I have heard more than 25 versions of the Lark Ascending and I think that Caroline Adomeit makes the better performance about a music piece so difficult like this. For her precision with the fingers, her sustained tones, her clearly when she plays, she is for me the better performer of this piece. Overall I think it is the most beautiful performance of The Lark Ascending I have heard. I though don't understand what went wrong at 10:04. Was the lead missing or something. Free from that moment I simply love this performance with its clear sound! Bravo!

Great performance of an equally great composition! Yet, can someone explain me what a "live recording" actually is? I assume it was a live performance at the moment of recording, but isn't that always the case? And doesn't the fact that we're watching/listening to a recording make this not live to start with? Questions that don't have much to do with this video yet are still interesting to think and argue about :)
+Hans Hylkema It simply means a recording of a performance to an audience designed to capture the sound as a member of the audience would have heard it. It will include the acoustics of the performance hall and even the breathing (or coughing) from the audience. In contrast a studio album is not recorded in front of an audience, there will be a much more complex recording system and a mixing desk which will allow the producer to change relative volumes of sections of the orchestra, or even individual instruments. It can even be that different sections are recorded separately and mixed later, or even re-recordings of sub-sections of the performance. The producer can also add in effects such as reverb to simulate the acoustics of a hall (a typical recording studio is designed to be fairly neutral).

Overall I think it is the most beautiful performance of The Lark Ascending I have heard. I though don't understand what went wrong at 10:04. Was the lead missing or something. Free from that moment I simply love this performance with its clear sound! Bravo!

Great performance of an equally great composition! Yet, can someone explain me what a "live recording" actually is? I assume it was a live performance at the moment of recording, but isn't that always the case? And doesn't the fact that we're watching/listening to a recording make this not live to start with? Questions that don't have much to do with this video yet are still interesting to think and argue about :)

+Hans Hylkema It simply means a recording of a performance to an audience designed to capture the sound as a member of the audience would have heard it. It will include the acoustics of the performance hall and even the breathing (or coughing) from the audience.
In contrast a studio album is not recorded in front of an audience, there will be a much more complex recording system and a mixing desk which will allow the producer to change relative volumes of sections of the orchestra, or even individual instruments. It can even be that different sections are recorded separately and mixed later, or even re-recordings of sub-sections of the performance. The producer can also add in effects such as reverb to simulate the acoustics of a hall (a typical recording studio is designed to be fairly neutral).
