Hebrew have originated from Abhiru(Abiras/Ahirs/Yadavs) tribe of India. The martial art name is related to name Abhir (Abir). Roman called jewes as Yahudi because they are the people of ya. ya is refere to yadu(yahdu) anicent hindu king from which yahudi are considered and from same yadu , yadavas of today have originated. Yahudi and Yadavas are same , both there tribe Hebrew and Abhiru is also same.

He was born in 1958 as Nigel Wilson into a Breslover Hasidim family in Jamaica.
His family moved to Los Angeles in 1963 where he studied Tang Soo Do, receiving a black belt by 1968, aged ten. He studied Kuk Sool Won from 1974, advancing to 6th dan, and worked as a trainer and bodyguard during the 1970s and 1980s.
He moved to Israel in 1989, and in 1993, he recorded a minor Israeli hip hop hit in Hebrew, חומוס מטמטם Humus Metamtem ("Humus Makes You Stupid"). In 2000, he ran a Kuk Sool Won school at the International Convention, Jerusalem.

    I don't know about this.
First of all, Sofer has all my respect as a martial artist. I've met the guy a few times, and in terms of skill he's the real deal. Going way back before I found Muay Thai, Judo, BJJ and Krav Maga I studied traditional martial arts including forms of Kung Fu, Kyokoshin, etc; during that period I'd travel around to see different styles.
I remember sitting in on his classes a few times. Without question, Sofer is very experienced, fast, powerful, and smart. Tough guy and exceptional at self defense techniques.
However, when I took his classes, it wasn't called Abir. It was "Kook Sool Won." If memory serves, Sofer is one of the highest ranking Kook Sool Won blackbelts in the world. I remember seeing the picture of all the top ranked guys and Sofer was among them. You can probably look it up.
Kook Sool Won is a Korean martial art, and at the time I liked that it involved a mixture of striking and submissions (traps) -- even some grappling (I hadn't yet learned Judo or Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at the time). If you never heard of Kook Sool Won, think back to the early UFCs, and you'll recall Gary Goodrich in his black Kook Sool Won gi. I remember thinking... did he just make up that name?” Heard he didn’t actually study it... sort of a showmanship gimmick.
I'm highly skeptical about Abir's roots. It's one thing if Sofer invented it; every person I ever studied under creates his own style from various teachers, etc. That's cool.
But if Sofer is claiming Abir comes from an ancient Jewish tradition I'd need to see a lot more proof. Unless there is more than word-of-mouth, I have to believe the essence of his style is based in Korean martial arts. My issue here has to do with the integrity of history, not Sofer. Maybe there really was an ancient martial art called Abir, but I never heard of it. I don’t buy it at all.
I mean no disrespect to the guy. He's a legit martial artist.

I've read about this guy, he's a real martial artist. But the whole ancient Hebrew art is suspect, I think he's actually a Kuk Sool Won black belt and created his own style- nothing wrong with that, Bruce Lee did the same thing with Jeet Kune Do base of Wing Chun, Chuck Norris Chun Kuk Do base is Tang Soo Do of couse Tae Kwon Do was created in the 1950s from Shotokan.

Now I don't know how valid this is, and for some of his techniques they seem a bit unstable but saying his techniques come from other martial arts as a reason to call this fake is not wise. For instance there is a Chinese martial art for the (forgive me if I'm spelling this wrong) the mio Dao which is almost exactly a katana and many techniques mimic those of kendo and kenjitsu, and kenjitsu mimics many techniques from historical European longsword manuals. So does that mean the others are any less legitimate to each other? No but our bodies work in limited ways and anyone using a similar platform will draw parallels from completely unrelated cultures. That is undeniable fact and to deny this is lunacy.

Here's an easy question. Since he claims to have learned from his father, is there any record of someone interviewing his father? If he learned this from his father, it would be great to hear it from the master of this "grandmaster." And if he's trained with Bruce Lee, where is the proof? So many people have claimed to be "original" and to be "masters," but they're just imitators of someone else's system with some changing of techniques and names. At least Bruce Lee admitted that he learned from others, absorbed what was useful, and didn't claim his system was ancient. Whether this "Abir" system is ancient or not, what's important is if it's "grandmaster" is honest and can teach his students to effectively handle themselves in a real situation against a non-compliant opponent who's really trying to hurt or kill them.

I have much respect for the history and artfulness of this form of martial arts, but does anyone know of any video showing this being used in a practical a way and not a choreographed demonstration?

Many of the techniques of Abir (twists, holds, punches, kicks, projections, fighting with knives and swords, etc.) show similarities with martial arts techniques such as kung-fu, aikido, judo and karate, but the movement is typically Jewish, showing its roots in the ancient fights and festive dances of the Hebrew people.

It does not matter which martial art you are using the opponnet is always a human. Anatomy puts constraints on how you can move and what can be done to the enemy. The basics are the same in every martial art.
