They are saying there are things worthy of rage - injustice, inequality, misuse of power, etc. Sometimes in history we've seen nothing improved until people rose up in anger to bring about change. But it's a shame that so many people, whether online or in a rap song, use their rage to simply harrass: "messing around for no reason". Or they use their energy to spread hate:"I rage at the rage that is full of malice." When BTS raps angrily, it's to expose wrongs or give a voice to the oppressed. Most of their songs have rap lines written by the 3 rappers. I see rap in BTS songs as a way to add lots of complexity of thoughts and feelings in a short span of time. Imagine how many standard verses would be required to convey all this! And they wouldn't carry the punch you get from rap. I'm glad BTS showed me how good rap can be!
I’m a 65 yo fervent blues rock fan (Clapton, SRV, John Mayall to name a few). I saw a BTS video on RUclips in 2018 (Fake Love) and fell down the rabbit hole.. The fanbase (called Army) consists of all ages, includes rock and metal heads, classical music lovers, you name it. Whatever genre of music you like, BTS has it.

Good luck figuring out who is your bias. They are each so unique and talented in their individual way. Most ARMY are OT7 (One True Seven - loving them equally) but it is natural to be drawn to one (or two - or three) more than the others. Jin is my bias - Suga is my bias-wrecker - and RM is my bias wrecker wrecker. Eventually you become OT7. 💜💜💜💜

In terms of what BTS items to watch next I recommend more of these kind of stripped back performances- which are perfect for when you are new to BTS as you can focus on each members’ individual charms. Don’t try to remember them by hairstyles it’s better to distinguish them by their unique vocal characteristics. 2022 Proof Live - 3 songs plus a talk 2020 Tiny Desk - 3 songs in about 14 minutes
The guy whid purple hair is Jungkook he is the main vocalist and the youngest, he joined when he was 13 and 15 when he debut. Untill 2021 all members lived togerher and the see theme self as brothers. In 2023 all members did solo songs or Album Jungkook made his whole Album Golden in english. He collab whid Jack Harlow, latto, Justin Timberlake and Usher, al members Album was good and the are now serving in the military. Jin the oldest finish his service in june, J-Hope is finish in October and the other 5 members is finish next year in june, then Bts reunite again

This medley was a good place to start, to get an idea of their abilities, they also did a Tiny Desk concert in 2020 I think, during covid. They sing 3 whole songs with a small band, very nice.
I've learned over the years that as long as people who react to BTS are respectful ARMY will come out in droves to help them learn about the group. Others have suggested their Tiny Desk which was released when C19 was still in its early stages and the song choices hit a little harder. I hope you can watch it with that in mind because it showcases their amazing vocals and rap line. BTS did a cover of Coldplay's Fix You which is sensational along with I'll Be Missing You. These videos tend to get pretty severe copyright issues! The boys always sound better live and I'm hoping you can watch some of their concert clips. Mic Drop and Run BTS from their last concert as a full group in Busan is a GREAT one to start with. Enjoy your trip down the rabbit hole and if you have any questions just ask. Great comment and recs, but don’t you also find it’s good to ease new folks in with a few official mv’s with good lyric cc’s, no YT blocking issues, and a focus on their artistry & creative vision? Maybe even a smattering of solo work, THEN segue into their incredible lives? I’m a newbie who dove deep and fast due to medical issues, and that’s my take, anyway. I appreciate the lives MUCH more now that my brain knows who and what it’s experiencing. 😅

Some artists are very much meh in concert but BTS have blown my mind both times I've seen them live. Just for example Black Swan is a beautifully shot MV with deep lyrics but that opening sequence from the Permission to Dance tour? That's another level all together.

RM is a Baritone, and he has a very nice singing voice, and amazing stage presence. He's been my bias since the beginning, when I discovered them in 2020, during the pandemic. He has a Tiny Desk concert you may like, and he has also released two solo albums most recently. INDIGO (released Dec. 2, 2022), and Right Place, Wrong Person or RPWP (May 24, 2024). His discography is very diverse - INDIGO genre is not defined, including many different pop styles, R&B, Rap/Hip Hop/Rap, even folk music. RPWP genre is alternative, with R&B/Soul, Pop, UK R&B, Jazz, Hip-Hop/Rap. He really was exploring and exprimenting with his sound, and the second album I see as more of a deeper dive for RM. Like INDIGO was peeling off the top layer (his diary from ages 25 to 29), and then peeling off the deeper layers in RPWP from 2022 to 2024. He actually hadn't planned the scond album, but realized he needed to do it. He was set to enlist for his mandatory military service when J-Hope enlisted in April 2023, but postponed it until December 2023, and enlisted with the other remaining members, so he could finish the album. RM is an amazing Artist, and he's the Leader of BTS, and one of the main songwriters. Kim, Namjoon is his birthname, RM (used to stand for Rap Monster) is his stage name with BTS. BTS stands for Bulletproof Boy Scouts. According to member J-Hope, the name signifies the group's desire "to block out stereotypes, criticisms, and expectations that aim on adolescents like bullets" he shared in a 2015 interview. . In July 2017, BTS announced that their name would also stand for "Beyond the Scene" as part of their new brand identity. Welcome to the rabbit hole! 49 year old BTS ARMY here - discovered them in 2018 with "DNA" (their first American award show at the AMAs, then really got into them during the pandemic with Dynamite. I'm sure I'm repeating other recommendations, but I definitely suggest the Tiny Desk Concerts for BTS and for RM, plus the Tiny Desk Korea for V. If you're looking for videos with captions, I highly recommend Enjoy BTS More. Britta's video span their entire discography and she is committed to making sure the best versions of the lyrics are included with each video, along with an amazing description with the production team and any relevant quotes. BTS stands for BangTan Sonyeondan. Bangtan = bulletproof and sonyeondan = a group of younger same-age-group boys... so the English translation is "boy scouts" therefore... "Bulletproof Boy scouts". They've also said it can stand for "Beyond the Scene". 6 of the 7 members are currently serving their mandatory military service. Jin, the oldest, just finished his this past June. Jhope will be done this October, and the rest will be done in June 2025.

Picking a fave in BTS is like listening to an orchestra and trying to pick a fave instrument. Each member has an array of strengths that makes their contribution shine beautifully. So yes you might decide you like the violin the best and it may even make lovely music alone but the full magic happens when everyone shines as one doing what each of them does best. That's how I tend to think of it. I have an "ult (ultimate) bias" but it's mainly because I relate to his lyrics more often than not and he's the most similar to me so I relate the most to him but I adore all 7 of our guys.

Festa is a once a year celebration BTS have with us, this was them giving a small taste of parts of some songs. They have well over 200 songs as they are can't seem to stop Writing, composing and producing. They are multi talent all play at least one musical instrument and have done so on stage. Now we have RM the Main Rapper and main Song writer of the seven not only playing piano on lives but not playing Saxophone in the Military Band where he's doing his military service. So that mean we have 2 saxophone players within BTS. As V the baritone the lover of Jazz also plays saxophone and V can also play the trumpet. Suga (aka Agust D) Rapper and main Producer of the BTS plays Piano and Guitar. Jin has played guitar and piano on stage. Jungkook plays guitar and has played drums on stage.

This is my favorite video to start the BTS journey 🙂it shows their amazing vocals, their versatility, and their chaotic way hehe BTS is for Bangtan Sonyeondan that means Bulletproof Boy Scouts. They started their life as BTS to give voice to the Korean youth. Their lyrics are almost always deep and always meaningful. Some are so deep and intricate that need cultural explanations because they have a lot of wordplays. All of their albums (solo or as BTS) are conceptual because they are great storytellers! This rabbit hole is an endless story because they have a huge discography with no bad songs and keep producing more at an absurd speed rate! All their albums are non-skip. I fell into this rabbit hole during the pandemics, and now I'm a 67yo proud Army! I always say that they are perfect as solos... and the perfection itself as BTS 🙂

I love that you asked for suggestions. I want to say that with ten years of group projects plus solo work, there's a lot! And people have strong opinions, but honestly there's no one right way to get into them. Follow your curiosity, tell us what you want to learn or experience next, we'll make suggestions. 😁 You can start anywhere, it's all about what you'll enjoy most along the way. In general they're amazing live, so unless your thing is production, live performances are always a good choice. They play off the audience beautifully. They sing live while dancing. Jungkook always sounds like the studio track, that's just what he sounds like 🤣 They have an amazing come-up story and there are a ton of really memorable moments over the years - especially in their fan interactions. The relationship there is a really special one, and they've done a lot of songs meant for us. If you want to see how much they love us, live performances of Mikrokosmos and Magic Shop are great places to start. If you want to see how much we love them, there's a video from Wembley that's pretty amazing. If you're into stagecraft, their award show performances at the Asian award shows, especially in 2018 and 2019, are ridiculously cool spectacles 😁 There's a lot ahead of you. These guys are special. Sincere, hard-working musicians and performers who have a hand in writing almost all their music, and who want to give something beautiful to the world. Plus they have a variety show so we have years of them being chaotic and delightful, playing games and competing and trying to cook 😂 they fight like puppies and laugh a lot along the way. They genuinely love each other, and us, and the world.
They all have lovely and very distinct voices, so which one you like best is just about personal taste really. All four vocalists are my favorite 😂 Jungkook's voice probably grabs me the most often though. And Suga's rap delivery lights me up the most, but there are moments when the other two rappers amaze me. (Hobi in Outro:Tear, you know? Damn.) My favorite is the one I'm looking at 😂 I really enjoyed watching you appreciate these guys. Since you said you like it when they go hard then soft, check out "Born Singer," any of the live performances that are available. The rappers are telling their stories, the singers are bringing it home. It makes me tear up every time, all that sincerity carried by all the artistry. I love this video because it's a gift for ARMY, who already know and love them, so they're just goofing off with nothing to prove. And then we use it to show new people how they're versatile, and skilled, and silly. 😁

They are saying there are things worthy of rage - injustice, inequality, misuse of power, etc. Sometimes in history we've seen nothing improved until people rose up in anger to bring about change. But it's a shame that so many people, whether online or in a rap song, use their rage to simply harrass: "messing around for no reason". Or they use their energy to spread hate:"I rage at the rage that is full of malice." When BTS raps angrily, it's to expose wrongs or give a voice to the oppressed.
Most of their songs have rap lines written by the 3 rappers. I see rap in BTS songs as a way to add lots of complexity of thoughts and feelings in a short span of time. Imagine how many standard verses would be required to convey all this! And they wouldn't carry the punch you get from rap. I'm glad BTS showed me how good rap can be!

I’m a 65 yo fervent blues rock fan (Clapton, SRV, John Mayall to name a few). I saw a BTS video on RUclips in 2018 (Fake Love) and fell down the rabbit hole.. The fanbase (called Army) consists of all ages, includes rock and metal heads, classical music lovers, you name it. Whatever genre of music you like, BTS has it.

In terms of what BTS items to watch next I recommend more of these kind of stripped back performances- which are perfect for when you are new to BTS as you can focus on each members’ individual charms. Don’t try to remember them by hairstyles it’s better to distinguish them by their unique vocal characteristics.

Untill 2021 all members lived togerher and the see theme self as brothers. In 2023 all members did solo songs or Album Jungkook made his whole Album Golden in english. He collab whid Jack Harlow, latto, Justin Timberlake and Usher, al members Album was good and the are now serving in the military. I've learned over the years that as long as people who react to BTS are respectful ARMY will come out in droves to help them learn about the group. Others have suggested their Tiny Desk which was released when C19 was still in its early stages and the song choices hit a little harder. I hope you can watch it with that in mind because it showcases their amazing vocals and rap line. BTS did a cover of Coldplay's Fix You which is sensational along with I'll Be Missing You. These videos tend to get pretty severe copyright issues! The boys always sound better live and I'm hoping you can watch some of their concert clips. Mic Drop and Run BTS from their last concert as a full group in Busan is a GREAT one to start with. Enjoy your trip down the rabbit hole and if you have any questions just ask. ARMY will happily help you navigate by suggesting the best videos, interviews, etc.
Great comment and recs, but don’t you also find it’s good to ease new folks in with a few official mv’s with good lyric cc’s, no YT blocking issues, and a focus on their artistry & creative vision? Maybe even a smattering of solo work, THEN segue into their incredible lives? I’m a newbie who dove deep and fast due to medical issues, and that’s my take, anyway. I appreciate the lives MUCH more now that my brain knows who and what it’s experiencing. 😅
@@denisedellasantina1643 I like concert clips because I feel like they showcase what the group can REALLY do in terms of singing and rapping while going insane with their dancing at the same time. Some artists are very much meh in concert but BTS have blown my mind both times I've seen them live. Just for example Black Swan is a beautifully shot MV with deep lyrics but that opening sequence from the Permission to Dance tour? That's another level all together.

RM is a Baritone, and he has a very nice singing voice, and amazing stage presence. He's been my bias since the beginning, when I discovered them in 2020, during the pandemic. He has a Tiny Desk concert you may like, and he has also released two solo albums most recently. INDIGO (released Dec. 2, 2022), and Right Place, Wrong Person or RPWP (May 24, 2024).
His discography is very diverse - INDIGO genre is not defined, including many different pop styles, R&B, Rap/Hip Hop/Rap, even folk music. RPWP genre is alternative, with R&B/Soul, Pop, UK R&B, Jazz, Hip-Hop/Rap. He really was exploring and exprimenting with his sound, and the second album I see as more of a deeper dive for RM. Like INDIGO was peeling off the top layer (his diary from ages 25 to 29), and then peeling off the deeper layers in RPWP from 2022 to 2024. He actually hadn't planned the scond album, but realized he needed to do it.
He was set to enlist for his mandatory military service when J-Hope enlisted in April 2023, but postponed it until December 2023, and enlisted with the other remaining members, so he could finish the album. RM is an amazing Artist, and he's the Leader of BTS, and one of the main songwriters.
Kim, Namjoon is his birthname, RM (used to stand for Rap Monster) is his stage name with BTS. BTS stands for Bulletproof Boy Scouts. According to member J-Hope, the name signifies the group's desire "to block out stereotypes, criticisms, and expectations that aim on adolescents like bullets" he shared in a 2015 interview. . In July 2017, BTS announced that their name would also stand for "Beyond the Scene" as part of their new brand identity. This extended the meaning of their name to encompass the idea of growth "from a boy to an adult who opens the doors that are facing forward"
BTS debuted June 13, 2013, as a HIP HOP IDOL Group, under a small independent label - Big Hit Entertainment - and they write and produce most of their own music. They were given aritstic freedom from the beginning, and encouraged to incorporate their feelings and stories into their music. They are so talented and very genuine and humble guys. Welcome to the rabbit hole! 49 year old BTS ARMY here - discovered them in 2018 with "DNA" (their first American award show at the AMAs, then really got into them during the pandemic with Dynamite.
I'm sure I'm repeating other recommendations, but I definitely suggest the Tiny Desk Concerts for BTS and for RM, plus the Tiny Desk Korea for V.

BTS stands for BangTan Sonyeondan. Bangtan = bulletproof and sonyeondan = a group of younger same-age-group boys... so the English translation is "boy scouts" therefore... "Bulletproof Boy scouts". They've also said it can stand for "Beyond the Scene". 6 of the 7 members are currently serving their mandatory military service. Jin, the oldest, just finished his this past June. Jhope will be done this October, and the rest will be done in June 2025.

There are 4 members on the dance line JHope, Jimin, JK, and V. All the 7 members can sing, dance and rap though. They debuted in 2013. Before that they trained for 2-3 yrs except for Jimin who trained for 6-8 months. So glad u heard this. So fun. The songs they did are on the bottom left of the video. Ugh is a rapline song. Picking a fave in BTS is like listening to an orchestra and trying to pick a fave instrument. Each member has an array of strengths that makes their contribution shine beautifully. So yes you might decide you like the violin the best and it may even make lovely music alone but the full magic happens when everyone shines as one doing what each of them does best. That's how I tend to think of it. I have an "ult (ultimate) bias" but it's mainly because I relate to his lyrics more often than not and he's the most similar to me so I relate the most to him but I adore all 7 of our guys.

Festa is a once a year celebration BTS have with us, this was them giving a small taste of parts of some songs. They have well over 200 songs as they are can't seem to stop Writing, composing and producing. They are multi talent all play at least one musical instrument and have done so on stage. Now we have RM the Main Rapper and main Song writer of the seven not only playing piano on lives but not playing Saxophone in the Military Band where he's doing his military service. So that mean we have 2 saxophone players within BTS. As V the baritone the lover of Jazz also plays saxophone and V can also play the trumpet. Suga (aka Agust D) Rapper and main Producer of the BTS plays Piano and Guitar. Jin has played guitar and piano on stage. Jungkook plays guitar and has played drums on stage.

A.R.M.Y here from Melbourne, Australia. I think that all members are genius in there own way. My bias though is V who is the only baritone in BTS, he also has a R&B/ Jazz/Soul Vibe. They started their life as BTS to give voice to the Korean youth. Their lyrics are almost always deep and always meaningful. Some are so deep and intricate that need cultural explanations because they have a lot of wordplays. All of their albums (solo or as BTS) are conceptual because they are great storytellers!
This rabbit hole is an endless story because they have a huge discography with no bad songs and keep producing more at an absurd speed rate! All their albums are non-skip.
I fell into this rabbit hole during the pandemics, and now I'm a 67yo proud Army!
I always say that they are perfect as solos... and the perfection itself as BTS 🙂

I love that you asked for suggestions. I want to say that with ten years of group projects plus solo work, there's a lot! And people have strong opinions, but honestly there's no one right way to get into them. Follow your curiosity, tell us what you want to learn or experience next, we'll make suggestions. 😁 You can start anywhere, it's all about what you'll enjoy most along the way.
In general they're amazing live, so unless your thing is production, live performances are always a good choice. They play off the audience beautifully. They sing live while dancing. Jungkook always sounds like the studio track, that's just what he sounds like 🤣
They have an amazing come-up story and there are a ton of really memorable moments over the years - especially in their fan interactions. The relationship there is a really special one, and they've done a lot of songs meant for us. If you want to see how much they love us, live performances of Mikrokosmos and Magic Shop are great places to start.
If you want to see how much we love them, there's a video from Wembley that's pretty amazing.
If you're into stagecraft, their award show performances at the Asian award shows, especially in 2018 and 2019, are ridiculously cool spectacles 😁
There's a lot ahead of you. These guys are special. Sincere, hard-working musicians and performers who have a hand in writing almost all their music, and who want to give something beautiful to the world.

They all have lovely and very distinct voices, so which one you like best is just about personal taste really. All four vocalists are my favorite 😂 Jungkook's voice probably grabs me the most often though. And Suga's rap delivery lights me up the most, but there are moments when the other two rappers amaze me. (Hobi in Outro:Tear, you know? Damn.)
