In Arknights, every 6star operator (who is not limited) comes to the standart pool as soon as their debut banner starts. The exeption being limited Operators, who are spcial because they release every 3 months and you can only get them from limited banner. And then there is kernel banner, where you can get older operators, who are not in the standart pool anymore. You can also buy standart and kernel operators from shop and older limited operators from limited banner tokens. And there is recruitment where you can get 6star kernel operators for free but you have to be lucky. In Honkai Impact its similar. Many old valks are added to standart banner and you can buy some of them in the shop for end game currency. Like in the video you can also get them form Battlepass but only if you spend money. And older characters, manly herrschers sometimes get a devine key, that alters their gameplay, gives new ults and change thier role. The newest being HoFi and HoO who get new astral ring to work with pt2 units.

As long as people pulling on the rerun banners they have no incentive to change it

yeah this, just last week all people are commenting on all videos about how they hate powercreep, yet after Therta release, you can see most people commenting and flexing how they pulled multiple eidolons for her. LOL

Giving discounts for rerun characters sounds like the fastest way to boost powercreep and make a company lose profit / make a loss.
If a character gets cheaper by a factor of n every patch, the newest character has to be n-copies times stronger than the said rerun character. In other words, if a character gets 50% discount upon rerun, to make the next character be on equal par to the rerun character, they need to be on par with the C1/E1/M1 of the said rerun character, otherwise it's wiser to get the rerun character anyways, and the new character's C2/E2/M2 needs to be as strong as the rerun character's C5/E5/M5. This system grows exponentially, meaning if the rerun comes fast, the growth can and will be uncontrollable.
There is no incentive from a character strength-wise for one to get a character upon release before rerun, meaning that the devs just have to leave with that (aka not make a profit / make a loss), or they will have to insanely powercreep the environment to make it so that it heavily increases FOMO, making people want to get the new characters (which means they need to be stronger than the rerun counterpart, or the reruns are super duper far apart). Otherwise, there is really no alternative to "getting more characters per pull" for any type of players, whether you are a collector, META player or just a casual.

I play Dokkan and introduce an "EZA" into the Hoyo games will literally make everyone happy.
    • It doesnt impact whales because they probably already have them and will just give them a reason to use their old toys again.
    • f2p will be happy to see that their past investment was not wasted.
    • Meta/Hardcore players will have more tools to play around and experiment with.
    • Waifu/husbando chaser will be able to both play who they like and have it also be viable.
But right now, they won't do it cause they would rather have us roll for the new units that might support those old characters. Some might not even get anything to help them for a long time. Look at DoT in HSR.

Same, I stopped buying the monthly thing the moment I saw Feixiao getting shat on within TWO PATCH 😂 she was the QUEEN and all of the sudden, then the bosses and enemies’ HP spiked 300% more than how they used to be per patch and now she is literally ass. They legit ramped things up very rapidly for some damn reason, and there’s a chart and trend data that proves that. Its ridiculous, then we have a Singaporean chinglish shitting on the casuals because of what his Chinese mega corporation game company’s exploitative bussiness practices does (also isnt it funny the only people that defended him are the people in the hoyolab app 😂)

Pokemon Masters legit puts some characters on permanent banners after some time, and have regular selectors for older units

craziest thing is that silver wolf was power crept before she even came out (as a debuffer.) She was released after pela and is somehow worse then her.

Look at what reverse 1999 doing, and how they buff their older units, it just goes to show that turn based game powercreep is to be expected is not an argument. If you inflate HP then buff older units. Lol SW in new story had a mass aoe ult, in game it's single target, and now with rerun they are literally preying on newcomers, that don't know any better, to pull trash char in this economy. Not to mention how predatory they are with their reruns. They powercrept Sparkle hard, then reran her, accurate before Sunday release. I can go on and on about it. But with practices that this greedy company does I bet if they ever introduce buff to older units it would be a new path where you can have to pull for new form of a powercrept char that you already have on full price. Mark my words, I hope I'm wrong.

@@midnight.blue42 I would rather use RMC than Sparkle tbh, she is tremendously disappointing pull. Her value went down hard. Had I known I'd pulled for Robin. I also have Sunday and using Sunday + Sparkle with DHIL gave me 6 cycles on bug moc 12. Which is like bruh everything is stacked in my builds. I've even DHIL sig and Sunday's sig, I'd probably just switch Sparkle to RMC and that'll be that.

I don’t know if it’s because of how they market the characters, but they are “limited characters”. So they will be around for who knows when. If the characters could just be directly purchased later then they lose a lot on sales I feel. Keep in mind it’s like $30 for a 10 pull without the top up. To make a whole S rank character buyable after $40 of battle passes would probably feel insulting to older players who invested, or cause people to outright not buy.
Additionally, if they did make S ranks this cheap later on they are only incentivized more to power creep since you can get the old units anyways
Even if you could get a character from some other resource like Nikke, you still have to take tons of time to invest in them anyways. Sure you have the character for collection purposes, but who cares when you will never use them?
You could buff old characters, but that’s a lot of extra testing for a unit and it takes spotlight away from the newer character they are also trying to sell. Miyabi’s strength is part of her selling point. If they just made Ellen that strong with multiplier increases then the game will get progressively harder and make A ranks worthless.
It just kinda sucks that regardless of what happens there’s just another problem to face

Are you saying these massive companies can't implement these changes one after the other easily? The problem is not that they will "lose" money, the problem is they don't earn stupid amounts of money as fast, current companies don't work on a "How much money can be earned on the long term" basis but on a "How fast can the same amount of money be gathered?"
After all investors don't care if Genshin is a sustainable business in the long term (Which for them fortunately it has been), all they care about is how fast can they achieve MORE money because for investors any amount of money is never enough, they don't want big money, they want ALL the money and they want it NOW

  • @boyfriendkisser

i think hoyo doesn't want to make old units easier to obtain because of how much dupes affect them and it really sucks. eg. in genshin they're worried that if childe was cheaper to obtain people would just get c6 childe instead of c0 neuvillette (& idk how much they even compare it's just an example). in honkai impact 3 you can obtain old units easily eventually, they're given away in events or become farmable etc. but it's because the game's powercreep is designed so new units at one copy beat old ones at maxed copies. there's drawbacks to both idk which is preferable but i'd like to be able to collect all the characters and have access to all their unique playstyles eventually without having to spend a lot of money

ngl i hate how hoyo fans just refuse change on bad and predatory aspects of the game its crazy how they will defend hoyo for some of these bad aspects of the game but if you go from any gacha game to a hoyo game you can see the huge downgrade in the gacha aspect

  • @Mijoulin
    @Mijoulin 13 дней назад

yea atm HSR seems to buff old characters through new characters. Like Jing Yuan through Sunday. I think they're doing this, because they think
    a) people having the old character will also buy the new one to make their "investment" in the old character mean something and b) new players may buy both the new and the old character
So instead of buffing an old character and only sell the old character to people that don't have it already, you have two ways of selling to players. Additionally if your game doesn't get a lot of new players, thus older characters are already owned by 60%+ of the players and by 80%+ of the players that could be convinced to pull it (because some players will never pull a character, no matter how good it is, because it's male for example), then there's just no real reason to actively buff old characters, because you would lose income. I think IF HSR gets tons of new players, then that may become a more lucrative option though.
But I agree with you that it would be nicer for us consumers and if they're "dropping" old characters completely and do not plan to buff them through new characters anymore, then the easiest thing would be to just add them to the standard banner. Because Silverwulf is still better than Yanqing.. :D

All those western CC's say " don't pull the character if you don't support the system" and they always complain about banners and fomo they create... And always pull on the banner "promoting" the characters... Yes even TECTONE is a hypocrite: a man on path of changing: more like that path is super dumb, whenever i click on his videos i see him saying "i did a bad thing but he did it less bad, so you are saying i am more wrong" this always shows the audience he caters to and yes then he argues " those who say i did bad are dumb and guilty"
