Just started with aldi in Ireland, this really helped me understand the pallet stacking more, didn't get too much training on it but they complain a lot when other workers don't do it right so I'm trying to learn myself lol thanks for the video was very helpful, it seems like mostly common sense but it's hard sometimes when there's a lot of different size and weight cases/boxes! :)
I'm at lidl (UK) we have a pick rate per hour. Mine is low because I find it hard to bulid a good pallet when I get odd shaped items. Takes away my time.
I agree. You don't have time to stack them fast enough to put them by weight and size especially if you're loading a truck and getting the boxes from the conveyor belt. Then you get more small boxes than anything else so at a face pace it's hard to figure out what to put those until you find a place to put them. Lol
That second layer of big boxes has an overhang on the left side which is a big no no, plus you didn't use any slip sheets after two feet. If you use slip sheets every two feet it will increase the stability greatly.
Stretch wrap is very important especially if you are shipping the pallet out. Its important when stretch wrapping to get the tension just right on the machine especially with lightweight goods. Good luck with the machine and enjoy!
I'm here researching for my new job at a Walmart DC. Good stuff! I never thought about the tape for the ride to the wrap machine. That's an excellent idea and I will see if I can employ that.
Its a really great little trick, however be careful if you are dealing with colored boxes as the tape can damage print on a box, but it works great for standard shipping cartons.
H3ll yeaaaa!!!!that warehouse life and experience comes in handy..I've worked hundreds of warehouses and have picked up good habits and easier safer ways to work in a warehouse and be proficient 👌🏽🤘🏼👏🏽a little bit of tape goes a long but also finding patterns in your pallet stacking and utilizing any free space you can take advantage of😁
I always love seeing the progression of guys from their first day to once they are a few years in with their pallet stacking abilities. Its something that truly is half science half art
Great video, thank you. If you do want some feedback, something that might help your video quality out a lot is taking B-roll footage of the pallet or whatever the subject matter is, while your voice talks about it in the background. This helps visualize what you're saying and keeps the scene fresh. Example would be a walk around or more close in shots, going around the pallet. Cutting back to you as you talk, then back to another shot from a different angle. :) Hope it helps!
This is a pretty good video I think I now have a better understanding of this type of stacking. Going from Pepsi to PFG is ceartainly a transition started 3 weeks ago at a 97%. Hoping your videos will help me perfect my craft.
This is cool and all but what do you do when you have a 100 piece 6 stop pallet with boxes that are all different shapes and sizes. This is the most basic pallet I could think of. We have bags of onions and potatoes also that you can't stack nicely on top of due to it not being flat. Most of the time you won't have nice neat layers like this
Hi Novasso, For bags of onions or potatoes I would recommend looking into gaylords. They can be a saving grace when storing or moving an item when they just won't stack if they aren't super fragile.
I was hoping this would help me with order selecting lol... when there are different stops on the pallet for that order, and the boxes, and cases come in all random sizes while picking. Good video though 👍
Hi Justin, Do they give you case volume on your pick list or hand held? Its not a fix all, but I like to put case volume on LTL and FTL pick-list so the pickers can visualize the size of the box. Sometimes with the layout of the building and pick path it can be hard to plan ahead, but if you know a large or a small box is up next or 2nd to next you can sometimes plan your stacking ahead by a few picks deciding where each box goes. But I do agree it is annoying when you have to restack a pallet mid pick because you have a giant box that just doesn't fit anywhere lol
I haven't had a pallet fall over yet, but I feel like I could do better. The problem I have with this is my boxes aren't pre-sorted, because I unload a super unorganized truck. Basically, I can get tons of tiny boxes, then at the end get a giant box, or variations of this. I'm not sure if this is a question that can be answered properly, but how would I stack a pallet properly without them already being sorted?
Working in a company DC that speed is key. Also the company has some heavy, then light like croughtons and depends, then shampoo, dog food and soda 25 packs. We can use cardboard nonslip sheets but can't figure out how.

Hi DontWrite, Thats a good one I also want to do a container unload video soon, but haven't been able to line up filming with a container as they usually get in early and our director only is in a few days a week after lunch. We rarely, if ever, have any outgoing air freight so I'm not sure the next time we'll be packing one up, but if we get one I'll try to make a video with it before the guys send it out.
meh. Its not helpful to me. I know the basics heavy and big on bottom little in the middle... I want the complicated tips. You can get any shape box on your next pick what are the specific rules where each different shape should go... I make 13 cents per case I don't want to waste any time figuring out where to put any type of box. What if you have A LOT of little square boxes. there isn't enough space in the middle what do you do with them? You have different shaped long boxes. Where? Together? In the center on the edge?
Alot of u youtubers make sound as if u have a choice in picking what boxes u want to organize first.
