Imo removing 9 starters has to be the hardest part.. getting the exact 4 cards needed is alot easier since a.) it’s only 3 different cards-aka you can copy one of them w/ mirror or an event, b.) you can add relics that increase your ability to get cards (w/ the right 2 relics you have 8 cards to choose from each fight, plus another relic allows you to add a card when u rest) c.) you can add relics which guarantee that you get already upgraded cards so you don’t have to rely on rest locations/events for upgrades. TLDR: there’s a lot of ways to get cards but only a couple ways to remove cards. Also though, I didn’t even think about how hard it’d be to not get killed while building that deck-I imagine your damage output would be terrible for a good chunk of the run lol
@@hawkeyez46 if I’m reading it correctly it’s not an Ascension run? Easy af in that case, you just need the barricade up and start pumping block. It doesn’t have to come from entrench, though that’s obviously the best way to do it. From there it’s a matter of getting body slam, lol
This strategy is so insane, that I just tried it myself, and got exactly what I needed: Barricade, Body Slam, and 2 Entrenches. I wasn't able to get my deck below 13 cards, but I got what I needed on my first try, and was finally able to beat the heart with Ironclad, and didn't even take a single hit lmao
In Slay the Spire it is usually counterproductive to try specific strats and build specific decks from the start. The strategy of taking cards that will help to survive act boss and elites first. Only after getting several relics and cards one can reasonably decide what you may need for you deck to win the game. Barricade + Entrench + Body slam is not guarantied to drop in a single run. BTW this minimalist set has its drawbacks. All small decks are very vulnerable to Status card spam from enemies. Without the means to draw cards and exhaust status effects a deck is easily paralyzed. So, if the game gives you good cards for strength strategy it is perfectly fine to build a strength deck. It can be more powerful than this one. A couple of upgraded Limit Breaks +an initial strength source can melt enemies just fine. There are at least dozen of perfectly fine Ironclad deck archetypes that can win the game.

As with most lightning builds, it just lacks any and all survivability. First turn you deal 3 damage (with starting relic), then second turn you deal 51 plus whatever the power you got is. After that, you deal 68+7X per turn. That’s just way too slow to have literally no survivability aside from the occasional buffer card. And that’s just how basically any lightning deck goes unless it’s infinite. It’s just so slow. It’ll kill the awakened one, but you’ll probably be pretty low on hp by the time you get there from other fights from the same issues.
I had a deck so strong on turn 1 it was able to kill him with nothing but 4 damage reapers then second phase do it with 7 damage reapers infinite draw and create reaper deck with dark embraces and dual wield reapers with sundial and blood letting
@@ryanbaker2762 there was a bug a while ago that let you delete all strikes and defends from the deck. Might have done it then. It’s done using the “transform all strikes and defends” reward

The hard part is being offered those exact 4 cards, being able to upgrade them and remove 9 starters, while not getting killed along the way.

Easy af to get those cards. Problem is always thinning your deck. You don't get many chances unless u get some specific relics.
All I want to know is how many tries it took you get that deck together.

Another good option with a regular-sized deck is to pick up Headbutt so you can keep drawing the Entrench.
