I discovered IU after discovering BTS and she is honestly the only solo kpop artist that I enjoy. Her acting is ABSOLUTELY TOP TIER omg. The kdramas that she has been in are some of my personal favorites and her acting is so good that at times I forgot I was watching THE IU and was just watching the character. I love IU, shes definitely my fave female Korean soloist (although I love a bit of Taeyeon) and i think her popularity is completely deserved. Blueming and Eight are my fave songs of hers but tbh I need to delve deeper in her discography.
The thing about IU is, she's been in the industry since she was a teenager; 13-14 years old, in international age. Others have said that she's known as, "Korea's Little Sister," among other wholesome nicknames, but all of this also means that she's been under unimaginable public scrutiny & pressure for a VERY long time. I think the closest equivalent in the Western industry is probably Britney Spears (in terms of being under a microscope + expectations around conduct, not the familial nightmare). IU has been expected to not just conform to S. Korea's socially conservative Idol standards, but to model them for everyone else - in many peoples' eyes, she's forever 16. I always liked her voice, but I fell in love with her music from, "23," on. That was the song that gave me a glimpse into how thoughtful, poetic & funny she is. Despite everything she's been through and seen, or perhaps because of it, she's remarkably reflective & self-aware. I can only imagine how amazing her voice & songwriting will be in years to come.

The joyous, nostalgic "it was good while it lasted" message of Lilac is so special to me, because without reading the lyrics you'd never guess it was a breakup song and yet it makes so much sense. Lilac is a representation of choosing to remember the good times rather than allowing those memories to be tarnished by the end - choosing to treasure that person's time in your life rather than mourning their departure.
That is one way to interpret it.. that's the beauty of the lyrics you can interpret it in multiple ways. The actual interpretation was her saying good bye to her 20s and welcoming her 30s. Each train compartments signifies different part of her 20s.. The first being when she just entered the industry, the next showing how she was enjoying success a bit, the fight one showing how competitive the industry is (basically fighting to put food on your table), the animation linking a bit towards ending of her 20s with (the eight era). At the end she says bye to her 20s.. and is excited and looking forward to her 30s.

I came across IU first as an actress before I knew she made music because I'm more into kdramas than kpop and that was a learning curve in improvement that made me like her a lot. She's very talented and has great range and emotion in her voice. Though her songs tend to be hit or miss with me I appreciate her as an artist and genuinely think shes great. I prefer more when she doesnt lean too much into her breathy tone, which she likes to do a lot especially in early songs, because her full voice is excellent; probably why eight is still one of my favorites from her.

Heyyy plant person here. That snake plant looks good but you should get a proper pot lol. It needs a drainage hole so that the water doesn’t just sit there forever rotting the roots. Heyyy plant person here. That snake plant looks good but you should get a proper pot lol. It needs a drainage hole so that the water doesn’t just sit there forever rotting the roots. Also make sure you protect the tips. If a spider plants tips get broken and turns brown, they’ll stop growing. They aren’t dead but they’ll never grow taller. Protect the tip! Lol
