All these negative comments about how this collection is boring is such an insult to not only Karl Lagerfeld, but to the whole design team and the house brand. This collection was carefully put together with Karl’s inspiration drawn from somewhere where he spends countless hours sketching out his ideas. Hundreds of staff members (seamstresses, pattern makers, designers, etc) collaborated and spent months and late hours creating each piece. Only a true fashionista and a lover of art can appreciate the quality and craftsmanship that was carefully applied to each piece. Chanel stands for classic and timeless elegance for the woman who wants luxe tailoring (using tweed) and artistic details. If this bores you then you don’t understand the house of Chanel. Also, it’s not easy for a creative director to come up with something completely new and exciting, each and every season. Expectations are always going to be high but I believe that every collection is beautiful and spectacular in every way. Not to mention the attention to detail he puts into the location and design set for each show.

Honestly I think the high prestige of the Chanel brand makes people envious so they close their minds and turn to negativity because it doesn't fit exactly their vision of perfectness. The more incredible your work is the more critics will fall, the grand majority are not relevant and come from frustration and envy.
This show was very elegant to me, as a designer for movie this is gold to my eyes and my brain ^^ All the little hands at Chanel really did an amazing job, like usual. Much respect from me.

don't try to sell me things that don't look good. It doesn't matter how many people worked on it for how many hours , all of that is in vain if the end result isn't up to par.

I like this collection, the details, the cuts, the concepts seem clear and joyful, very girly and timeless.
I agree! it was the essence of Parisian glamour! But my favorite haute couture collections are the spring 2017, spring 2016 and the fall 2008! This collection just didn’t have strong point of view, but the set design and music was fantastic none the less! And CHANEL + Karl have so many historical fashion moments that I’m not even mad at this one being slightly lackluster! 😘
What will be the price of haute couture clothes??

I love watching this show. Amazing dresses. Even if many said "boring" "same" "not creative" but for many others it's amazing,beautiful. It's just life, some people love some people dislike.

A true celebration of femininity, form, and function...a truly beautiful collection...loved the classics that kicked off the show. Pure Chanel...true to the "look" of this venerable house. The matching boots bought monochromatic dressing to a whole new level...brilliant and inspired. The simple headpieces were truly the "cherry on top" of this array of exquisitely executed simplicity.
Taking it to the next level...the "confetti ensemble" blew me away...joie de vivre itself...and the perfect segue to crisp whites with punches of fuchsia...and both vibrant, and soft pastels, designed with masterful discretion and pure artistry. Blue, black, and silver iterations were cool and sexy without sacrificing the integrity of the collection as a whole. Be-ribboned...feathered...pleated...flounced...and jewel encrusted looks for evening followed suit...and kept me enthralled and enchanted...and wanting for more.
As for the presentation...perfection...as per usual. The set...the music...the pacing...unparalleled on either side of the Atlantic. Chanel remains at the top of the game...the essence of couture in it's highest form. Coco is smiling...somewhere...certainly, in my imagination.
Bravo M. Lagerfeld...you are indeed the king of couture...long may you reign!!! Long may you live!!!

CHANEL enrich haute couture. which looks at beauty and luxury. the simplicity and elegance behind each tweed and accessory suit. I love karl as you show that hiding your hands in your pockets looks very chic on the catwalk. you also make the designs have a beautiful contrast with the ecenography
I thought much of that was really beautiful, especially some of the pieces toward the end. Loved the soundtracks.

I literally just got done saying this to myself. And it's no insult, but how many ways can you rework tweed? It's beautiful ,but not as creative as other seasons.
Terrell Mack Yes that's one thing I think all the time - yes tweed is their signature fabric, but there'll come a time when you won't be able to do anything "new" with it..?
Part of why I admire Chanel's couture is part of the reason I think it's problematic - they have really some of the most geometrically accurate and elaborate embroideries, which must be a technical feat in comparison to doing free-form large florals or curlicues, but then from far and on those blocky silhouettes Karl favours, all that detail just reads as good ol' tweed.

I love the shoes and also that they match with the coat I think its nice. Especially the all pink outfits
The 1st 6 minutes seems very restrained, very ready to wear as is. The middle moved forward to couture. Not all of the pieces worked for me - to be expected. The final 3rd was adventurous. Numerous items were rock solid. Everything looks good on a skinny tall young pretty thing, but I can see real world ladies in this collection. Chanel knows how to put on a show, no doubt about it. It's Broadway! Bravo.

I really enjoy the show, the dresses were beautiful and elegant as always. I am really upset to read a lot of bad comment like "boring", "always the same things", "nothing new"... because every look were different I dont see the same fabrics,the same colors or the same form. And that because I think that Karl is a pur genius : he does 8 collections by years for Chanel, he always respect the codes of the brand and its always different theme, colors, fabrics,form... it's absolutely not repetitive !

As an ordinary person and not a fashion critic, I tend to watch shows of certain houses simply for my own pleasure. In this case, Karl Lagerfeld and his couturiers never disappoint. You know Mademoiselle has created her whole little world with its rules and key points - this is G.C.'s universe - clean cuts, tweed, suits, evening dresses. Most of the shapes look fresh and modern. You cannot expect Chanel to go outside its general aesthetic because it lies on Mademoiselle's personal tastes. The only thing her successors can try to do is find ways to stay true to her heritage and give it a modern spirit. In this way K.L. more or less succeeds every collection. I'm not sure about some of the colors though.

I kind of really like this Western Chic meets Sugar fairy style. It somehow manages to be tough and overly sweet at the same time. The powerful walk and androgynous body shapes, right down to the wedding pant suit, create a juxtaposition to the overkill of baby pink and wedding veils.
Also, reading comments about how the collections "Look the Same", I would recommend looking closer. It's in the details. The genius is the reinvention/modernization while staying true to Chanel.

I'm sure the tailoring and finishing of each piece is superb but would one really want to dress like this in 2018? Can't one design something of today with just a "wink" at the past? It all looks so tired and "deja vue". I think the House of Chanel desperately needs a breath of fresh air.

Chanel: ALWAYS LOTS TO LOVE. However, it seems like some of the clothes were designed by someone other than Karl? The shoulder/sleeve situation looked uncomfortable/restrictive. Some surprisingly "Less than Perfection" we have come to expect.
Pretty pastels and other colours.
Silhouettes of the clothes are not too punishing for less than perfectly-shaped bodies.
Therefore, wearable.

Monsieur Lagerfeld vous êtes au top, superbe collection, pleine de références délicieuses (pas Marie-Antoinette, je ne crois pas), j'ai envie de presque tout ; éclairages subtils sous les tonnelles comme le soleil au travers des frondaisons ! Des années Bicot portées avec tant de délicatesse par des Suzie dessinées aux pastels. Et toutes ces gentilles petites bottines que Monsieur pourrait ranger avec amour. ;)))
