about "BMW driver's that want to buy a Superb..." It's so funny! :D I think Audi drivers can buy Superb because it's also VAG product and feels really similar but BMW feels totally different. Can you really compare Superd with BMW 5 series "sheer driving pleasure"?)) Superb is a nice comfy and pretty car with good value for money ratio but BMW's are for people that want something more sporty and special than VW-Skoda-Seat and pay for that extra money. Some people buy Tissot & some buy IWC ;) IMAO

I was never a fan of Skoda. Probably because of their older smaller models like Fabia. Octavia never impressed me that much. And then I took a Superb Estate 2010 2.0 170 a few years back as a rent a car and was amazed at how good it was. For a very affordable car, it was great. I had a drive at the newish Octavia and wasnt impressed, but that Superb left a very good impression on me. If I was in the market for a family limo/hatch/estate, I would take the Superb, no question about it,
I would like them to add a mild hybrid system so that in sailing mode you can have some more severe 'engine braking' - maybe the car could potentially achieve much better mpg if the driver drives in a way that makes good use of this.

Hey Paul, both very good cars for sure. The Superb offers you more space, the A4 is sportier. Check out which one you can get without leather seats in your market and which one has the better price
Hi Thomas - Quick question... do you experience road and wind noise from the front doors at speeds above 80km/h? I have the non-sport version and experience a lot of road and wind noise as soon as the speed goes up. Btw great review as always.
Ok weird. Maybe I should contact my car dealer and have him check it. I thought that this noise was "normal" and was the reason for the general lower price.
Another great review - but would disagree on the dials, I like them - think the brand needs classy touches and the dials are clear and classy. My only disappointment is the black grill, needs a little chrome or something to lift it.
If this car version was on sale at the time the car was launched at market for sure I get them but I buy a Superb L&K with the 2.0 TDI 190cv that for sure is a great car. God review Thomas!
I wonder if Skoda is not allowed to use other materials or what as a part of VW group, but those decorative pieces they use in the interior TOTALLY ruin it for me, same on the new Octavia and Kodiak. I'm talking about the fake carbon fiber, which is just painted plastic, it looks so cheap. Why not use aluminium? Just brushed aluminium, that's it, that would look so much better and I bet anyone would pay a couple of euros more to get it. The biggest irony is, that on lower trim levels they actually have a material that looks like brushed aluminium, except it's a bit more dark and plastic, but it looks far better than any of these glossy fake carbon ones.
This is so close to what an "RS" would be, and what the Passat is that there is barely room if any to move, at least on the 2L platform, going upto a 2.5L and/or putting in more aggressive intake/exhaust, cooling and turbo systems, but that would defeat their brand segmentation and standardization strategies. If they start making exceptions, and say well this car gets a bigger exhaust/intake, and we are going to upgrade or manufacture uprated turbo's, then its a slippery slope, it leads to things like 'well we think it would be better if the internal fan grills were like this in this car' and even though it is only one modification, or one part, that is how over time you end up with many components. But they might get away (from VW) with fitting a 2.5l since it is such a big vehicle and it would help produce low-end torque for towing, and couple that with the 48V mild hybrid system, and good tuning/integration, they might get a really torquey (at low rpm) vehicle that drives/handles and tows really well, and pulls 0-100kph at ~4 seconds in performance mode with electric assist. The problem is that people are already comparing it to E-Class and BMW 5 series, and Audi A4, not the Passat which is supposed to be almost a tier higher.
yes, the daylight running lights are all LED, while the low beam is xenon and high-beam also xenon( not sure about the high beam though). I guess the VAG group is trying to boost up the passat while banning such features as the full led lights, digital dials and more from the superb, otherwise i'm sure the superb would outsell the passat by far. A shame, if you ask me. Maybe we'll see something awesome introduced with the superb's facelift
I really don't get why they would promote a car in this color. Same with Honda with the red Civic we see everywhere. The Skoda Superb was always a favorite of mine. Nice car with a lot of luxury options for a great price. I'm not fond of the TSI engines (reliability), but with the bigger engines VAG's downsizing problem shouldn't be a thing.

Hi, the cupholder between driver and passenger is designed to open a bottle with one hand...see the risen spots.

yes indeed well remembered, the normal Superb seats are a little short for tall people, but the SportLine sports seats fit very well!

You know the little flashlight in the boot, it's magnetic. So you can stick it on the wheel arch at night if you need to change a tyre. Very useful!

The latest 272 version is 7 speed after WLTP. Not sure what version Thomas has but the original is indeed 6sp DSG

Hey Paul, both very good cars for sure. The Superb offers you more space, the A4 is sportier. Check out which one you can get without leather seats in your market and which one has the better price
Hi Thomas - Quick question... do you experience road and wind noise from the front doors at speeds above 80km/h? I have the non-sport version and experience a lot of road and wind noise as soon as the speed goes up. Btw great review as always.

not starting at 80 km/h, that shouldnt be normal
Some people had this issue and had it repaired by the dealers. I had no issues at over 180mph (290 km/h)

Another great review - but would disagree on the dials, I like them - think the brand needs classy touches and the dials are clear and classy. My only disappointment is the black grill, needs a little chrome or something to lift it.

Hey Thomas, are you sure that this one is with 7 speed DSG (6:09 min) ? Are there Skoda Superbs 2.0TSI 280 4x4 with 7 speed DSG already?

Yeah, I think Skoda's 2.0 TSI comes only with the 6 speed DSG. For now only VW offers the new 7 speed DSG with limited 2.0 TSI models.
Dimitar Angelkov there is a 7 speed dsg in superbs, but I don't know if you can get the7dsg with the 280hp engine

I wonder if Skoda is not allowed to use other materials or what as a part of VW group, but those decorative pieces they use in the interior TOTALLY ruin it for me, same on the new Octavia and Kodiak. I'm talking about the fake carbon fiber, which is just painted plastic, it looks so cheap. Why not use aluminium? Just brushed aluminium, that's it, that would look so much better and I bet anyone would pay a couple of euros more to get it. The biggest irony is, that on lower trim levels they actually have a material that looks like brushed aluminium, except it's a bit more dark and plastic, but it looks far better than any of these glossy fake carbon ones.

This is so close to what an "RS" would be, and what the Passat is that there is barely room if any to move, at least on the 2L platform, going upto a 2.5L and/or putting in more aggressive intake/exhaust, cooling and turbo systems, but that would defeat their brand segmentation and standardization strategies.
If they start making exceptions, and say well this car gets a bigger exhaust/intake, and we are going to upgrade or manufacture uprated turbo's, then its a slippery slope, it leads to things like 'well we think it would be better if the internal fan grills were like this in this car' and even though it is only one modification, or one part, that is how over time you end up with many components.
But they might get away (from VW) with fitting a 2.5l since it is such a big vehicle and it would help produce low-end torque for towing, and couple that with the 48V mild hybrid system, and good tuning/integration, they might get a really torquey (at low rpm) vehicle that drives/handles and tows really well, and pulls 0-100kph at ~4 seconds in performance mode with electric assist.
The problem is that people are already comparing it to E-Class and BMW 5 series, and Audi A4, not the Passat which is supposed to be almost a tier higher.
yeah, the price of a Passat but the space of a class above, thats why :)

yes, the daylight running lights are all LED, while the low beam is xenon and high-beam also xenon( not sure about the high beam though). I guess the VAG group is trying to boost up the passat while banning such features as the full led lights, digital dials and more from the superb, otherwise i'm sure the superb would outsell the passat by far. A shame, if you ask me. Maybe we'll see something awesome introduced with the superb's facelift

I really don't get why they would promote a car in this color. Same with Honda with the red Civic we see everywhere.
The Skoda Superb was always a favorite of mine. Nice car with a lot of luxury options for a great price. I'm not fond of the TSI engines (reliability), but with the bigger engines VAG's downsizing problem shouldn't be a thing.
