Dewalt 54v skil saw making a bad grinding sound. How to replace a bad bearing.

- Very disappointed with dewalt for the availability of spare parts for these 54v saws. Averting to do with the motor is all sold together as a service kit.
Stator, rotor, controler, switch and even the bearings. All sold as one part, a part that is more expensive than the tool itself.
The bottom bearing on this one failed, But instead of bumping the saw (like dewalt wants) or buying a radiculasly priced service kit. I simply replaced the standard sized 6002 bearing.
From what I'm seeing and the feedback I'm getting. The 54v range of tools are are not designed around longevity of repairablity. They are more suited to heavy work that requires cordless tools and 18v range will not do.

I love how every piece is inspected. It’s beautiful, the wisdom and knowledge possessed by one individual. Thank you Dean!

How you remember how to put these tools back together does my head in. It’s ok if you’re doing the same tool’s every day,..l get that. But ,odd brands ( to me anyway), with springs, gears, different screw sizes, wires that connect back to who knows where,..and the inevitable important “ thingo” that shoots off into the atmosphere never to be seen again,..😳 l would just go nuts, ( hate OCD!) . I salute you.🫡
Still got the fuses out for the Hikoki.
another great job
Had to go and look that up Dean: looks like the Type2 model of that saw does have the rotor available as a separate part: what’s the bet that the service kit for the Type 1 “upgrades” it to a Type 2😂
Very nice
Tremenda potencia la que se le siente a esa makina 😊
Top job
Very good
Gear has been broken.
Never use cheap bearing for your powertools. I use cheap powertools but all my powertools use SKF bearings or FAG bearings.
If bearing has been damage, all is damage. Bearing is a critical point for all type of motor.
What grease do you use when you repair. I know Milwaukee has many types of grease like g and y
White lithium grease
High-performance Lucas, oil protection, Inc. White lithium, greased multipurpose.
What drill bit are you using on the Bosch?
Just out of interest is it the 6 amp and the nine amp 54 volt batteries that you see having problems with cells getting out balance and showing as faulty? or is it just the six amp ones? love to know your findings as I might be jumping onto the flexvolt platform
My old six amp didn't last long. China. The next six amp was Korean and is still going strong and seems to hold more power/ work time. Would love the twelve amp but just use my corded Makita for the tough jobs.
@@patrickcowan8701 thanks for the feedback. I wasn't aware their packs were manufactured in two different countries
Dean how much does a repair like this usually cost
Cannot mind the exact charge. I think it was 60 euro
See that's where it's important for you guys to voice your opinions to DeWalt. And every one of you and the people that use the tools should voice their opinions to DeWalt so they change that stuff so we're not like Milwaukee because Milwaukee's junk
Just buy the right hand drive model and save some Bucks. Or buy a skil saw.
Worked at Dewalt service center for many yrs. Can’t tell u how many Dewalt worm drives I’ve repaired that still sound like death. Replaced bearings, gears , spindle etc. still wasn’t happy with it.
