      @@AdventureChasing The first time I was ever up on the Sault Sainte Marie. We brought fillets back and clean them and I was shocked to find out that the meat actually smelled like freshly cut cucumber. I know that sounds weird but that’s what it reminded me of. And the fillets were the most amazing ones I’ve ever eaten in my life.

    Have you ever tried bleeding your fish? We do it out here on the west coast. Cut the gills. Makes for better quality filets...as well as flavor...less of a fishy taste. Also take one cube of butter ..1/4 cup of lemon and lime juice...minced garlic...cook down in a sauce pan till butter is melted and mixed well...add salt (kosher is best), and pepper to taste (in sauce). Mix sauce in with 1 1/2 cup of mayo...mix well. Foil boat or wrap for grilling and foil lined baking dish to bake. Keep covered. Fish is moist and outstanding. Can also season with Johnny's Alaska Salmon seasoning prior and let fish dry marinade for about an hour.... can't beat it.

    • @davidclearman2501

      Also add some dill weed to the mayo...and if you choose to...a table spoon of sour cream

    • @AdventureChasing
      @AdventureChasing  2 года назад

      I definitely agree. The only thing that keeps me from doing it is my fish box turns into a nightmare to clean out when I bleed fish in it and things get really busy during a good bite to bleed each one in the water.

    Great video Kyle but coming from the UK we don't know what 4 colour and 6 colour is. Is it just the colour of the line or is it to do with breaking strain of line. I enjoy your films so keep them coming. You get very exited don't you.

    • @kirkc5823
      @kirkc5823 2 года назад +2

      Generally when talking colors, we are referring to leadcore line which is spooled onto a backer line, every ten yards is a different color so you know how deep your bait will run.

    • @AdventureChasing
      @AdventureChasing  2 года назад +1

      Thank you Brian! Glad you enjoy them. A four color is the name of a trolling set up common in the Great Lakes. I could’ve done a better job explaining it for sure. The reel has 4 different colors of line on it and each color of line is 10 yards long. Each color you let out while trolling dives appx. 5’ down in the water column. We then will attach a planer board onto a braided backing and send it way out to the side of the boat. It’s a very affective way to troll shallow water for us👍

    Recycle those aluminum cooking trays. We do. Halibut #1 flavor, Freshwater Sockeye a very, very close #2. King Salmon #3 and on par with Ling Cod, Coho a very close 4th, Small Lake trout about even with Coho and Walleye....then bass and pike.

    Had some friends that are fish biologist for the department of natural resources and they were saying that the Atlantic salmon fight so hard that if you put them in the live well to revive them or put them back in the water for release they build up an acid in the blood that eventually they die . They said they were out on a charter and said that what happened to there fish. Put them in the live well and they died. Belly up!

      @@AdventureChasing Also the Koke's Are hatchery raised for lakes They can get nice in size like searun sockeye, they have done so much to our lakes here The average koke is 6 inches depending on where you go. But like The sockeye that go up The Skagit river to Baker lake. The meat can't be beat. They pen them at the dam AND reliece them on the up river side of the dam , the meat if caught soon enough is blood reddish orange. Stays Pink after it's cooked. If you get the chance. Every August, there's an opening on that lake when the quota is reached you can fish the lake but no guiding. Also a try this time, we do what is called plunking for them it hit and miss but you catch them regularly on spinglow In river or hootchies in the lake trolling.
