Wolfenstein The New Order General Deathshead
Wolfenstein The New Order Meeting Deathshead
Who would've thought that the generic evil scientist from Return to Castle Wolfenstein would turn out to be one of the most frighteningly demented bastards in FPS history?
Good point
KnoxCarbon ‚
KnoxCarbon yeah I play two wolfenstein on ps2 and the ps3 that came at 2008 or 2009 I think where he was the antagonist
Thanks i do my best
I have never clicked on a video faster, that man gifted me with the tesla gun! (I don't know if i said it right...) and when my friends told me they where better than me i gave then one life and 7 minutes to beat the first super soldier! My record is a little bit over 6 minutes... shoot the cans with a rpg when he's right next to it and the rest is easy-er than eating (and liking) my cooking!
Good times.... Good times....
(Spoilers)
But so sad that he doesn't trust his own creation so he sends out scientists with pistols at the same time... and to bad that the player couldn't do anything to kill him before he escaped!
god I remember him being a stereotype of a Nazi doctor back in rtcw so glad they made him so much more
Glad you remembered. On return to catle wolfenstein deathshead wears a monocle but here idk. He was working his projects on Norway but you scared him by killing his army, scientists, and creations. And then the only hope for the nazis are the one and only Heinrich. Got resurrected
@@piemazingyt5685 Well funny fact is that Deathshead was ordered to produce his super soldiers only as some sort of wessels to be possesed by Heinrich and his knights which pissed him off a lot since he does not like supernatural aspects and wanted to use his creations as warmachines. Later when he was put in charge again in Wolfenstein 2009 he was also taking care of paranormal stuff but he could meet BJ and have his revenge so he took the job. Years later Nazi leaders finally realised his machines can be used to help win the war on the battlefield so they finally let him produce them this way which ultimatelly make Nazis win the war. Nazis could have won years ago if their leaders were not incompetent paranormal fetishist and listened Strasse from the start LOL-
U. A NAZI DOCTOR
@@RadekCrazy1 well no doubt he was right, cause the final boss in rctw would have been much harder if the super soldiers weren't sacrificed, their undead versions were easy asf
@@piemazingyt5685 He does wear a monocle in certain parts of the game. When he kills either Wyatt or Fergus. He puts on his monocle. Also later in the game during the flashback of the torture, he is wearing his monocle. He is also wearing it in the painting of himself during the first part of the game.
Deathshead is such a sadistic and vile man, and the voice actor did a wonderful job portraying him. The way he hisses out every word, and remains so calm while he's committing such atrocities really adds a whole new layer of creepiness to the already extremely unsettling situation.
Definitely more unsettling that in the previous games, it's Dwight Schultz, you may remember him as "Howling Mad" Murdoch of the A-Team.

If Josef Mengele had a big budget boost for his "human experiments" . This would be the video game version if him
Well, thanks to Mengeles research, which was not at all destroyed, mind you, medicine is, what it is today, and billions of lives have been saved thanks to his medical research, so, what is worse then? The man doing the research, or the people, making use of it without remorse. Do you tell a doctor in the hospital, sorry, I rather die then getting medical treatment, since 70 years ago, some doctor made this procedure possible by experimenting on some people? I highly doubt it.
@@1Ashram That's cringe.

Ashram Azemus Actually, Dr Mengle's 'research' didn't have any scientific or medical merit whatsoever. He just enjoyed carving people up like turkeys.
A great villain must believe what he does is righteous.
You hit the nail right on the head; I've always found that the most compelling villains are the ones who are evil not for the sake of just being dicks, but because they have a grand vision for the future. Magneto, Light Yagami, Jigsaw/John Cramer, Sauron, all of them perform evil acts out of a belief that they are serving a greater purpose and will be vindicated by history.
Not to mention Jake Featherston.
So much for a villain who lived 100 years.
and then there is the joker!
Ash Green not really

7:51 - Not gonna lie but those 'super soldiers' or whatever they are called are one of the most scariest things in this game. I think it is so because of their size, strength, and the creepy noise they make when told what to do
Plus the fact they're human soldiers who have been genetically and mechanically modified specifically for war and turned into primitive fighters for the Nazis
I believe that they are not sapient, since they have their agression ramped up to extreme levels. However, it seems as if each was subjected to some sort of therapy and augmentation, which stimulates them with pain whenever an order is given and makes it more intense if they do not obey
the fact that the general is talking to them like dogs makes them more animal. They are like slaves with a mind of a domestic dog.
They're just regular soldiers wearing exo suits

Imagine how such b.j despises deathshead having to put up with his sick fantasies and experiments since the 2001 game. He's like, "when will you ever die?"
Ketorulz Strasse must be loving the hell out of this though, after having BJ ruin his plans for 2 whole games. This game felt like the badguy of you favorite Saturday morning cartoon finally winning over the hero.. quite different.
And it's so real... I mean according to the Wolfenstein wiki Deathshead is (at least) 100 years old, he looks so degenerated and ugly (he isn't called Deathshead for nothing...). Also, he survived BJ's assault on the X-labs (because of his rocket) and a f*cking crash with a blimp in Wolf2009. If Deathshead hadn't died in this game, I don't think I would have played any Wolfenstein anymore
If you ask me, refusing to show the dissection now was an amazing narrative decision.
wait till the last level
He said that it was a better idea they didn't show it right away but only lot later.
damn right, it was great idea to show it later on game, not in the first mission
Yeah, it made me regret my decision to sacrifice Wyatt, I thought he just cut out his eyes and he died from blood loss, but dear lord I was not prepared
They showed it later
I can never do a Fergus playthrough, Wyatt reminds me too much of my little brother and I’d never be able to watch him die

Exactly, mein fellow nazi.
Such a great villain the archetype is that of palpatine not physically intimidating but behind the flesh is a true demon.
Exactly. A villain doesn't have to look scary to be a great villain
But he looks scary
The fact Wyatt still hopes you can save him after you choose him is really upsetting. Fergus resigns himself to it and tells you it's alright.
I like how the Scottish guy is just calmly standing next to the door waiting for you to exit the incinerator room and when you finally kill the supersoldier he's just casually scratching the side of his neck. What a hard bastard.
I have to say.. Deathshead is one of the best gaming villains I've seen in a long time. To me, he was even more powerful than Vaas from Far Cry 3.
Why Thank you
what about that Nazi bitch
And probably as or even more powerful than the the didact from halo 4
Sturmbanfuhrer Iren Engel?
Frau Engel was even more insane in my opinion along with her little boy toy Bubba. Fucking hell all the characters from this game is god damn amazingly written.
I like the eyes on this one.
I like yours too.
Not This One, Someone broke it already
Assassino275 in this situation Prendegast was the luckiest one. As Deathshead didn’t like him and he he didn’t make him to choose between Fergus or Wyatt
Don't you fucking touch him!
That's him ! That's deathshead isn't it!?
Never did I want to crush the life out of a fictional character as much as I did General Deathshead. He is, to me, the ultimate collection of the extreme cruelties of Nazi Germany, from its sadistic concentration camp doctors to those who carried out the Final Solution to Hitler himself, coalesced into a single vile, wretched man.
I've played through W:TNO on both storylines, and I have to admit I found it more painful to sacrifice Wyatt than Fergus. I liked both of them immensely, but for some reason I knew that sacrificing Fergus was less damning...Wyatt's youth and optimism weren't weaknesses to me so much as the merits that made me feel he should be spared. Fergus was a grizzled, hardened war veteran who was far less afraid to die, and to do so for a younger soldier like Wyatt more worthy.
morbius109 Plus, Wyatt's fucking scream...
Agreed
The new order actually tones down how bad the nazis were. Deathshead is just a mad scientist with nazi flavouring. Hate him or not, the guy knows his science. The real guys were about sadism 1st, second and third.
True. Deathshead was a complete nutter, but he was damned brilliant.
RXdash78 Actually it tones it up at ridiculous levels, in pure Wolfenstein fashion
I find the most disturbing thing about this scene is the injured teammate at the end when he's panicking. As a Christian myself it hurts because the things he says are so easy to relate to and you can really feel his pain in the words. Amazing job done.
How the fuck does being a Christian help you relate to a rookie being killed by a sadistic Nazi
Just goes to show how bad religious brainwashing really is!
It’s interesting how Deathshead refers to one of the soldiers as “it” to him, none of them (and even possibly everyone else) aren’t people they’re just things for him to carve up or do god knows what to.
Whenever I read this guy's name, I always read it as "Death-shed."
Same bro
Well in a sense you are in General Deathshead’s personal Death-shed
Most underrated villain in video game history. Most games try really hard to make their villains scary but they only come across as edgy. Wolfenstein, on the other hand, pulled it off effortlessly. Deathshead is a genuinely terrifying and very believable character with a mind that matches up with some of the most twisted nazis at the Nuremberg trials. The thing I love most about him is how he puts on this veneer of righteousness and idealism when he speaks on the intercom, but when you meet him in person he reveals the demented, sadistic, and horrifying man he truly is. Many people complain about how little screen time he got, but I kinda like the limitation of our exposure to him. It adds an air of mystery as to what gruesome and demented experiments he's performing as you progress through the game.
the "what are you people doing in here" said by deathshead killed me

The choice between Wyatt and Fergus is interesting considering the Nazi ideology. Wyatt was a scared boy in the beginning, where as Fergus was the tough guy. Most gamers might choose to save Wyatt since most people are raised to care for those with weaker qualities. Where as gamers who appreciate more of the tougher ideology are more likely to choose to save Fergus.
I saved Wyatt because he was younger, and because I knew Fergus would understand. But it's a shitty choice either way.
I saved Fergus, just because he seemed like a veteran who knows what he is doing
I saved Fergus because he has a Scottish accent...
Xerrojaz
Pretty much my reasoning. If you've a choice of who to take with you into battle, and can only have one, I'd take the seasoned veteran over the inexperienced kid. They're more likely to survive, and more likely to be helpful.

Machinegames really did a good job on the villian. They made him like a guy you want to punch on the face immediately due to his cruelty. damn.
The first choice in this game never made me hate a video game villain more than this guy. Even during his bossfight my lower eyelid was propping up and down (English is my second language so sorry for the bad explanation) because I had sheer anger for what he did to my ally
Did Deathshead just say English is a dying language in the Wolfenstein universe?
Because German is spreading
Which is funny, because the English language itself has Medieval French and Anglo Saxon in it. A Germanic language.
I love Fergus reaction at 3:02 when deathhead pops out like such a non chalant what the hell not fazed at all or scared where everyone else begins to panic that there is a sign that man probably went through hell and back in ww1 maybe before deathhead was even a leader and saw Carnage so not much scares him
It's wyatt
I love that, even after all of the times Blasko has tried to kill Strauss and foiled his plans over the years, Strauss has no idea who he is: you're just another insect to him

@@Rudeljaeger they mention him going to the x-labs, but it's likely a different version of events or a reimagining of what we saw in RtCW - bear in mind the ubersoldat that blasko found there was far more advanced than the wired prototypes that Deathshead was working on in The Old Blood - despite the fact that The Old Blood takes place at a later calendar date.
General Deathshead's basically the embodiment of war crimes
Gen. Deathshead is probably one of the most evil villains I’ve ever come across in video games. He’s straight up sadistic. It sickened me even more when I realize he didn’t just take out the eyes of his victim😨😨
Still he is nothing compared to atrocities done on Hindus for 800 years by brutal invader, rapist and torturer army. Around 800 million Hindus were killed during these 800 years of attacks or so.
