Who is hitting thumbs down? I can't understand it..... The amount of emotion and energy in this dudes music, on top of the bars and metaphors make it near impossible to give a thumbs down.....
I was at the Rock the Bells show in San Francisco last summer where they filmed a portion of this. Pharoahe Monch was the loudest thing I have ever heard live and I loved every moment of it.
Been a Monch fan since Internal Affairs, one of my favorite records. This track might just top everything on it though. This is the evolution of form. This is what we need in hip-hop.
why has no one heard of this guy cuz he absolutely deserves alot more than he gets cuz hes got some kick ass lyrics and flow which is more than any rapper today has
Sick track by a sick rapper. The beat really hits you down deep. Monch is better than 90% of the rapper you see on TV. Listen to real hip hop - LISTEN TO PHAROAHE MONCH!
the REAL ''BEST RAPPER ALIVE'' RITE HERE dont leave hip hop hangin king, we wainting for dat next album dogg and looking fowerd to it to. much love dogg much respect.BRING IT BACK
YES! I've been waitin for this video ever since I was standing in the crowds of the SF Rock The Bells show and he told the audience he was waiting to shoot the video for "Desire" until he got to SF...but it never showed up...until now :)
Pharoahe, Elzhi, Phonte and Black Thought...HOOK UP HOOK UP HOOK UP!!! this is just too much, leaving no chance for other so called hiphop mc's..I LIKE!
I feel you. Underground rap is where it's at now. The rap out nowadays all sounds the same. Underground rappers don't gotta answer to anybody and they do their own thing. Mainstream rappers gotta follow guidelines and shit and make music strictly to sell records and get played in the club.
"im the poetical pastor/ slaves to the label, but i own my masters"
that has to be one of the sickest lines i've ever heard
the beginning of his second verse was better
His second verse even better though.
New York City Respect his Game like Joe Namath
Pharoahe deserves more recognition.

Who is hitting thumbs down? I can't understand it..... The amount of emotion and energy in this dudes music, on top of the bars and metaphors make it near impossible to give a thumbs down.....
That second verse is probably the best verse I've ever heard. It still gives me chills.
"Respect - even if you were ashes- you couldn't urn"
urn sounds like earn and respect is earned
This song still slaps. That lyricism is something serious🔥🔥🔥
"vocals alone evoke the emotion of black choirs"
- P. Monch
Rupert Common .....Straight brilliance with that bar !
Dre...that's why I had to quote it!
Slave to a label but I own my masters.
Still get it poppin without artist and repertoire
Cause Monch is a monarch only minues the A&R.
BARS
"My mic's a gavel, when I talk, courts adjourn
Respect, even if you was ashes you couldn't urn/earn"
MAN LOVE THIS BEAT
Pharoahe Monch is def a poetical pastor!

This man is so lyrically and rhythmically ahead of everyone else. Sick flow, intelligent lyrics, complex delivery. This is real hip hop.
This song lifts my spirits EVERY TIME I HEAR IT. One of the rare truly spiritual hip hop songs of recent vintage.
One of the FEW remaining TRUE HIP HOP artists left

You know he's real when rapping - he's definitely got that desire, it's palpable.

Pharoah Monch one of my fav rappers.
Monche is a Freakin LEGEND, Many of todays HipHop listeners don't know who this Kat is, He's one of the most slept on MCs in the game,
I was at the concert he was filming at! Rock The Bells 07 San Francisco. Best concert I have ever been to in my life. Pharoahe rocked it!
I agree with this beyond words. Hip Hop is a lost art and PM keeps the treasure close to his chest
