- There are growing fears about the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on the music industry.
A UK parliamentary committee is calling on the government to stop AI firms damaging the business.
They cited examples of musicians not being credited for their work and the deepfaking of artists, such as Dua Lipa and Taylor Swift.

Well, it should be banned. And honestly all governments should implement a system that makes every move of AI trackable so the person giving the commands to the AI can be punished for their actions. AI must be regulated asap.

It is disconcerting when he calls them artists. Real artists are not in it for the money, and would sooner give it away than fight to keep others from making money off their art. Silly in my eyes. Rather rethink the industry, the music industry.
AI is doing what every singer did. They grew up listing to music they love and taking what they liked and put their spin on it. You ask any Singer what Singers they are influenced by and they will spit out a dozen names.
A lot of music is already fake anyway. (e.g. pitch correction making every human a perfect singer, unrealistic vibrato added to half of songs, etc.)
But not for the avg person? Just them?

Then program the AI to credit the inspirations, every one of the artists he mentioned will have grown up listening to and absorbing the music of others. Human learning isn't really that different from machine learning of AI's which are also not robots.
What they're worried about is when the AI generated fakes end up being better but it's harder to monetise without a flesh and blood person they can parade about to sell the songs.
This ban will probably pass because there's money supporting the anti, same way there's money behind the lootboxes in videogames or the millions spent by the israeli lobby to promote a zionist ideology of hate.

Yes, copying artists via AI should be banned.
It would be unenforceable. AI tools are nothing but math and code - anyone can download them and learn the basics in a couple of hours. A couple of days practice and you're good enough to make music that's a passible imitation of a recognised artist. A ban would achieve nothing.
I’m pro-AI but I can’t deny that imitating someone’s voice to say things they never said, or to sing a song they never sang, is invasive and dangerous. It’s going to be really hard to distinguish reality from fiction when online in the upcoming years.
