Ok...was checking my phone while visiting Jason who's in palliative care unfortunately. So we're talking and i hadn't told him this was coming as it was to be a surprise and then i see this notification pop up on my phone lo and behold it's the reaction video (which i did not expect so soon).
So all of you don't know the details but i can tell you this was so emotional. Grabbed the headphones and the tablet for a bigger screen and we got to watch this together. It was hard to choose between this a d another song but Jason loves the instrumental so we went with that.
Now i can tell you this is a moment i will never forget and Jason is having one of his better days today. He's got a terminal form of cancer in the spine. After i stepped (to get a drink) and cried as to not sully the positive vibes.
This is the best online community ever....and im not being specific to guitar communities. Michael....you're just the best and your crew are salt of the earth people.
Thanks for making a very hard time that much more bearable. I was going to say i don't know if you realize what a big deal this is for Jason especially...but i think you do.
And i know this video won't drive the algorithm, but I love seeing Colin on your page. Some people will know....he's definitely paid his dues.
Thank you so much and may god bless you 🙏

I'm from a little town in Saskatchewan where Colin James was born. He wound up in Vancouver, opened for SRV when he was about 18 and another act dropped out, and then charged through rock, big band, swing, blues, and damn near any genre you could imagine. His version of "Into The Mystic" is my favorite.
Saw him the first time live with Jeff Healey at a little venue in Calgary and then caught him in Toronto and Manhatta. Had a chance to chat with him a bit in Manhattan. Was as nice as you can be.

Hey Michael. As a proud Canadian, SO glad you picked a CJ song!!! He's so amazing. Ice seen him at least 11 times live and he's great every time.
This song Speechless was written when he hear of the news of SRV. It's a truly poignant song because SRV gave him a shot as an opening act back in the 80s.
Check out all his stuff because it's all so good. He's ana amazing writer, player, singer and musician
    Cheers!!!

Sorry to hear about Jason cancer has had its run through my family so my heart goes out to his.. Mike should check out his other material. His catalogue includes working with a horn section in both Little Big Bands albums. Really solid stuff. His singing voice is great. He's a musician's musician. He's not afraid to let the other band members shine and they are damn good..

OMG Michael. I've been wondering about leads over different chords for years and you just cleared it up for me in this video. I knew that just playing in the key center / scale of the key worked, but I also knew that I heard others doing more advanced things beyond that and I wasn't sure if I should solo in the key of the song or the scale of the chord playing at the time. Your explanation makes perfect sense, I really appreciate all you do!

This will open video on RUclips channel and now when you pause video no grid popup. This is happening because you are watching video embedded from a different site and the grid is showing video recommendations from them. Hope this helps Michael Cheers from Canada

I think he played too loud, basic blues played at a high volume can make you stand out like a sore thumb,he's very melodic, but I always like to hear what a player is soloing over, once you get stuck in the high volume mode, you lose a lot of opportunity to push the dynamics when you really need them, effects the way you have to play, and everything, when, your dependent on volume for your style.
