I’m watching this and I hope this is me in the coming weeks. Watching all the Russell tech fishing I can, picking up some standby flasher flies, maybe a mix of spoons for coho or early kings with a 3-4 rod setup depending if I’m solo, likely dipsy and and pump handles setups. Will be my first time trolling, first time trolling salmon, first time fishing Lake Michigan. So when I see a guy a little newer to the sport, not as seasoned as some others, similar setups and same flashers I first purchased, throwing shout outs to “my guy” Russell tech fishing (WHO I don’t know btw lol) makes me think, hope I can have success too. Great job! New to your channel, am now a subscriber
The “secret weapon” is effective in super clear water because it gets the spoon below the path of disturbed water trailing directly behind the cannonball.
I'm new to your chanel and really like all your videos I have seen so far. I just moved to Sheboygan not to long ago. I can't wait to hit the water with this spring. Great job with your camera work and the explanation of all your takel step-ups. Let me know if your in the Sheboygan area. Oh yeah I'm from Madison : )
Love this video! Lake MI was my home town lake growing up and this video brings back some great memories, thanks for sharing! Awesome catch too!!!! One old timer who fished the big pond a lot said that for some reason he believes that once that fly is in a fishes mouth, it becomes more attractive. He said if you catch one and keep it to eat, to put other flies in its mouth for a while. Must have to do with scent being on it or something. Russell is a great guy!!!!!!
I'm starting to see that pattern too with a hot leader! Russell's videos have for sure made me a much better fisherman when it comes to trout and salmon
Love your hybrid down rigger set up. What pound main line do you run to attach to the leadcore? I fish walleye over trees on the Missouri River and was thinking 20-30 lb mono main line to 18lb lead core to 10lb fluorocarbon . Generally down 35ft of water. Love your channel
Thanks Bob! For the salmon I run 25lb mono main line to a couple colors worth of 27lb leadcore (since we're using bigger stuff - flashers, dodgers, ect), to a 25lb mono leader on the downriggers.
Do you think it would work for me to use 30lb braid as my main line? I use the Scotty Mini Down Rigger release. I’m thinking 30lb braid to two colors of lead to a 10lb fluorocarbon with a 1/2 ounce swim bait! My thinking is if I get hung up in the trees my setup will break at the fluorocarbon! What do you think?
They are traxstech A-600 adapter plates. They work with most rod holders and fit in any track system! Great way to keep your Scotty style holders when you switch to tracks
@@MadisonAngling thanks, I have just little 6” section tracks on my boat at the moment for rod trees, the Scotty holders seem to be holding up on the dipsy divers
@@michaelpopp1783 your state still cheated all the other states and fishermen! Facts! Lots of bait cuz all the other states reduced stocking. Shame on Wisconsin....u prolly think snagging is ok too. It would make sense
I use medium light rods, Akuma blue diamond, and I use the Okuma Coldwater 20 series real my entire life run the 20 series. I’ve never lost a fish because the real size it does just a good job is a lot funner because it’s more like gear and all that leg core wire that stuff they just sell you because I know you buy at the gimmick I’ve been using just downrigger‘s in normal street up Big Jay mainline and suffix 25 pound Flora carbon lead I get all kinds of Fish.

That was a really great video, You guys were putting in some pretty good work in a tiller boat in that weather!

Can you tell me how or guide me to a video showing how you use your trolling motor as your autopilot.
Usually fish 4-5 inch swim baits on 1/2 ounce jig!

@@MadisonAngling agreed, he has great videos with tons of great info!
Very nice Noah.
Great video guys
Great video guys, I’ve been out on Lake Ontario a few time as well, captured some good kings and lakers on video
Video showing secret weapon setups.
Enjoyed your video and suggestions. How big is the boat you are fishing out of and size of motor?
Thank you very much! That boat was an 19 foot tiller with a 75hp Mercury 4 stroke. I have since upgraded to a Ranger 620 with a 250hp mercury
Great Video
Thanks Russell! Your videos have been incredibly helpful!!

Whats too rough for a small boat? How big is your boat?
Usually constant white caps means it’s too rough.
5:19 is that what I think it is? 🤨
I have no idea how that made it on board 🍌🍌
Glad your enjoying the overstocking while all the other states followed the recommendations and struggle.
Yeah, because I'm the one in charge of Wisconsin's fisheries management 🙄 but yes, very much enjoying it!
Wisconsin announced its stocking and there is tons of bait. Kiss off
