Here in 2023! This song still hits! Just want to let everyone know that all of our trials and tribulations are for our good and growth. I’m Still standing I’m still here!
This should be the worldwide Asthma Anthem, i relate to everything Pharaohe says on this song. Having suffered as an asthma kid through out my childhood till almost 15. This song is powerfull when i remember all i went though , trips to the hospital at midnight on mommas back (from a 3rd world where healthcare is a challenge), hospitalised for days. Now am standing a grownup adult and Asthma is behind me. Still when i hear this song, it makes me appreciate my moms everyday.
One of my favorite songs, by one of my favorite artists and today, it literally made me burst into tears. Here's to all of you reading this. To Mr. Troy Donald Jamerson and everyone involved in this masterpiece. For everyone in the struggle, 2020, the movements across the globe. I love you and keep STANDING
I relate to this song so much, and it makes me burst into appreciative tears every time. For me, it's chest pains instead of asthma, and still standing after me and brother losing our parents when I was 8 and him 6 , and im so proud to say we are still standing real proud 🤠😎💯👊🏾
When I saw him live for the first time, he had an asthma attack on stage. He got Boogie Blind to entertain us for 5 minutes then came back out and destroyed the mic for another half hour. Still one of the best shows I've ever been to
"But I gotta keep a few punch lines just in case 'cause even you unsigned rappers are hungry, looking at me like it's lunchtime, I know there was a time when once I was king of the underground, but I still rap like I'm on my Pharoahe Monch grind" - eminem I bet youre proud monch.
An absolute masterpiece even in 2023. The production is top-notch, the rap lyrics are sharp and on point, and the hook ties it all together. Then Jill bodies it at the end. Incredibly well-put-together track. No cursing, no gangsters, no twerking or thot behavior. Timeless!!!
And because it deals with real things and not a comic book version of reality that's why people like this will never be huge. Except to those who know where to look and hear things worth hearing and not foolishness meant to tease and please superficially. There's a whole history of music crammed in here.
Pharoahe Monk is 1 of the LAST OF A SMALL HANDFUL OF ARTISTS THAT DOESN'T TAKE HIS GIFT FOR GRANTED.....STILL STANDING FROM ORGANIZED KONFUSION DAYS TILL NOW.........KEEP MAKING THE MUSIC THAT CHALLENGE THE MIND TO THINK BROTHER........

These type of jams has true meanings when it comes to real life. So glad that this tune came out. You won't find it on those other nonsense that is mainstream garbage.
great song. It is so sad that 106 and park won't play these types of videos. Instead they play young money videos all day. The song has a very powerful message. Conscious hip hop is the best form of hip hop. Conscious hip hop can help the world. This song needs to be on tv.
Pharoahe gave a ton of great info on emceeing in the books he took part in making, called *HOW TO RAP* + *HOW TO RAP 2*. One of the things he said in them was this- "With certain songs, it’s better if you punch in, depending on how you write the record. It could be a song where you literally scream the first line and then cry the second line and whisper the third line, and so on and so forth, and just to get the proper inflection on those pieces, you might want to retake some things - just like a film, like, “Cut! I graduated college 2 months ago and had too many people wishing me to fail throughout my studies. This song reminded me that nothing stands in my way as long as I "still standing." Pharoahe Monch, you are the reason many people don't give in to corruption. If that wasn't the case, I would've have been standing today. You truly are an inspiration. Thank you.
You know why this is Hip Hop and you can feel the emotion in this song? its because they use real instruments and no auto tuning and when you use real instruments who ever is playing it can bring out so much powerful emotion than any electronic equipment can and thats why I love Hip Hop man...this guy is still standing for Hip Hop alone and I respect him for that.....Go get the album "W.A.R"

Asthma is the worst for people that have to use their voice on a mic. I had a bad attack one day in the studio but still finish the track. I stopped recording for a minute just to get more control of my breathing. This song brings chills
Pharoahe Monch's rhyme scheme are unparalleled and his word plays intertwined with that deep rooted CONSCIOUSNESS is what separates him from the commercial sale outs that kids coin their heroes... our heroes are Pharoahe Monch, Jill Scott, Nas, Erykah Badu, Killah Priest, Indie Arie, Black Dove, Aretha Franklin, Talib Kweli, Diana Ross, K-Rino, Lauryn Hill, Cormega, Anita Baker, AZ, Gladys Knight, Mos Def, and so forth.
SIIIIICK! One of my favourite memories is driving back from a house-party celebrating the birth of a friend's son. The sun was just coming up as we drove through the city listening to this album. It was the first time my friend heard this song and when she heard Jill's part she had tears in her eyes. This is what music can do.
OMG...thank you!!!!!!!!!. This video and words of widsom gives me strength to keep going when I'm about to fall. It picks me up everytime. "I'm Still Standing". Pharoache, awesome!!! Jill>>>speechless as usual, you are awesome too. Wiping away my tears...thank you.

The song is about a battle against asthma If y’all didn’t know, it almost didn’t get finished. Monch suffered an asthma attack and had to be hospitalized after recording Hill’s vocals. however he could get back up and return to the studio to add the finishing touch
This song is powerful. It has soo much movement, dang. Needs to be a National Anthem.
I swear Jill Scott is the most beautiful woman I have ever laid eyes 👀 on she just glows always

Babygirl I feel you, that beat is so Dope! Jill's vocals are special
...and honey is beautiful, my goodness!!!
Pharaoh gets his praise... A lot of rappers name him as their favorite, but really all in all they’re inspired by Kool G Rap.
Lyrically scary.. honestly pharoahe is an absolute monster the way he bends words and his technical ability
"I got transcontinental indigenous divas
that speak multiple languages for unspeakable reasons" - goosebumps...if you know you know.
Yes...
