Homemade Wood Splitting BEAST

  • In this video we get to play with a monster of a tool. A homemade wood splitter powered by the hydraulics on a tractor that drive a large cylinder with a blade of the end. Don't stick your hands in it...
As much as I love splitting the old fashioned way with an axe, the inner child in me can't resist the opportunity to play with big machines.

The starscape at the end nearly worked! Here in Wales, Venus in the east is very prominent at 6am UK time, with Beetlegeuse over in the NW. In the evening, Neptune and Saturn are visible.
I find Stellarium app the best, clearest and easiest to use, enjoy.

A bit different to picking up a few branches to fuel The Beast! Lovely, lovely set up you both have there.

Nice bit of kit. Just catching up with videos as in remote Scotland and signal, data crap. Seen someone with a setup like this on a Bobcat loader. Oh us boys with toys haha. Brilliant video Ash. As you know I love this sort of stuff

Maybe you can build your own? Andrew Camarata did a video 5 years ago about spliting logs "Building a 4 way splitter wedge" he had no waste wood and he split really big ones like 43" :)

Before you know it that'll all be under snow again or at least glistening from the frost.

What hard work, but you two make such a good team.
You never know how hard a winter in Sweden will be.
How much wood do you need?

We still don't know exactly how much we need as we installed the second fire half way through last winter. Hopefully have a better idea after this year though!

Very satisfying being mesmerised by the log splitter, obviously you deliberately cut some of it into dog sized pieces for his entertainment!

Awesome and simple piece of kit 👌 and it does sound like it's munching celery sticks.😮

Great documentary style! Agree about splitting logs being therapeutic - don't need a gym!
Just back from 10 days in Sweden - further down on the west coast - glorious even though windy and rainy at times. Still had mossies - they always find me!
    Cheers

It is a bit 😅 Although, it's bit me in the ass because a lot of the wood from the splitter was crushed so now i have an abundance of kindling... Simple is always better!

@@ash.pollard Hand axe keeps you fit, too. When you get to my age you'll be grateful for the extra muscles 🙂
