Hi there, wow that is what alot of the videos i've seen about the novation launchpads don't show. An in depth look in the components page. I'm sure maybe the manual would explain it but I havent seen a video about the components page settings until I saw this video. Awesome video by the way.

Gaz I know this is old video but I just bought a launchpad x in 2025 and I wonder how did you get omnisphere working with launchpad x times 8 -I’m sure I can work it out but I thought to save time and a headache I’d ask you? Is it not too complex can you give me the rundown ; I know I’m being lazy .., :-)
ben1210 exactly the time stamp I was looking for, thank you, sir! And all the info I wanted was stated within 25 seconds. Class compliant, bus powered on iPad Pro, poly after touch with great sens. Guess I don’t need the LPpro after all!
Me and many others thought the LP Pro was very heavy to trigger notes with. How does the LPx's trigger sensitivity compare to the LP Pro's trigger sensitivity?
Why are there not 8 user config slots for midi mapping? Because when they release the Pro version you'll get 8 or 16 or 32 :) Gotta leave room for the upsell Gaz!!
@@InkyDaCaT Don't get me wrong, they are top notch at firmware updates for some products (Circuit and Bass Station II in particular) but when it comes to controllers they have very carefully defined thresholds where they add additional features. For example the LaunchKey Mk II's firmware will never be upgraded so you can assign midi CC to the faders and knobs - you have to go up a notch to the Impulse range to get that. Ford have been doing it for 100 years.

(👍 to Rachel K Collier for that tip) I might have gone for the Launchkey Mini 3 but I already have a Keystep (aftertouch) and there's a bit too much overlap ... maybe later if I run out of CC knobs 😉
Is the customizer software to make your own custom settings an on line/browser based/website based application? Can one customize the launchpad X with just the iPad Pro? No desktop needed? I really hope the X can be customized with out a desktop for use iPad Pro users who have divorced themselves from desktop machines. Or at least is there an iOS app for iPad Pro musicians? If either is he case, at $200, Im sold!
This video makes me want it. I mean, Gaz makes it look like it is an easy task to play some cool music, but reality is you have to write and play your own clip. That's the hard part: being creative. Love this video, love this hardware. Cheers :-)

You can map Groove Agent pads to the Launchpad or any controller with pads easy - it works very well as a sample playing combination. Outside of the Ableton environment the Launchpad default setting is MIDI note.
Looking for touch sensitive pad controller to trigger samples in Kontakt for a Kiosk set up. Simple Q but with the Launchpad X could I send all pads on the same midi channel but say customize each row left to right with its own color? To encourage a visual connection with the type of sound it is triggering in my Kontakt samples. Bottom row 1, drums, blue, next row up, bells, green, etc...
Annnnnd since the Ableton 10.1.3 update (support for LPX and LPMM3) Launchpad MK2 doesn't work anymore. Only as a generic controller for midi channel 1....
Is this true I was thinking of buying the mini mk2 as it is on a black Friday deal it comes with ableton live lite are you saying it won't work... I don't have the full version of ableton just logic

Jørgen Hamran much much lighter on the X. Very gentle pressure will trigger.

They will release a launch pad pro 2..but novation are generally good at not selling you a mk2 rather than giving updates.

Finally a small form factor 64 pad controller with velocity sensitivity!
If you are referring to the Mini it's not velocity sensitive. The X is velocity sensitive and has aftertouch.
