@@blizzardz9797 Sorry if I'm repeating something already discussed in the comments:
Did you catch the keyboard refrain from SOS played 2x at the very end of Keep An Eye on Dan? I may be otherthinking it, but if you read the lyrics of SOS, it's about the painful breakup of a relationship. It left me wondering if the motif from SOS was planted to say that Keep An Eye On Dan is a sequel to SOS. Like I say, I'm probably overthinking it, but one of ABBA's hallmarks is putting things in a melody or harmony in an exactly planned place.

  • @leilashampoo1408

Great reaction. ABBA Voyage is pure magic. What each song is about (from Bjorn himself):
"I Still Have Faith in You"
“When Benny played it to me, I thought, ‘This is really epic.’ It's about us and the bonds we have, about the loyalty we have to each other, and celebrating the fantastic career that we've gone through. Or haven't gone through-there's a lot left of it, as it seems-but there are more layers than that today in that lyric, but that I want the listener to find out by himself.”
    "When You Danced With Me"
“It's a bit Nordic, but maybe more Scottish and Irish. I lived in England for six years, between '84 and ’90, and I used to see these fairs that they had in the villages for the children. And that's what I saw before me when I heard the melody: a village fair, but somewhere in Ireland. It's about leavers and remainers. I grew up in a small town and I left it when I was 20. But somehow I'd come back to that little town and feel I have roots there.”
    "Little Things"
“Benny tells me he didn't think of it as a Christmas song, but I, the minute I heard it, I said it cannot be anything else. It is early, early Christmas morning. The stockings are hanging right there and then this couple wakes up. This could be played for Christmases to come. And that would be great, because we want to own Christmas and New Year's Eve, like with [1980’s] 'Happy New Year'.”
    "Don't Shut Me Down"
“At that time we were kind of getting the hang of what the ABBAtars would be. This is about a woman who has broken up and regrets breaking up. And she is going to come back and see if the guy will take her back. So she sits on a bench in a park and it gets dark. And finally she gets the courage up to go and knock on the door. That's it at face value, but I see it as us, as ABBAtars, knocking on the doors of the fans: Please take us as we are now and don't shut us down. It's a little flirt with the disco of the '70s, but other than that, I don't think that any of the old songs have had any impact on the new songs.”
    "Just a Notion"
“It's from '78 and it's never been released in its entirety before. There's been snippets on RUclips, but we thought it's a great song and it has very good vocals on it. Benny did a new backing track, so the band is new but the voices are old. And it illustrates in a way what we are doing in the ABBAtar concert in London, because we will have a live band but the original vocals.”
    "I Can Be That Woman"
“It's a country song, in essence. And a little gesture to the queen of country, as far as I'm concerned: Tammy Wynette. The good dog is called Tammy. There's a lot of stuff going into that song, but it's basically about someone who has come down from an addiction and finally come down into real life and is sorry about all the wasted years. But there's hope at the end of the tunnel: I can be that woman now. Only we know what is fact and what is fiction about our life experiences together. It's a kind of freedom that you get. With 70, you get that freedom.”
    "Keep an Eye on Dan"
“Dan is the little child; his two parents are divorced and he is being left with one parent. All of us who have been divorced know what it's like to leave that little kid and seeing how absorbed that little kid is with the other parent. And he waves, or she, and you stand there and you feel, 'Argh.' I find it interesting to explore things that happen in relationships that haven't been explored before. I don't think that this has.”
    "Bumblebee"
“I've always found bumblebees or squids as powerful symbols for what we might lose with climate change. It's a symbol of the loneliness we will feel when these creatures perhaps vanish because they cannot adapt.”

    "No Doubt About It"
“I've known a few people who kind of flare up and can't help it, but then very quickly sort of get calm again and say, 'Sorry, sorry, I shouldn't have done that. I shouldn't have said that.' So it is this woman, in that situation she is incensed with her husband, who is very calm. He knows, he just waits for it. And in the end it comes.”
    "Ode to Freedom"
“The concept of freedom is so intriguing and it's so different for different kinds of people. This song is so majestic. I could never say what my freedom is, because that would be received as, 'Oh, you can say that you are rich, you're famous. Da, da.' This is not my ode to freedom; it's about how if I ever wrote one, it would be simple. I don't know what it would be about, but I wish someone would write one.”

are endangered. I am so glad that ABBA is paying attention to this important
insect. It is essential for humanity's survival, together with the bees, as we all know. In addition,

Awesome to watch you enjoy the album. I have been on a listening loop of "No Doubt About It", my new favorite track on the album. Frida is terrific, the song reminds me of her Shine solo album and maybe a bit of Elaine by ABBA. ABBA records are always growers and the critics crucify them on EVERY album release for it... but who cares what they think! There are millions of people who will love each of these new songs for their own personal reasons. Something gets in on the first listen of a new ABBA track even if you were like "...meh" when you first heard it. You find yourself wanting to go back and give it another listen! My top Voyage tracks would be No Doubt About It, I Still Have Faith in You, Keep Your Eye On Dan, Don't Shut Me Down, Ode to Freedom, Just a Notion. Can't wait to receive my yellow vinyl of it.

I'm actually starting to hear it as a lament for one's oncoming death or perhaps a lamentation for (I hate to even say it) a dying planet. :) You are right; in a way it is upsetting to finish listening to this superb album. Because now we know these ten new masterpieces, but we also know that these were probably their last songs. And when will we ever receive a similar gift again. I very much enjoyed your thorough review of all the songs and, funnily, I agree with you on most of your observations and comments. I am glad that you as an Irishman were particularly honored by When you danced with me, it once again made me want to visit that country. And sorry to hear the distress that bees have caused you…
The production of each and every song is immaculate and they will all enter in the hall of masterpieces of pop music. The voices of Agnetha and Frida give the songs a soul that will leave a legacy in this world forever. The first Abba record that I bought was the Album and I saw Abba in concert in Frankfurt in 1979. They have followed me and I have followed them and being reunited with them after 40 years is kind of heartbreaking. The question that I now also have to ask myself is how 40 years can pass so quickly. Abba have grown older, my mum has grown old and I am a mature man myself now, in a way we went through a lot together. Each song holds so many memories; it brings me joy and sometimes hurts. It is the quality of timelessness that comes with them and that is the aspect that reconciles me with the fact of time passing.
I am glad that you also sense all these things when you are listening to their songs. You are very good at doing that and you are kind and show respect to the gift that they are giving to all of us. Their album for me is first of all an act of generosity because with Abba`s music a certain spirit follows that has a wisdom that nothing is 100% one thing or the other, which one can sense from the melancholy that even some of their happier songs have ... Thanks for taking the time to give us your experience of their music and for doing such a great job. All the best to you in Ireland - keep up the good work ...

One thing that no one has picked up on in the reviews I have watched is the ending music of Keep an Eye on Dan. As the song comes to a close, the music is that from SOS. An album like this does not need a top 5 indeed. You go with the flow on the music, the songs and attention to lyrics is wounderful to watch. Don’t feel presurred to release and just do it in your own flow. When you are ready to publish it’s fine. I’ve learned from this abba record and 40 years time elepse that only writing, singing and working when the time is right is more important that the amount of creative work. I’ve been waiting for all this time knowing that only when they would all feel up for it they would do another album. I can’t express what this music means to me but it’s a great gift as you mentioned. I don’t mind you take time! When you are ready it’s the best time. Thanks so much for your very efficient, honest, in depth Voyage reaction. I feel like we speak the same soul-music-language when it comes to Abba. Their lyrics and storytelling are from a different planet. Abba from the 70ies, now in their 70ies...the guys still as creative as ever, the ladies still with those beautiful voices. Most of all they stayed true to themselves... Now and then combined. Almost impossible to pick the Top 5. 'Don't shut me down' and 'Ode to Freedom' are masterpieces, in my humble opinion. Also love 'Keep an eye on Dan'... So uniquely different yet unmistakably Abba! 'Wen you danced with me' and 'Just a notion' make me happy and move my body all over my appartement 🕺😊 'Little things' is such a simple yet stunning Christmas Lullaby. 'I still have faith in you' such a beautiful Hommage to themselves and their fans; masterpiece as well. I could go on and on. But you summarized it perfectly in every way. Firstly, I wish YOU lots of success going forward. Well deserved as far as I am concerned as your Channel has been a kind of "serendipity" find. I appreciate your maturity and approach with your reactions. I sit very still and just listen as you give your feedback and reactions.
I was not quite sure what to expect with this Album. I was expecting a few more up-tempo songs and maybe even "similar" music to their previous kind of hits. Then I sat back and asked myself why would I expect that! And would we really want that. I don't quite think so.
And with that I listened to the album again and really enjoyed those oh-so familiar voices that we have all come to know and love. So appreciative of that. I also cleared my mind and REALLY listened to the "evolution" of ABBA with their new songs and arrangements. It came to me that it's not about the Hits but rather about the intrinsic value of their creative process and production, and it is clearly brilliant in this album. I am really very happy and grateful for this album and it is so good to add a few more ABBA songs to the already large ABBA collection that I have. Who would have ever thought that this would ever happen. Enriching indeed.

Bjorn said it's a country tune dedicated to Tammy Wynette, hence the name for the dog. In case you don't know the story, Tammy Wynette was married to George Jones, Both were country singers. She was addicted to prescription drugs, and he was an alcoholic, so they had terrible fights in their marriage, it was all over the tabloids, but they still loved each other. A very sad story, they're both gone now, Tammy was only 55.

Interesting how they threw in another tribute with one of the chorus musical melodies to Roxette and one of their leads Marie who died in 2019. The motif came from their song Listen to your heart whivh also makes some sense within the song in terms of meaning also.

When you danced with me has a great Irishness about it, and not just a passing hint of Irish sounding music. It'll be popular across Ireland and Scotland and I see it being played at many a festive ceilidh. I think so far that this is my favourite track from the album. Little Things is too twee, even for a hardened Abba fan. It's in sharp contrast to Happy New Year which is a song which really makes you think about the meaning of life and the bleakness of the future.
I quite like I can be that woman but it does feel very much like a musical theatre number. It's about alcoholism and the lack of trust that partners have towards the alcoholic. The vocals are great of course. Keep and eye on Dan has the lovely little SOS line at the end which works well and is like an Easter Egg hidden for knowing fans. Bumblebee is just lovely, with a smashing ethereal and Scottish/Irish/Scandi sound to it. No Doubt about it is a hidden gem. Very catchy hooks, great vocals (are these singers really in their 70s? They don't sound much different to their voices on The Visitors.) Ode to freedom is the last track on the last Abba album ever. In a sense it does the same thing as Like an angel passing through my room on The Visitors, but I think that LAAPTMR wins that battle easily.
Blizzard - a lovely review as usual and you make many interesting points. You're a wee pro. Incidentally, you have a nice clock which kept grabbing my eye as I watched. It looks a 1930s art deco style, oak wood.

The harmonies on "Little Things" are phenomenal! I have read comments that the women's voices had obviously lost something, however listening to the beginning of this song it could have been recorded 40 years ago. I feel that Frida and Agneth were destined to be brought together to share their emotions, experiences, and voices with the world. Their ability to project emotion through performance is unmatchable, particularly looking back at "The Winner Takes It All" and "Knowing Me Knowing You " recorded after the breakup of their marriages and publically performed. They had to have had each other as a support system. I don't think that there has ever been a duo with the talent and connection of these ladies who are the epitome of class, dignity, humility and gratitude. With the music of Bjorn and Benny, voices of Frida and Agnetha, use of creative technology, and new music after 40 years ABBA has earned an esteemed spot in music history.

    Special comment of "Voyage"
It's new to put in the right order, I"m still listening and discover new things
until now I put "Voyage" from the middle to the top
better than "The Visitors" & "Voulez Vous"
so good as "Super Trouper" & "ABBA"
only behind "The Album" & "Arrival "
    About the songs of "Voyage"
favourite song: "Don't shut me down"
    (masterpiece! 10pts)
    only a level bellow (9pts):
I still have faith in you
    Just a Notion
    another level bellow (8pts):
    When you danced with me
    Kep one eye on Dan
    No doubt about it
    Ode to Freedom
    another level bellow (7pts):
    Little things
    I can be that woman
    the last level (6pts)
    Bumblebee
    My order could be
    1- Don't shut me down
    2- Just a Notion
3- I still have faith in You
    4- Ode to Freedom
5- When you danced with me
6- Kep an eye on Dan
    7- No doubt about it
8- I can be that woman
    9- Little things
    10- Bumblebee

I **love** that you can already mouth the words to "Just a Notion" after reacting to it before! It's a great challenge to lots of misguided ABBA fans who feel the other vintage unreleased track "Just Like That" should have been on the album instead, to the point where these "fans" have decided they hate "Just A Notion". In reality, those fans can't see that it's still classic ABBA, and the fact that a young new reactor like you loves the song and has learned the words just proves it! 😀

Actually..."Just A Notion" is one of my favorite ABBA tracks ever!! From the moment I heard that clip on the "Thank You For The Music" box set ...I fell in love with it, and resigned to the fact that was it for that song; so you can imagine how ecstatic I was knowing it was going to be on this album. As far as all the "Just Like That" fans... Come on now... Benny himself said they just did not feel comfortable with the way it came out, that it wasn't coming together like they wanted it to. But that's no reason to hate this song jeez I think masterpiece that showcase is all four of their vocals!

I rate it three out of five.
They are 70+ and one have to acknowledge that. After that note to self, I find it touching and sincere. Also they do their thing, and don't give a crap.
    That's an attitude I like.
No fancy producers, they chose to do it their way all the way.
And they still pick styles from both here and there- like they always have. 💪

I totally agree. ABBA stay true to themselves. Making music they love and people love them in return. Take Madonna for an example. She´s trying hard to appeal to a younger audience. Well, she´s forgetting her older fans and the younger ones don´t care about her.

Can't wait for you to see your Voulez Vous reaction! Then for you to find the utter craft and beauty in Super Trouper, then the experimentation and darkness plus meaning in The Visitors. Have to say the S.O.S. piano motif at the end of Keep an eye on Dan is from the album before Arrival self titled "ABBA". It's an excellent track, one of the best pure pop songs you'll hear, on an excellent album.

So glad and grateful for the younger generation that is discovering ABBA!
I find almost all of ABBA`s songs/lyrics are personal. Agnetha, Björn, Benny and Annifrid are all humble, nice, honest and decent human beings; down to earth people.
They are just like anybody else, with all of their flaws, traumas, embarrassments, difficulties etc. They know that, and they do not put themselves over anybody else. In addition, they are even generous with sharing those painful experiences with us, so that we have the opportunity to feel our own pain - and heal it. They also share their joy and happiness with us; all their precious feelings. That is why their music touches all of us, young as old and everyone in between. That makes their music so GREAT, and SPECIAL. I think. What do you think?
In addition, all about ABBA is natural. They could easily have artificially “fixed” the ladies “older” voices and other things, but they refrained from doing so. Their music it is genuine right through
As far as I know, no other band is doing the same today; the temptation is too big to fix almost everything to perfection. ABBAs music is therefore REAL MUSIC. Today it is unusual, which makes them so BIG!

Both "Little Things" and "Bumblebee" could end up as animated videos. Using ABBAtars would be over the top but it would be unexpected if they did that. Great analysis your the first I've heard get "I can be that Woman" is a country song also you heard the Lord of the Rings vibe in "Bumblebee". "Keep an Eye on Dan", "I Still have Faith in You", "Don't Shut Me Down", and "Bumblebee" are my favorite songs on the album.

B! Let’s go, baby! Excited to see you, to listen to this album, and to react to this album with you! First of all, where are you? It’s a different setting. Yes, B, we enjoy you, your channel, and your content! Glad to be here, my friend. Let’s do this: 1). I Still Have Faith in You - definitely a beautiful song. What gorgeous vocals. Wow! Sounds like she could be singing this in a Broadway play. Yes, very emotional. “We need one another.” I can see the appreciation in your face as you listen to this beautiful track. I can see how it touches you. Beautiful. “Breathtaking. Wonderfully orchestrated… top class, top class.” I could not have said it better, B. In fact, I am going to put my thumb and two fingers together and send a kiss, like you like to do! You nailed that reaction, my friend.. 2). When You Danced With Me - Wow! Yes, yes. “A bit of an Irish tinge.” I know you would like this! “Nordic, Irish vibe.” That’s you, B! 3). Little Things - Christmas song? Hmmmm. Love your reaction when the children choir kicked in! Speechless! Ok, you agree with me that’s it’s a Christmas tune. Look, B, I could just listen to you read the lyrics! Beautifully done. 4). Just A Notion - You’re lip-syncing and grooving to this song! 🕺. I like it! Don’t need to apologize for anything, B. Yes, love you reading these lyrics. Wow! 5). Don’t Shut Me Down - the intro sounds like another tune that could be on Broadway. Wow, I just love her vocals. Really nice when the band kicks in. Great groove to this song. Beautiful. You could put this song right along other ABBA classics and it would fit right in. Your reading of these lyrics is knocking me down. I am loving the way you are doing this reaction. 6). I Can Be That Woman - Strong ballad here. That “screw you” lyric really popped out at me. Really nice interpretation of these lyrics, B! 👏👏. 7). Keep An Eye on Dan - Interesting music here. I’m curious to hear your reaction at the end if this tune. Your smiling and your eyes are darting! I think you like it a lot. Now you’re getting into the groove! Another lyrical deep dive! 👏👏. You know Kramer v. Kramer?! That’s an old classic! Wow, B! You did fantastic in isolating that flow in that chorus! Yes, B, and action packed musical score. That’s it, my friend. Good job! 👊👊. 8). Bumblebbe - Did you mistype that title? That spelling looks odd. I like those wind instruments. Is that a flute or a recorder? Beautiful. So this is a song about actual bumblebees? Man, B, I’m telling you, I’m loving your reading of these lyrics. Hahahaha. You just made me laugh about your story about getting stung by a bee. 😂🤣. 9). No Doubt About It - This is an upbeat tune. I find it troubling analyzing this song, too. I did not know two members of ABBA got married, had a kid, and then got divorced. Good info, B! 10). Ode to Freedom - This song sounds like it could be epic (with the violin playing). I really like these vocals, like the whole group is singing together. The song just builds. I agree with the “movie score sound” observation. I think the song ended too quickly, though. I wish it continued to grow and build. Final comments: I agree with you that ABBA fans will really like this album. I’m not a big ABBA fan, but I was impressed with this record. How long has it been since ABBA last released their last album? This is a reunion album of sorts? B, I sincerely appreciate all the time it takes for you to record and edit these videos. I’m putting my thumb and two fingers together and throwing you a kiss! 😘 Thanks so much ❤️. I’ve enjoyed spending this hour with you, B, and I’m looking forward to seeing where you go next. I’ll be seeing you in the next one. Peace out…..

Yeah I moved my chair around to a different side of the table haha (Hence the different background..) 1) I am glad to hear that you enjoyed "I Still Have Faith in You" as much as I did. It is a superb opener and an overall fantastic/gorgeous tune. All emotions just come through within this song. 2) Yeah that song was a banger and I really appreciated the Irish influence they took upon this song :) 3) Yeah I am still so happy that they chose to put a Christmas song on this album. Like this album overall is very like an "Xmas Gift" and it should become this years #1 Christmas Album haha. 5) Yeah this song is just immaculate... when I first heard this track, I fell in love with it and I still have a huge appreciation for it now. Yeah I thought I would change up this reaction and sort "deep-dive" into the songwriting to understand it a bit more and thinking back to the video now.. I am sort of glad I done that :) 7) This song is definitely in my Top 5 100%. I loved every bit of this and I really enjoyed digging into the lyrics. Kramer vs Kramer is a fantastic film and the acting/storytelling is amazing!. 8) Haha good eye.. yes I misspelled "Bumblebee". I will read into the lyrics more often so with future album reactions :). 10) Yeah I thought Ode to Freedom was an incredible finale for the album!.
Overall.. I appreciate the feedback and analysis as always my friend. I appreciate you noticing the time and effort that goes into these videos too but I enjoy doing them and I do them for ye. I am lucky to have awesome supporters! :) I will see you in the next one man..., Peace Out!

Hi bro, have loved all your previous ABBA albums reactions.
And I was enjoying every reaction you give, that is, until I arrive at your No Doubt About It reaction.
Contrary to your personal perception on it, I (and many online friends of mine) thought that this is such a sweet and down to earth take on a normal man-woman/husband-wife every day relationship. There's nothing negative about it at all, if you view the lyric from a more down to earth, practical and comedic perspectives.
In reality, the woman protagonist in the song is taking the blame for the mistakes she makes, but only after she freaked out and overreacted about it. And she's also potraying the husband in a very positive light, describing him as a matured, calm, patient husband, being so much concerned about the wife's overreaction on things in their everyday live.
It's a beautiful cute songs, if taken lightly but meaningfully, and many of us simply love it.

I p++ssed myself laughing at your comments on Bumblebee. Bees are currently going extinct and if their populations collapse completely then so will our entire food chain.
    So, quite an important topic.
Very nice, appreciative reaction to the album, though.

It's so hard to make a Top 5 out of this Album. Every song is special.

Keep An Eye On Dan is strange subject matter for an uptempo dance tune. I am reminded of the song Changes by Olivia Newton John, which is worth hearing, and she wrote it herself.

as a young person i appreciate your insightful interpretations of every track on this amazing comeback album. as a super fan i hope this isnt the final album. it would be unfair to come back after 40 years and then leave us again. if another album comes out say next year it will be their 10th studio album which is a nice round number to end on. all of them had a joyous reunion and experience doing this again so to me anyways why wouldnt you want to do it again next year? as they say never say never so am crossing fingers and toes another album is eminent.

"No doubt about it" could be a sequel to "should I laugh or cry "....
