This Series will focus on the teachings and Preachings of Maha Swami brought out through a family of four generations. So it is a Series on Periyavaa linked by this family. The head of the family BAPURAJAPURAM BALAKRISHNA SASTRIGAL had been with Maha Periyavaa since 1960 and follows HIS footsteps meticulously.
'PERIYAVAA' series will provide an insight into the life of KANCHI MAHAN, HIS Upadesams, HIS untiring efforts to reinstate SANATHANA DHARMA, VEDA SAMRAKHANAM and also highlight HIS views on varied subjects including art & culture, science, politics and how a human being should conduct himself in his day to day life!
The highlight of this Series is almost all the artistes are facing the camera for the first time!
The series will focus on the seer who is believed to be the REINCARNATION OF LORD PARAMASIVAN himself, having descended on the Earth to propagate Sanathana Dharma and lead humanity to the path of righteousness.
The prime aim of the Series will be to highlight the purpose of HIS being on this Universe and what HE lived for, rather than capturing the miracles attributed to HIM.
The series is to be totally funded by the Rasikas with their contributions
This is, therefore, an earnest appeal to all the Devotees of Maha Periyavaa to come forward and contribute ‘Yatha Shakthi’ and ensure that the lofty ideals fructify.

One of the objectives seems to be to criticize everything that people abroad do.
I have one question. Why do sankaracharyas do not wear yagnopavitham (poonal). Even sri adi sankara bhagavath paadaal is shown without poonal. Here in the episode child mahaperiyava's upanayam was conducted. So why sankaracharyas do not wear poonal.
For sanyasis in maadhva and smarta sampradayam yagnopaveetam is banned.
But in srivaishnava sampradayattile punul sanyasigalikkundu.

Namaskaram sir, i heard in a speech on periyava autobiography. In that he mentioned periyava went to school and performed well initially, later he didn't do well. But in this episode you are saying, his father itself teaching everything at home. Can you please clarify.

You are right. That was a little later. This was when he was around 4-5 years. The school part of it is dealt with in the subsequent episodes

Many viewers have doubt about the following:
1. As we know Periyavaa was born in Kannada Smartha Brahmin family, how come they talk in Tamil.
2. For the same reason how come Mahalakshmi maami was shown as wearing madisaar which is Tamil culture.
3. For the same reason , why they wrote “ Swaminathan “ in Tamil and not in Kannada .
For these we have to go back in history and do some checking. There was a king ( governor) in Tanjavur called Sevappa Nayak( சேவப்ப நாயக்கர்) who ruled as a representative of Vijayanagar Empire in 1532 to 1560. His minister was Govinda Dikshitar who was a Hoysala Smartha. During his period many Agraharams were created and to fillup these, Brahmins from Karnataka were brought to Tanjavur. One such family settled in Echchangudi near Thiruvaiyaaru. Mahalakshmi maami ( mother of Periyavaa) was from this family. Another family settled in Thiruvidaimarudhur and Subramanya Maama ( father of Periyavaa) belongs to this family .
So at the time of Periyavaa’s birth in 1894, his ancestors had been living in Tamilnadu for more than three centuries (350 years) . In these times many things might have changed. The families might have lost touch with Kannada language. There was no chance of learning Kannada in Tamilnadu during these times ( Tamil, Telugu, Sanskrit and possibly English could be learnt). I have seen many Telugu families migrated to TN during these times and some of them use Telugu in their homes still ( which they call as Telugu but original Andra people don’t accept ) and many of them use Tamil only in their homes as they lost touch with their ancestory..
If a Tamilan goes to Delhi and settles there for 1000 years still he would be called as a மதராசீ even though he might have totally forgotten about Tamil language and the culture. Same thing applies for other communities also.
So considering the fact that his ancestors migrated many centuries ago , it is possible for the family to completely become Tamil Smarthas from Kannada Smarthas. Regarding the madisaar issue FB shows that madisaar is being worn by Kannada Smarthas also ( though not called as madisaar).
@Vishvesh Sethuraman My point was since these families stayed in TN for 350 years , showing them speaking Tamil and writing Tamil words in the serial is acceptable as anything is possible in these time period since we don't have records of each and every migrated family to concretely conclude anything..(meaning if it was shown that they spoke Kannada and wrote in Kannada alphabet, that is also acceptable). But we cannot be 100% sure that they have used Kannada only..
Sorry, kannada smarthas style of wearing saree is different from madsaar. It is called "olakachhe" that is only inside kachham not like maharashtrian (out side)kachham. In my childhood I have seen such style. But now it is not seen.

Pranams. I have one clarification Chanakya Sir. I. General, maternal uncle (தாய் மாமா) used to write child's name but here his Mother wrote it. Is it Kannada sampradayam or maternal uncle ah illayaa? Just want to understand the reason behind this.
In Karnataka sampradayam father only writes on rice on the plate.
