Skills do not equal talent, there's a bunch of videos of Messi doing skills moves, but in the real games he was always about efficiency via body feints and ball control, that's real raw talent. And of those you mentioned, only R9 (and maybe Maradona in an era with slower players) comes close to Messi's ability. Neymar, Pele and Ronaldinho are nowhere near.
Yamal has the vision, the passing, the dribbling, the shots from outside the box, doesn't dive, and good enough pace. He is still growing and might get taller and faster, probably ending up closer to Leao physically. If he develops more pace and strength, Yamal will be truly frightening

I have seen Messi from the beginning, for those who try to compare Yamal with Messi, they only have to watch videos of him at his age, Messi gives the impression that he could play alone, even if he lost the ball he would run to recover it. He could come out from his goal and dribble past all the players and score at a crazy speed, the control of the ball that he had at that age was unique. Yamal is an incredible player with very similar things to Messi such as his shot, control and vision. The ridiculous thing is that they compare him directly with Messi considered the best player in history, start by seeing if he is better than Neymar at the same age for example.
True. He can be as good as Neymar but also remember that luck is part of it for even Messi. If he has an injury free career and a good management at Barca, he'll surpass Neymar. But he can't reach Messi because Messi's stats are ridiculous. Hard to score as consistently as Haaland and Haaland has not even scored 91 in a year with that number of assists. So that's part of what one will have to do to surpass Messi

People have short memories :) I think if Barca was in simular situation back then, and Messi was picked 1-2 years before due to lack of players in the first squad, then he would probably have proven to be ready a bit earlier just as Yamal, Pedri, Gavi etc. Luckily they waited with Messi back then. In the last 20 years people have mentioned someone each season as "the new MEssi". And some of have like a decent season, but nowwhere close to any standard season of MEssis good ones. Yamal, Fati, Salah (ppl did call him the new Messi back then...), Kubo (when young), Seung-Woo (when young) - the list continues (just do a search, its mind-boggling). So far Yamal is probably one of the better candidates. But I will wait 10-20 years and see. 30/40+ goals each season, as many assist, the techical level, dribbles etc. Lets wait and see :) I root for Yamal. But in my mind there is no way he will maintain that level of Messi. He will make a name for himself that is for sure!

Every time Messi got the ball, the world of football would hold their breath. Not quite sure that Yamal is quite there yet. We've seen a lot of players like this that were supposed to be the next best thing. Neymar was supposed to carry Brazil on his back but he's always injured when it's time. Everyone was saying that Ansu Fati was going to be the next young talent. It's hard to remain consistent. Time will definitely tell, but I'm not seeing the comparison. And this is not a stab at Yamal. Until coaches start sweating when seeing him warm up, odd comparison. Let's seeing how he personally does on October 27th against RM. He's looking great early on, but let's wait until teams settle in more and the likes of RM and AM arrive. I'd love to be proven wrong.

Lamine Yamal has a very distinct difference. He is extremly smart, especially for his age.
He is less of a dribbler (although world class at that as well) and more so very smart with the ball.
He does not accelerate/ decelerate like Messi, because of his height.
He is more like a Xavi , Robben junction.

As a Barca fan since the days of Romario, I don't like this debate as it is beginning to divide us Barca fans. A lot of Barca fans still worship and adore Messi, so no other player will ever come close to him, not even from Barca. However, Barca fans should be glad that Yamal is beginning to be hyped by the media as the best player in the world right now instead of Mbappe, Vinicius or Haaland etc. The last time I checked, this should have been Mbappe's, Vinicius, Rodrygo's or Haaland's era of dominance. But slowly, the media attention is being drawn towards Lamine Yamal, a La Masia wonder kid. So Barca fans should be happy rather than pulling Yamal down.

Messi at 17 led the Argentina U-20 team to victory in the FIFA U-20 World Cup and he was the 1st youngest player to join the senior team FC Barcelona frm Lamasia. So no Lamine is good but not better than Messi at 17. what Lamine did however was to be introduced to the limelight earlier than Messi was. Lamine was selected to join the senior team at 16 which was a yr earlier that MESSi which now makes him the youngest to have joined the senior side
Technically he did it at 15. After we won the league he was allowed to play 2-3 matches in the league

I mean, Lamal won the Euros too, which is a far more difficult competition.
He won the u -17 euros and the normal euros (and he was the top contributor in the tournament over KDB, Kroos, etc.) Accolades wise they’re right there. I don’t think anyone can dribble an entire team like Messi though 😂. I think Lamine will reach some accolades like WC as well but the raw skill Messi has is a tough thing to beat.
