    A change of scenery is a good way to pull me out of a funk. If I'm at my computer, mad at stuff, I try to force myself to go upstairs and just do something else for 10 minutes. Step outside. If I can go for a walk do that. Anything to get out of my head for a few minutes can really change my perspective.

    • @waywardmind
      @waywardmind 2 года назад

      Absolutely. Changing what you're doing and where you are is a great way to shift perspectives. If you're sitting and working at a computer, stand up and go for a 10-minute walk around the block. It can make a real difference, as small as it seems.

    • @evercuriousmichelle
      @evercuriousmichelle 2 года назад

      I really like to take a walk, especially if it's in a busier area where I can observe people going about their days, it reminds me that this is a big world and that helps me put my stress into perspective (not minimize it, but just remember that it probably doesn't need to take up so much space in my brain).

    My mood lifting go to (started during the lockdown & has been in constant - as in practically daily - rotation ever since, especially since my husband unexpectedly died):
    Take a shower (*not* cold, that’s torture for me) and sing along to (okay, more like perform) the HamilFilm soundtrack. Or get in the car & do the same (minus the shower - showers in cars are messy.)
    In fact, I need to stop procrastinating, so I’m going to go do that now! Thanks WheezyWaiter!

    This video got me thinking of a content idea for you (though I imagine you have plenty of those!) - "I spent one month learning about the menstrual cycle" (the link was mood>PMT!). Menstrual cycles generally last a month and 50% of the population experience it relentlessly for years. You could set out 30 days of the cycle and talk to a different woman every day about their experiences of that stage of the cycle (ie period, ovulation, luteal). You could reflect on how, if it were you, that stage of the cycle might have effected your day (eg cancelling plans due to period pain, or suffering PMT during your birthday).

    Weird coping mechanisms from lockdown and the frustration of moving home to The Middle Of Nowhere with My Parents;
    - singing. Lots and lots of singing.
    - screaming in the car on the way to the gym when I'm having an "I hate everything" day
    - having a Bad Thoughts Journal where I can stab the pen into the pages as hard as I like and it doesn't matter and free writing until I realise the issue is something really unrelated to what I'm mad about
    - ripping up paper into tiny tiny bits. Works at work in the bathroom for a 5 minute time out and at home when you want to shred your bills
    - recognising a consistently sad or angry mood can be generated by the music I'm listening to (I have to ration Folklore and Evermore and Sour now...)
    - picking flowers
    - having plans, even if it's a month or two away just knowing when I get to leave the house next and see someone I love is SO important to me
