Aku is more than just evil. He's primordial. He precedes even the Gods that sought to *ERADICATE* him.
I just love how ominous and foreboding it sounds. There's no grandiose instrumentals no lyrics. Nothing. Just constant reverberating dread. It fits his origin. Primordial, unconscious evil. Constantly seeking destruction but for no purpose other than that what it exists to do. Jacks father did the universe a favor giving life to the persona Aku. Conscious evil is not wholly evil. It is the fact that Aku once amassing a conscious quelled his primordial evil hive mind. Ambitions, goals. Sentience. He would seek worldly desires and total control rather than be a mindless wave of destruction across the universe.
Destruction of a million worlds is mercy in comparison to endless controlled and extended suffering of billions for eons. And Aku had a conscious before: "I am free to smite the world again as i did in days long past" or someway goes the line.
I wonder if anything like this actually exists irl in the cosmos.
@@lexmortis5722 That's a line he says after his second coming, when he breaks free from the seal placed by Jack's father.
He was refering to the times when he was wrecking havoc after Jack's father freed his conscience. Before, even if it existed, it had no control. Aku was just an everlasting plague of death and destruction, no true will or personality of his own. _(which surprisingly, might've made him more dangerous)_

@@lexmortis5722 That line is referencing to the two part origin story in Season 3 that the poster wrote about. Aku is directly talking about the Prince's Father defeating him 8 or so years prior.

When the Emperor creates Aku, Aku explains to the Emperor that he is thankful that he freed him from his primordial body.
Aku is just a manifestation of the true evil. It knows what it is doing by saying it was "freedom".
This scene along with the music captures the truly evil side of Aku that the final season was missing.

Aku is such a fascinating character. He's the literal embodiment of darkness and evil and such, but you only get that for the first episode. Once Aku is shown in the future, he's so much looser and funny. He won MANY years ago and is just enjoying life as a dictator.
So true, because for Aku, the grand battle between good and evil had already happened. And he won.
It's one thing I think they missed in the final season. He was too goofy. And sure Aku being funny and goofy is one of the greatest parts of the show, but in the original seasons he still had plenty of moments of being the remorseless Delivered of Darkness, the almighty Shogun of Sorrow.

Aku talking to himself is deeply unsettling in a dreadful way. I like the idea of Aku beginning the series as on top of the world, believing that he's just going to be done with Jack and move onto more diabolical joy, but slowly going insane as his millenia old inflated ego gets shot full of holes. If they had channeled more of that unease, I feel like Aku would have worked a lot better. He's the shapeshifting master of darkness, so one of the few ways he can one up himself is to go insane to the point where his motivations and faculties become distorted, making him unpredictable on top of absolutely evil, perhaps even incomprehensible to remove him even further from humanity. Then scant humor would be better appreciated. It would help add levity to scenes where insanity and desperation compound with his evil nature to create an even more intense dread than he was known for, and create a pleasing contrast. He _is_ a shapeshifter, so he's already very alien. Tapping into that would have been the better choice.
@@shoopoop21 I think it would have been well illustrated if he were to to snap, being ready to pretty much topple his own evil empire to get rid of Jack. The season makes it seem like the only thing on his mind is killing Jack, yet he does little in the way of achieving that aside from sending out more assassins, who he knows will all fail.
I would think at this point he'd want to get rid of Jack so bad he would, for example, tell him he will simply commit mass murder until the samurai turns himself in. He rules the world, and Jack can't be everywhere at once. He'll break eventually...
Just imagine to wake up early in the morning, moving the curtains of your bedroom window aside just to see THIS...

I wouldn't have minded a bitter ending like this to be honest, the ending we got seems slightly cheap to me, the ending was earned but the payoff was lacklustre because of how different season 5 was, if it kept up the momentum of the original seasons the payoff would have been better.
Maybe Aku panics and quickly used a time portal without thinking and actually sent Jack back to the past, before he realises what he's done he's already dead.
But that's if you want to keep the happy ending, Samurai Jack was a pretty creepy series and I think it actually would have benefited from a bad ending instead, an ending where Aku wins, and now that Jack is dead he finds no use for anything anymore, he goes mad and starts destroying everything with ease, even killing his loyalists, wiping out the kingdoms he built.
Aku is a demon, a being of death and destruction, with his rival gone, Aku loses his passion and emotional attachment to life, despite what he said Aku liked having a rival, with him gone he lost everything, and finally did what he planned to do from the beginning, wipe out all life on Earth, even if he knew that eventually that would include himself.
All that's left now is a dark tower standing in a scorched field, the demon Aku.

Can you imagine if you're an alien exploring worlds with your crew, Star Trek style, then you end up finding this planet which has... no life, no nature, no climate, no atmosphere, nothing... *except an ominous and misterious tower in the middle of the desert...*
How dreadful would it be for these explorers to try to investigate, slowly guess and/or uncover what transpired in that world *and then Aku awakens...*
Man, I wish they would make a movie showcasing a possible alternate ending where things go more or less as you described. The very end of it all would've been so chilling!

This theme is honestly one of the reasons I love the character so much. It really made him seem like something inhuman and primordially evil.

I’m glad samurai Jack got an ending after waiting 13 years for a conclusion in 2017 they released the trailer for season 5 and my jaw dropped cos I loved samurai Jack as a kid one of my favourite cartoons ever and aku was such a great villain too you could take him very seriously and not in some instances and that is hard to pull off at the SAME time.
What you hear when you're walking out in the middle of night and your phone's playlist dies.
As someone already mentioned here or on another video, with the embodyment of the evil into the being of aku itself it went from feral and swarmlike to individual, singleminded and ultimately defeatable. The poisonarrow from jacks father did the trick in the long run for ultimately saving the world in the end
Aku the master of masters stands upon the last world and the final sun, the universe empty and ageing is finally coming to an end. Aku the deliverer of darkness had conquered all the that was and destroyed any who stood before him. Aku the shogen of sorrows considers moving to next universe but doesn't as it would be an endless monotony of destroy and conquer for all eternity.
He remembers the samurai, there battles through worlds and time and his eventual defeat at his hands. He remembers casting the samurais blade through the void never to be found by any who would use it against him. There were none...none like that samurai, it was so easy, all fell before Aku the Lord of evil. He wonders if he can find the samurais sword however to do the very first and last honerable thing he can do.
And in the distance he sees a faint glimmer of steal
That ending implies kill himself right? when all that is left is aku, he begins to seek the end?
I feel like he WOULD move to another universe, i mean...
His purpose IS to cause evil. To create and distribute evil. If a universe has been destroyed by his influence, then he might as well bring his evil somewhere else.
Who knows, many beings across the multiverse ARE skilled enough to surpass Jack. Perhaps he will meet another match eventually?

The episodes where Aku and Jack faced off one-on-one were the best in the series. Aku stealing Jack’s sword was fucking phenomenal
God, even the time between the pitch is so otherworldly, as if Aku isn't even from this plane of existence yet he came here specifically to fuck shit up.
Fun fact: if you have an ambient noise that is very subtle it feels relaxing, if it is loud then it becomes stressful, especially if you are trying to hear vital information through that noise.
