When you realize that she wrote this song after discovering her boyfried of three years had been cheating on her, (I know???!), then the hats and the detective gear make sense. Think Carmen Sandeigo. And, this song was written by Lindsey after her breakup with her cheating boyfriend but with an eye toward how she'd feel by the time the album was released months later. So, a nod to Gloria Gaynor's "I will survive" and the '80's aesthetic. Lindsey's songs/videos are always packed with nuance. Come for the beauty, the glamour, the dance, the talent, the song and the visuals and she'll throw in a lesson. She's a seriously thinky chick.
If you don't know about Lindsey, I hope you do a lot more of her songs. She's an amazing violinist who dances while playing. She plays violin with a lot of dubstep and techno music. She's also known for her very imaginative videos as she loves cosplay and incorporates it into her videos. I hope to see you going down the Lindsey Stirling Rabbit Hole. I'd suggest starting with her instrumental "Crystallize" (either her original video at the Ice Castle or the one she plays hanging by only her hair) or her song "Shatter Me ft. Lzzy Hale" regarding her "shattering" the control an eating disorder had on her at one point. Have fun.
