Samwell Tarly is the Neville Longbottom of Game of Thrones
dont ever compare got to harry potter u thick moron, that is like comparing old star wars to new star wars
Its actually Robin
@@hazelramos9320 In terms of the glow-up, yes, but Areej was probably just referring to the original character 😉
@@raphaelfoer5364 As in the GoT books are much better than the Potter series?
@@hassmanSMO pfff hahahahahaha yes game of thrones is so much better than those gay wizards, not homophobic just stating facts that the writer has stated on Twitter ;)
It is better to be a coward for a minute than dead for the rest of your life.
Perfectly sums up Sam.
Yeah, and Theon knew that too when he faced Euron after he captured Yara.
“Dead for the rest of your life”
He is completely almost completely incompetent in battle and gets multiple people dead though
Sam is clearly not a fan of Julius Caesar
What are you talking about? Sam’s beta male cowardice at the beginning of the series wasn’t anything productive or necessary. It was just cowardice. It’s Gilly and the baby that give him that confidence and something worth fighting for. Not being abused at Castle black for entertainment.
Disappointed how no one has acknowledged that bit where Bronn just laughs at Dickon's name. That's just gold childish comedy from Bronn
If castration were a punishment under Danaerys he would have been called Dickoff Tarly
Dickon's expression is 24/7 "shocked pikachu"
😮
that might just be the actor’s default expression because luther hargreeves is also like that 99% of the time 😭
Randyll is basically that one uncle you meet at family gatherings who everyone hates.
He doesn't seem like the kind of uncle that would do disturbing things to little ones.
I'm not disagreeing with you, though. He's that hatable dislikable uncle.
He's just an unpleasant dickhead, but I don't think of him as a m*lester. He might commit other crimes and illegal actions but not carnal offenders.
Well, it'll be awkward when Sam finally returns to Jon and Dany with the solution to the White Walker threat.
Danaerys: You and your family will be well rewarded. What is your name?
Sam: Samuell Tarly.
Danaerys: O_0
😂😂😂
Honestly this aged pretty well
“The Tarly colors of green and red... are generally colors that we think clash.”
They don’t clash, they just become Christmas!
BWAHAHAHA! This is AwESOmE!
And they're actually complementary colors!
Yes, they also contradict to European heraldry. Which allows metal on colour but not colour on colour (eg. vert on gules)
Christmas IS contradictory: it's both a celebration of prayer and consumerism
@@ivanttosuckyourblood green, the color of peace...and red, the color of anger and lust.
HOUSE TARLY
"First in Battle."
Samwell Tarly is the first one in battle to kill a wight.
Samwell Tarly is the first one (in a thousand years) to know how to kill a wight in battle.
Samwell Tarly is one of the first (battle front) to go back to Winterfell for the upcoming battle (to assist Jon).
House Tarly words: Insult the Dragon Queen infront of her dragons
Fools! Hot Pie is the true heir to the throne... Long may he bake.
Ed Monte you don’t... burn your fingers 😂
He's going to settle down with Ayra Stark
Long may we all bake brother 🐸
What is hot may never pie
😂😂
I'd say that Samwell staying "soft and fat" means that he has an imbalance in his body chemistry because the food at Castle Black wasn't enough to keep the weight on with the cold temperatures over the time he was there.
Well in a world like Ice and fire you can’t be like that people born with disabilities or something like that wrong with them usually end up dead or at a severe disadvantage unless of course you have plot armor or the Lannister last name lmao sad but true same with our own medieval history
Samwell has one of the best lines in the show.
“But that’s all right, isn’t it? We can all become slathering murderous imbeciles enthralled to evil incarnate as long as we can have access to the full records of High Septon Maynard’s 15,782 *shits* !"
A girl has many videos. Never clicked so fast.
It is known.
I don't believe House Tarly is supposed to be opportunistic. Because the only moment of this trait is an series-exclusive moment. Historically speaking, the Tarlys were loyal to the end to all their allegiances. And even in season 7, Jaime appeals to his sense of duty and loyalty to the realm to convince him that Daenerys wasn't the right queen.
So even if the show portrayed Randyll and an opportunistic person, I don't think the tradition of House Tarly is of opportunistic people, like, for instance, the Tyrells were.
Sam took the opportunity to kill a WW, steal a sword that can kill WWs and the opportunity to read up on WWs at the citadel
Tobboggan, you're still talking about the series
And he didn't take the opportunity to kill a WW he just happened to be there, for a while he didn't even accepted to be recognized as a WW's killer
Well, as previously stablished. They not supporting Olenna to the end was a seres-exclusive trait, that was vastly criticized in the fandom for being the opposite of what the Tarlys would do in this situation, because they were Tarlys and Tarlys don't do shit like this. So, using this sole example to imagine the main traits of the family is wrong. Because it's Lord Randyl betraying the values of the family and not reinforcing them.
william41017 “he just happened to be there” isn’t that pretty much the definition of opportunity?…
Marc Shimpar it is Lady Olenna's fault for going half-cocked and not consulting the lords of the Reach especially Randyll, who was a childhood friend.
She also kept Mace Tyrell down, a man who was the actual lord.
Sam also uses his power and opportunism *very* well at the Wall (becomes the de facto Maester, and Jon wouldn't be Lord Commander if it wasn't for his political skill). Funnily enough, in the Tarly way that power is as the second in command. He uses and prospers from power, but at the right hand side.
The best part in this video is Bronn laughing at Dickon's name.
Personally, I too found his name really funny and burst out laughin😂😂
Samwell Tarley as Jon Snow's Hand of the King.
King Naga best theory ever
Sadly... No😢
@@frederiktoftpetersen3834 would be nice though, Samwell Tarly, lord of Horn Hill, a man fit for ruling, handling incomes and such, and he could've worked from the rear lines for handling troops and such, and could have increased the crown's incomes a good amount, like Littlefinger, minus taking huge loans from the Iron Bank of Braavos, and Hand of the King, might happen in the books if Jon gets ressurected and they defeat Aegon VI, or Aegon I Blackfyre, and the others, and Dany doesn't burn them with Drogon, Rhaegal, and Viserion, assuming she gets back to Meereen, hoping it hasn't fallen and gets her dragons under control and actually moves towards Westeros, which might happen by the end of the Winds of Winter
Great video. Also, hilarious that you put the part where bronn was laughing his ass off when dickon introduces himself
Samwell “the white slayer” Tarly will single handily destroy all the White Walkers and slay the white Dragon. Then he will sit on the Iron Throne with Gilly at his side.
Watch it happen
Ben Wyatt that’s the best ending to GoT. The underdog no one expected to be on the Iron Throne. I’d accept it
And the iron throne snaps and breaks just as Sam sits on it. Lol
I would really like to see samwell lead an army of tarly and reach troops it would be cool and funny I think he would be a good tactician since he reads so much
@@reksub10 If it could survive Robert Baratheon, I think it could easily support Sam

Please make a video on MARGAERY, and her incredible manipulation skills and tactics and how to employ them in real life, thanks
You should check out Charisma on Command. He did a video on that very thing.

Charisma already did
Y'all never fail......every video is detailed with good info!!!
Great research on the symbolism of each house in game of thrones. May I ask if you can do a video on House Clegane? I'm interested on how that house doctrine influenced the Mountain and the Hound.
The Cleganes are one of the youngest families in the series. They don't have a motto, but they are both loyal and deadly to a tee.
The Cleganes are not an ancient house, Gregor and Sandor's father was given a lordship by Tywin's father for saving his life using the hunting dogs.
House Clegane arguably has no ethics or morals -Gregor killed his father and sister and Sandor doesnt care about anything.
It was actually their grandfather who got the knighthood.
Out of the families, House Clegane is my favourite, for the reason behind their coat of arms. That, and Davos.
True that their house is new, no motto & and there's not much go on from the show or books .But you can read a lot from each of the two individuals, The Mountain (Ser Gregor) & The Hound (Sandor), especially from their past, their personalities, experiences, actions, and their beliefs. Which I think should be just about enough to make a video on their house. Lets examine of what we've learned so far from these two warriors ways of thinking.
Their belief is system basically the same from Nietzsche philosophy, might makes right, their not a very cleaver bunch, so they didn't receive much of an education, other than how to decapitate someone with efficiency.Figuring size, muscle and weight is the only way to truly survive in a harsh environment.
Their obedient but their loyalties are kind a conflicting, at best.Their only loyal to the highest bidder (The Lannisters) but that's because they think they have huge amount of wealth, so in truth their true goal in life is wealth and dominance, which kind a makes their loyalties flexible and questionable;if that or their so loyal, so obedient, to what ever house that they sworn to, that blind loyalty will lead them to a state of ignorance, which equals in turn fall into evil tendencies.
I'm not gonna comment on Sandor much since he is no longer part of house Clegane, because his brother took it over under some very shady circumstances, killing his father and sister which is unknown on how they met their demise, but we know better. Which is the reason why he left and also that the Gregor is in full control of his own house, so basically its being run from Ser Gregor mindset, beliefs, and philosophies, if he has any?
Seems Gregor Clegane looks at everyone just as slabs of meat, ready for the butcher to slaughter them, and for that he looks down on them because of their small stature and inferiority. Even to his own soldiers, as he see's them as "pet rats" stating from the books, sure he won't bring them court if they commit a crime, but that's just because he don't care; but he'll kill one of his own just because his comrade was snoring was too loud .Gregor (the mountain) has and unusual lust of bringing pain and suffering to others, all that blood, carnage, & inhuman might he has; made him into warmonger, a sadist, and a biastophilia / hybristophilia.
Their version of art of war is pure brutality, terror and unnatural violence, even the hound admits this from his quote (killing is the sweetest thing there is).Letting go all morals and embracing their inner beast (or in psychology terms it, The Shadow, look it up).Not much concern on ethics, morals, or codes of honor for that matter, figuring to be childish way of thinking, empathic way of thinking is dead weight in times of war, & believing its hypocritical system created to control the masses.
I get the three dogs thing, because Gregor and Sandor's grandfather three dogs saved Tytos Lannister, (Tywins father) from a lioness attack, but House Clegane acts like Cerberus, the hound from hades than a proper dog, only it looks like Cerberus on each head were given each of their own bodies instead of one. That's how I look at their sigil anyway.
The house is too young to have an accurate motto and its members got to their positions due to their size strength and blind loyalty
7:40 he also is striving for recognition of any kind due to his father being so hard on him allways belittling anything and everything that he does.
Yes !! I love these Game of Thrones videos and I can’t believe you guys did it on theTarlys, I love my Sam and to see the breakdown of his house is amazing! great job as always ! I can’t wait to the next video! 💯🙌🏽
"Tarly,I forbid you to die"
-Jeor fucking Mormont
Huge fan of your series. Thank you for the time and work you place into each video.
do the wildlings or the Dothraki next plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzź
Ok... so basically the wildlings are vikings and the dothraki are mongolians... simple really
@@Alejandro_87 Wildlings never sail tho
I really wish Randyll was still alive to see the rising of Sam.
Thanks Debra and Susannah for this amazing analysis of house Tarly. This is the best Channel ever!! ❤❤❤
Islaine de Oliveira - Mergulhe no Saber Randyll pretty much disowned Sam when he forced him to go North to the Watch. He couldn't care less if Sam became an arch maester
SantomPh 》 It is not about what he became so far, but about what he will be. I hope they have great plans for his future.
The thing is short of gaining some of the traits or knowledge that are required of a marching lord there is nothing that would make him worthy or prepared to fill the shoes of his ancestors
red and green are complimentary colors they go together. The Art teacher
I missed so much your Game of Thrones Famillies videos. Thank you so much girls!
This was a fantastic analysis of house Tarly! THANK YOU!!
Also a little disappointed that you seemed to ignore the other important Tarly’s right there in the series, Randyll’s wife and daughter. Melesa and Talla.
I like them
Your GoT content is 2nd to none. Great job on these house symbolism vids.
Sam has become one of the badass character in GoT. He developed so much and even killed White Walker, the first one in centuries. And his determination to help his Night's Watch Brothers and Jon to save humanity from the threat is amazing.
Bronn laughing at Dickon killed me😂😂😂😂
House Tully next time? :)
My heart breaks for Sam. I know he didn't like his father, but he seemed to love his brother. I dread the day when he finds out about their deaths. His heart will break.
This has become one of my favorite channels on RUclips!
Great job on the video!
When I first watched Game of Thrones I had given up by season 3 because i was way too confused with all the different characters and storylines. But because of your symbolism series I rewatched the whole thing and I'm so glad I did! Thank you so much!
Why did this make me tear up
Your voice is very soothing.
I wish Randall would have met all the strong characters that know Sam and who owe there life to him, I would've loved to see the look on his smug face when they tell him how brave he is.
I really appreciate these analyses on the less well known houses (from perspective of most casual viewers that is). Thank you!
My favorite author Togashi Yoshihiro once said "There's a big difference between participation and empathy." And I think The difference between Sam and his dad is embodied in that quote
Can’t get enough of these vids.....great work seriously!!!
I've kind of fallen off watching Game of Thrones, but I still love these analyses by you guys. I like seeing the thematic significance to a family's history. Thanks for keeping up with them!
I was not expecting this today thank you
I didn't think there would be a video on the Tarly's but I'm glad there is. I love how in depth you go with these, and I hope they keep coming!
Game of Thrones Symbolism videos by this channel ARE THE BEST!
Some of the best characters I've seen have been named Sam. Samwell Tarley, Samwise Gamgee, Yosemite Sam, and Samuel Oak.
Thank you again. You have some of the best GOT videos.
The colours dont clash they are complimentary: red and green, orange and blue, yellow and purple, blue green and red orange, blue violet and yellow orange. These colours will always be pleasing together and used in marketing. Opposite one another on the colour wheel yes, but never clashing.
And in medieval times a bow was never considered noble, it was the weapon of peasants. A sword would be noble.
They clash colors on the perspective that they are warm (red) and cool (green) colors. But you're right about the bow not being a peasant weapon. Tarleys signet as archers should signify that they are in essence skilled soldiers or against other houses, ambitious because the archer can hunt animals like stags, wolves or bears.
@@ythandlename he said the bow WAS a peasant weapon. but fortunately, this story doesnt take place in "medieval" times.
I don't even watch GOT but MAN I love this series
Shuru10 how the fuck does that even make sense, how are you interested in the video if you’re not invested in the characters lmao
Love your videos. You are one of my FAVE channels! 🏆
you guys are be back with the got vids!
Fantastic thorough work and so well presented, thank you!
Man fate is a funny thing ain't it? Sam's the "weak" son "unfit for the Tarly name" but by the end of Season 7 he's:
- Killed a white walker
- Started a family ( and keeping them safe, something no one else in the show has done - Ahem... Robb)
- In rightful possession of one of the few Valyrian steel swords
- One of 3 people who are aware of Jon's parentage and inheritance (i.e. arguably the most important piece of info to be had).
Where are his clowning father and brother? Dead.
Have I left anything out?
yaaaasssssssss tarlys! I love your house symbolism series!
The reveal compelled me to support you on Patreon.
Thanks, I’m enjoying these video highlighting the different families and houses in GoT.
Samwell has a sister, and a mother, so technically Sam can't further the family line if he took the black, but I westeros Sam's sister can, total progressive society George imagined up there. Your videos are awesome keep making them
Eric Garrison Well, actually he CAN. Jon snow let him go. If memory serves me right, he vowed to protect the wall. THERE IS NO MORE WALL! The wall is gone. The battle is won. There is no more fighting. And Samwell has the birthright to his name.
Jon gets to decide, so basically Sam can do whatever he wants
@@horsegirlb7120 yes. that's because Jon is the current ruling Lord Commander of the Nights Watch.
These videos are absolutely incredible and so thoughtful
This is one of my favorite houses
This video repeats itself and is about 50% longer than it needed to be
Loved it
These videos take alot of time and effort im sure, I have missed your Game of Thrones stuff. Thanks for this!
Love these videos!
I love your videos!! You put so much thought into your analysis!
Love watching these videos while waiting for the release of season 8
Finnaly been waiting forever for this thank y'all.
Yessss!!!! I love GoT and I love your videos on them!
Beautiful!!
Calling it now: Jon or Dany win the War for the Dawn and they release Samwell of his Nights Watch Oath and name him Warden of the South.
Then Sam marries Gilly...
The Tarleys is one of my favorite families and you guys do a great job with these Game of Thrones symbolism video
Caden Leonard sam is the only one I like.
Actually In colour theory green and red are complimentary colours because they are on the opposite ends of the colour wheel
Samwell took a vow as a Maester so he can't further the family line.
Great video!! Very interesting, especially with the family's contradictions. I was wondering if you guys will do a Tully video or if you already have, I couldn't find it.
I just love these videos.
I love these videos, they are in depth yet to the point!!! Keep up the great work! :)
love your game of thrones content
Superb video! Pleasing in every way.
People seem to forget and don’t know Sam’s mom is from house Florent so that Where his love for Books comes from most likely
People should Research house florent and will see that Sam is more florent then Tarly
House Arryn and House Frey - a lot of good symbolism there. Excellent video.
Omfg!!! I knew it! I knew the guy who played number 1 in Umbrella Academy had acted in another show I'd seen. hahaha he was Dickon Tarly 😂
I really like this breakdown.
I liked how they emphasized red and green colours to explain Tarly divided loyalty and conflicted traits of quiet ambition and passion for power.
Brilliant! All we need now are the Arryns and Tullys. Maybe you could also do the Free Folk, Braavosi, Dothraki, Qartheen or Ghiscari?
Finally a new Game of Thrones symbolism vid, it's been far too long since the last one. Thank you for this :)
Please don't keep us waiting for too long for the next one. There's still House Clegane, House Frey, House Tully, House Umber, House Karstark, House Arryn and House Baelish that you can do vids on.
I love these Game of Thrones Symbolism videos!!!!!!
Incredible. Please do one for the High Sparrrow and his Faith Militant if you can. I think it would be interesting to see what they embody in Westeros. Maybe their presence in the main story, hints at a deeper message from the writer and show creators about religion and how, if at all, we can apply lessons from their virtues and shortcomings in our own lives.
Love this series!
Never seen your channel but amazing detail👏 You have a new subscriber 😊
I need more of these!!!
These videos are always great, thank you very much! Just checking, have y'all done videos on House Tully or House Arryn? It feels like one could round out the great houses. I'd be especially interested in a video on House Tully, as they're one of my faves (and it would probably be easier, since we have a lot more Tully-by-birth characters to work with, whereas House Arryn in the time of the show has one dead guy and one kid we barely ever see).
so finally a face to the voice, you girls are beautiful and great commentators, love your channel guys!
Another great video! BRAVO
I just realized this was released on my birthday.
Thanks
Great job! Glad to see another House/Family breakdown. Fantastic channel especially the playlist for Game of Thrones. I think it would have been great to have added that Samwell fought in more honorable and at times more dangerous battles than his Father and brother. He was a warrior in a unconventional way. He killed a White Walker placing his own well being in danger to protect a Mother and Child. Sam is one of the First White Walker Killers in thousands of years. He killed a White Walker at a time where most of the continent of Westeros are ignorant of their return and actual existence. Maybe including the continent of Essos. Samwell also fought alongside his brothers of the Night Watch including the 998th Lord Commander, King of the North and Heir of the Iron Throne Jon Snow/Aegon Targaryen whom he befriended as a best friend. In that Battle against 100,000 wildlings the biggest Wilding Army the North and Westeros has seen. Including 3 giants. Samwell kept his Night Watch values and fought valiantly against a formidable Wilding/free folk army. Samwell killed a Thenn who are wildlings known for their ferocity as well as stronger weapons, and better living conditions compared to other wildlings. The fact that Sam killed a White Walker and cannibalistic Thenn proves the unconventional yet effective ability of Sam to be a warrior in the most dangerous of times. That's not to mention any of his academic and medical achievements he acquired throughout his journey. His contribution to finding a solution to defeat the Night King in the Great War/Second Long Night is much more militaristic importance than what Randyll or Dickon ever faced. While Randyll handed Robert his only defeat during Robert's Rebellion and faced Daenerys dragon Drogon in a Field of Fire 2.0 these still don't compare to what Sam is helping Westeros to face. Sam truly embodies a Tarly. Bold, brave, honorable, committed to a cause, and a warrior always in the thick of epic big battles/wars.
