How come I didn't get the same value for the critical loads?
at 1:22 you wrote 4 instead of 16 (2^4) in the denominator of the Pcr formula. Please check. Nevertheless the final answer i.e. 7.06 kN and 7.88kN are correct.

Why was the moment of inertia formula used the circle one?
AB and BC are rods (circular cross-sections). You can tell by the given diameter information, 18 and 22 mm.
