Song title is "I Lie Awake". The "Treat Her Groovy" CD on Cherry Red includes both of our last two albums, by which time our focus was more on the ballads, so if that is what you like of ours, that would be a good selection. On the other hand, if you like our earlier tunes, the garage genre material, such as "I Lie Awake" - you might favor the Sundazed collection called "At The River's Edge" - your call my friend... Thanks for appreciating our music, regardless of the era/style.
Thanks for the accolades; I thought the show at the Warsaw was killer - very glad to see that you enjoyed our set the best. You have no idea how much work went into relearning the garage stuff since it appeals to only a very select crowd (me among them - and it seems you too...) - put those all together just for CS '07! Blessings to you and yours this coming holiday season, Ray, founding member, New Colony Six
The sound here is excellent. You really polished these songs. I saw you folks with the Buckinghams, and the Shadows of Knights at the Grant Park Band Shell in I believe 1966. I was 12 years old, and you only enhanced my desire to love and play music. "I will always Think about you," was always my favorite song of N.C.S.. I married a Chicago lady from the South-side. I turned her on to this my favorite song of N.C.S. and she loved it and the video of it. The one where the first lady shown is sitting down. I'd love to hear you guys play in Heaven, but you have to know and love Jesus, who has blessed your band and personal lives over the decades. Ask Him into your heart right now if you have not before. All you have to be is honest and confess to Jesus and not to anyone else your sins and that you're finished with taking lightly sin. If you are totally sincere you will be a member of total bliss with a home waiting for you. Love from millions of saints and angels, and you will never have fear, worry, pain, despair, nor sickness again. You will have no more tears, except the ones from joy, seeing Jesus always loved you and has many past friends to greet you and have free breakfast, lunch, and dinner with, and reminisce the good times. Ask Jesus to forgive you now, and you are guaranteed a loving family and a home in Paradise forever.
Kinda was, my friend, but in retrospect, I am so glad we did the show and even more so that this pirate copy wound up all over the place\ - what a hoot! I believe the original kinescope is still available to be seen at Chicago's Museum of Broadcast Communications... And if you are ever in Chicago when we have a gig, you can still see me sing the tune live, now almost 45 years after its initial release!
Haha! That's Awesome. im only 13 if you can believe it and a few months ago i bought "colonization" and i knew nothing of the band. Now im hooked. Thank you for your great music.
Thanks for posting this! I've always remembered the stuff that the group put out on Mercury Records like "Things I'd Like To Say" and "I Will Always Think About You." Thirteen years ago, Rhino put out their greatest hits collection which encompasses the stuff on Sentar and the other labels they recorded on, I became hooked big time! This was great!
The first song I ever heard by New Colony Six was "Roll On" which was very popular in California. Then when I found New Colony Six on RUclips I was amazed at how great they are - and I listened to song after song. Now I listen to their CD in my car every day consistently (and I am 53 years old.) (One of my other favorite groups is Yellow Balloon.)
@bbdowns124 Dickeyboyz knows all this because he is my younger brother and I am the founding member of the New Colony Six - 3rd from the left in the1965 video and center stage today & in the video from 2005!
I like the early new county six music more of a rock ‘n’ roll garage band. And when they went out to the ballads later on with songs like things I’d like to say they were OK but I prefer the New county six from 1964 until 1968🎩🎩🎩🎩🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶
I think the idea of the show was to try to teach the kids to dance and the cuteness appeal (or stomach nausea in your case) and show popularity came from their efforts. Live version of America's Funniest Home Videos... As to the high school girls, we were hitting up on Pandora and the MILFs... ;o)
From St.Patrick High School in Chicago.!!! Near my old neighborhood.!!!
Music still sounds better than anything today.
I'm class of '73 St Pat's. Proud to say I went to the same school as them!
So many groups of this era had such beautiful vocals
I'm 67 years old, Still enjoy there

Great singing never ever goes out of style.

"Breakthrough" is one of the 10 best LP's of the 60's!
Amazing band!!!

I like the NC6 on Kiddie A-Go-Go from '66 performing "I Lie Awake". This was one of their best songs from their incredible "Breakthrough" LP!
Haha!
That's Awesome.
im only 13 if you can believe it and a few months ago i bought "colonization" and i knew nothing of the band. Now im hooked.
Thank you for your great music.
I could have been there dancing in my dorky white kid way also. I turned 60 years old (young at heart) aug 2020.
Where are those children now in 2024 ? What are they doing ? Who are they married to ?
Great song from a Great Group
This is like Spinal Tap playing the Military Dance .
Great harmonization - great group! better than ever :)
I love the New Colony Six but I can't believe that there was a Kiddie-A- Go-Go. I never saw such videos in the Sixties.
The show was out of Chicago and I don’t think there’s syndicated it although if it was on WGN it might’ve been showing all over America I don’t know
I ever heard by them,Wish I knew if there were anymore. Wish they would play

What's the second song in the 2005 video? Trying to find this song on RUclips but can't figure out the title.
OMG!!
What is this!!! What a scream...

Love the music formatter what but was there prerecorded music and vocals involved??

when are they coming to Minneapolis/St. Paul area of Minnesota???

I really don't want to go! Last song O
this is not from the Mike Douglas show..
I grew up in chicago in the 50s&60s was a big fan of the NC6 Ronnie Rice who I believe is associated with Hawaiian Tropic? .
What part of Chicago is NC6 from? I somehow remember the north shore burbs?
Belmont and Austin - St.Patrick High School in Chicago.
jeez they mus've hated playing second fiddle to a buncha little kids!
this must have been so embarassing for them.
lol.
great band.
what kind of outfits did the Charlatans wear?
The kids dancing are the future are. The future Henry Rollins Dave mustaine and Courtney love gen
And some older ones would be howard stern dee Snyder and opra
I could be a retro teeny booper/ too
Not Ronnie Rice....sorry not the the same on song #2.....
they all wore military style uniforms
no Paul Revere came later
Lmao. obviously tim leery's study of lsd effects on children
