Here it is! What we've all been waiting for!
I have a lot to say about this.
I honestly didn't even know if I could FC this song going into it. Normally when I start playing through a new game, If I think I may struggle just FCing a song in the game, I go for that song first so it's out of the way. Not with this one. This was the last FC I did in this game (beside going back and improving my scores on a few songs). I was fully expecting to be uploading a good run where I missed in the trill, but I found an incredibly good method for hitting it: THE SLIDER BAR! More on that later.
This song wouldn't actually be that hard if it were on GH3 or Clone Hero. It still wouldn't be easy, but it wouldn't be ungodly hard like it is in this game. The reason for that is the slider sections- mostly the trill from 1:26 to 1:30.
Why do the slider notes make the sections harder? Slider notes work differently from other kinds or notes. The timing windows overlap. This means that on trill sections like in this song, if you hit one of the O notes too late, it might interpret that button press as you wanting to hit the O note after the one you intended, thus skipping over 2 notes. Since the notes in this trill are so close together, it is very, very easy for this to happen. If you hit the slider notes early, that decreases the chances of you overlapping timing windows, so that is the best method for hitting slider notes regardless of pattern in this game.
This trill section is by far the hardest section to hit in the game because it feels completely random if you will miss or not. I had a very time hitting it with normal frets, but I found an old video from Marbler, the first person to get the Full Series Full Combo including Warriors of Rock ( • SATCH BOOGIE FC!!!!!!!... ), and he used the slider bar, so I figured I'd give it a shot, and holy shit it works great. It's not 100% consistent, but I was able to hit it maybe 1 in 8 tries, which was way better than I was doing with normal frets. This is the only song I've ever found the slider bar useful. I normally use a Les Paul, so I even had to switch over to a GH5tar to FC this fucking song.
I think it took me about 8 Solo D FC's in a real run to actually FC. Once I got relatively consistent at Solo D, I lost my consistency on Solo F lol. What I ended up doing was one-handing up until the GRBO section, then I tapped until the end. This gave me the best results because I could start preserving my stamina with tapping so my fingers wouldn't get tired towards the end.
I suppose this would be a good time to mention that this is 1st place, and will probably stay 1st place forever because fuck this song. Luckily, this was probably my best solo D activation I had gotten in my grind sessions. It's very hard to get full whammy from that G sustain before the trill because you need get you hands in tapping position. Hitting the G sustain early helps with this, but I'm still missing 400-600 on this activation. 419K is definitely possible, but it would be very hard, and I'm just fine with 418K haha.
I'm very happy with how well I was able to do on this game. Going into it, I expected to maybe be able to get like 20 first places. I ended up getting 50/86 1st places. Not as good as my GHWoR playthough, but still pretty fucking good. This game is a lot more optimized than WoR was, and elScarecrow is considered one of the best "new school" squeezers (GHWT+), so I'm satisfied with how I did. I had a great time playing through this game again; there's quite a few great songs in this game, and quite a few things that could only happen with tons of Activision $$$ (Like getting Tool, Eagles, Michael Jackson, all the guest characters esp. Hendrix, etc.). Hopefully the next few games aren't as bad in terms of copyright blocks on youtube.
The next game is Guitar Hero Aerosmith. I'll start uploading that game in the next few days, I don't have many filler videos this time around. I was able to get some very nice scores in that game, so stay tuned!

@-curtiscamp Just recently got it on ps3. It's not horrid, but it's definitely much more bearable, unlike Live. I'll play a Taylor Swift song over Skrillex any day.

@@yol_nNot really. The slider bar was used as a replacement for buttons on tap notes and it could also be used as a replacement for the whammy bar on sustains. In most cases, the slider bar wasn’t that helpful so it didn’t get a whole lot of use. It also didn’t help that you needed a guitar hero 5 guitar or a guitar hero world tour guitar to use the slider bar in the first place. However on this song, since the tap notes are so close in those trills, they are very inconsistent to hit with normal buttons due to the fact that tap notes in this game have an overlapping hit window which makes it possible to hit a later note before the note that you are supposed to hit which causes you to miss a note. However, on this song, using the slider bar makes it more consistent to hit the notes in the trills, which is very important when you are going for a full combo on a song. The description goes into a lot more detail on the slider bar technique so I would recommend reading that if you want more info, but that basically sums it up.

I know those two notes with the star power saved me in the real tough solo part.
Also through the fire and flames makes this look like a piece of cake
I could do this 9/10 times, but I'd pass the start of through the fire and the flames maybe 1/50
1:26 when you use the god awful slider on the genericaster and it finally has a good use
I would get so pissed because the damn slider on my guitar would tap by itself and would fail any song without even touching the slider because apparently tapping it counts as a strum
slider bar is now one of the greatest gimmicks of all time, only rivaled by the re4 chainsaw gamecube controller

I use a Les Paul only, so idk about the slider bar. It must be really bad for players not to use it on long slider sections like 1:57 to 2:38 where u don't have to change between reg notes and sliders

@@zooms7889 u need a full bar of star power going into the solo and survive a little bit of the beginning of it. activate star power pretty much where he does in the vid. as long as u hit the star power phases u will constantly have some that will get u through the solo. that was my strat.

Sorry to get all deep for a sec but this is actually some of the most fun I've had in a while watching you FC all the way from Livin on a Prayer up to Satch Boogie over the span of several months. I just discovered your channel while you were doing the World Tour DLC vids so I was just in time to see this FGFC happen with everyone else and the sense of community here is amazing. It's always cool to interact with fellow GH fans and this has been a great ride. Time to get hyped for Aerosmith!

I can ~almost~ FC the long tapping part on this song in CH, but on WT it is something else. I struggle so much as the game feels slightly more intolerant to being off the beat and an awful latency that makes me need to focus about 1/4 ahead on the highway to compensate. Aiming right on the frets sometimes causes me to be too late which esp. hurts on high NPS parts. Yuck.
Sounds about right. CH and WT handle slider notes totally differently. You need to be very precise on WT

Before you tried out the slider bar tapping on Solo D, how close were you too FCing it with regular tapping? I’ve never hit It on WT, but now I wanna try out the slider tapping myself. & Congrats on the playthrough you killed it as always mane :-)
So it's finally here: the last song in the setlist. It's been a pretty good run: I'd have to say, this is probably my second favorite Guitar Hero game right after Warriors of Rock (GH3 comes after those two.)
As for this song, HOLY FUCK, this song feels like it lasts an eternity. I know it's actually that long, but goddamn if it doesn't feel that way. And that minute long slider section is just an absolute assblast, must've took me a solid two hours just to get pass it, period.
That section must be like over 30 seconds of those sweeps back and forth.

There's some differences from GH on tour decades. In WT the note streak is 1288 while the On tour decades is 1022 note streak. Hardest song I ever heard and the chart is different.

Can I just say I don’t really like WT or GH5 guitars for two handing stuff? When ever I go to two hand I always press the pause button because of how easy it is to press, and in the official games I always over strum or mess up the pattern. Also, which game are you going to be doing next?

The franchise would start to fall apart all over again because making guitars are expensive. No joke, when they worked on a Guitar Hero 7 in 2011, they canceled because they couldn’t keep up the support after they milked the franchise to death thanks to Activision.

what with the "G pressing" in the trill? (1:26) It is things I DO commonly xD
I was anchoring G when going into the trill, but the slider bar overrides that and it shows that I stopped anchoring it, even though I didn't. So every time I hit the B, it showed it anchored, every time I hit the O with the slider bar, it showed it not anchored.
