You didn’t ask any valid questions and he said everything but told you nothing, if Dean is still alive and well then why is every guitar back ordered since 2022?
Thanks for putting all the work in dude, I've loved your channel since 15K, and your positive attitude will take you far :) And like yourself, I'm a big fan of Dean Guitars, got my own black cadi select and it's a beast.
Great interview, man! Chris is one of the best dudes... smart as a whip, and talented as a muthafucka! I'm happy as hell to be back on the DEAN roster, but equally (if not more) happy to be on Team Cannella!! GET YER WINGS!!
I am the proud owner of a 2019 VMNT which I love. However, it is with a heavy heart that I must give the following constructive criticism. The people in charge of distribution need to shape up. I got my Dean from Xtreme lefty guitars, but first I tried to order it here in Japan from Shimamura music, one of Japan’s biggest music store chains. When I told them I wanted a Dean, the store warned me that Dean’s Japanese distributer was notorious for not responding to email requests. Sure enough, the store got no response when they asked to order the VMNT for me. I emailed Dean USA and also got no response. Luckily, I found what I wanted at Florida’s Xtreme Lefty guitars, but I was still disappointed with the lack of response or effort from Dean itself. Hopefully Dean has corrected this problem from the business end. What is the point of making great guitars if it is so difficult to buy them? Thanks for listening, and thanks for making awesome guitars.
Hell yes! This is great news. I’ve been wondering what’s going on with dean. I’ve been a huge dean fan for decades. It’s been breaking my heart to see the condition of the company for many years now. It’s nice to see things seem to be turning around
I had a Dean Evo 7 string in the very early 2000s and love everything about it. Wish I didn't have to sell it, the only issue was the strings I used were a guage too big for the precut nut, so it was my own damn fault.
@@donbishop6994 I had a 1981 dean ML. My neighbor broke the neck off. I was able to fix it and it played exactly the same as before but it destroyed my love for the guitar. I couldn’t appreciate it anymore knowing the neck had been broken off. I ended up trading it for a dean acoustic that I still have. Tbh I regret that trade SO HARD now. As it took some time I finally realized broken neck or not I had a very special guitar and I should have NEVER gotten rid of it. If that thing ever manages to come back to me I will never let it go again.
Chris is a rad dude. I ran monitors for Deicide one night when he was with those guys and 100% dropped the ball (that's another story but we got through). He was still nice enough to chat with me post show about his Dean guitars and our mutual friend Pat Baker (who works for Dean). He could've told me to fuck off and I totally would've understood but he was cool. Sorry for botching your monitors Chris!
Out of 19 guitars i own... For some reason i really vibe with my black Thoroughbred more than any of them... Although they dont have the stock pickups in it, someone put a Dimarzzio Super Distortion/Air Norton set in it... But yeah, love that guitar... 🤘
Ever since I was younger seeing my cousin play the ML (I think it was the flamed top ML 79) I have always wanted one for myself. Now that im earning my own money I wanted to get one for a few months now but it sounds like they are coming back! Looking forward to owning my own ML 79
Been a Proud Dean Supporter since 2009. Dean player as well. Got the Dean logo Tattooed on my arm. Love Dean guitars. I'm a Bass player, and I know it's not much, but I have 5 Dean Bass's, would love more, but life hasn't been too kind to me in the last year. Sure I have other brands of Bass's but for the most part they Stay in their cases and I only play My Dean's Live. Would love to see Dean do a Bass giveaway contest.
What awesome timing. I just sold my guitars to spoil my kids for Christmas and I’ll be in the market again soon and I’ve always wanted a Dean. I wanted a baritone Icon but those are hard to find.
Loved and had Deans in the 80's through today. Love em to death and appreciate the hell out of Chris and XRC for this interview. I hope it sheds enough light that the grandparent's basement dwelling cape-wearing keyboard warriors find another target. Can't be more excited for the next year of Dean releases and surprises and based on Chris' foreshadowing it's time to go back to NAMM!
Guys like this make me want to play and rep their brand. Hearing someone I can sit down bs and not have to worry about watching my mouth with making guitars still rock n roll. I'm going to go buy a md24 tomorrow 🤘🏻
I have a Dean ml trendkill model and I absolutely love it, I was wondering what was going on with Dean but after hearing this interview I have major respect and full intentions on looking at the lineup and possibly buying something because this is all extremely exciting. Couple of cool dudes just being honest about the industry. Perfect❤
Great interview! I'm surprised they were able to sign on new artists and/or get 7 new signature models coming out early next year. They must have really repaired some relationships and made some big internal changes. It's just been Kerry King carrying the brand recently. I don't see the dimebag estate coming back though as it looks like that ship has sailed. I love that silverburst ml over his shoulder hanging on the wall.🤘I sold one that I salvaged and customized with EMGs and blacked out hardware earlier this year.
Guitars are such a competitive industry now. Lots of new players getting big like Solar. Hopefully, they have new models to compensate for what they lost.
I hope they come out swinging at NAMM. My Dean Vendetta is my favorite guitar, despite being by far the cheapest. Since it sounds like they'll come out the other end of this, I think I'll buy more from them. Gotta love fighters.
Canella, the guy who changes guitar companies like other people underwear, is talking about getting "artists who are in for the long haul...", lel. Other than that, over 30 minutes of marketing and PR-talk, without saying anything of substance. The problem with Dean Guitars is: they don´t have anything that separates them from other companies that make mostly metal guitars. The Dimebag thing was their only big selling point and that is gone. Charvel, Jackson, Ibanez and ESP have their long pedigree of making great rock/metal/shred guitars since the 80´s. Schecter is known for amazing value for money instruments. Solar is also known for that and Ola Englund has a great reputation as someone who really cares about the product he sells. Kiesel has the whole "have us build your own personalized instrument"-schtick going on. Mayones is known for highest level of quality, they´re like the Gucci of metal guitars. EBMM has the Petrucci models, who alone generate massive sales. Dean? They were known for the Dimebag models & fugly and tacky metal guitars, that people bought, who couldn´t afford a Schecter. The new Vengeance & Zero models look great on paper, but: a). they´re nowhere to be found for sale online and b). why should I buy one of those, when I can get a similar guitar from Schecter or Solar, for the same money?
We know Dean's DNA. But balancing the brand's marketing would do them a lot of good on a global level. They have products for all musical styles. Many musicians don't know this, and see them only as a brand dedicated to metal.
I love Dean. I’ve got 2 Dean guitars Tattoos and I’m a bit of a nerd for them, but they reeeeaaaalllly should do more extended range stuff. Within the 800 to 1500 range and not $2500.00 guitars with kahlers😂😂😂 7 and 8 string multiscale models would be noice.
I’m wondering if we are going to see a Robb Flynn signature model.. I don’t know if he is considered a Dean artist or not but the last few months he is rocking an awesome Dean V and I was wondering if there is something going on behind the scenes there which will be amazingly cool! 😉
Just out of interest - where have you seen Robb with a Dean guitar? I've been searching and haven't found anything, neither on his Instagram, the bands or wherever. I would actually like that a lot because neither Gibson nor Epiphone get it going to release a decent baritone V or Explorer that he plays (I know of the old Signature model, but that wasn't that awesome sadly).
@@StefRoGer Robb uses that Dean V I mentioned a lot the last few months in the Electric Happy Hour on the Machine Head channel. Check here for example: ruclips.net/user/liveATO0zN5eF6A?si=kziHM9_hegNTLK56 . On 1:30:00 when they play Kill Thy Enemies(and you can see the love/death fret markers too that Robb had in his signature Epiphone). And not to mention the collaboration between Dean and Machine Head on their last tour where they gave away some Burn My Eyes covered Dean Zs on a few shows.. I think there is some sort of collaboration between them. And as you mentioned Robb deserves a good baritone signature and I think Dean could provide him with one.. it will be a win-win situation for both Robb and Dean guitars if they are indeed working on something there! 😉
@@kostasseth9150 thanks a lot for the info! I knew about the Burn my Eyes collaboration and thought it was a bit weird actually 😅 Let’s see what the future offers…
Once in awhile I get the fleeting impulse to get a Dean VX or '79, for when I'm in the mood to play a v. Mostly it's about giving Gibson the finger for their lawsuit fiasco.
Coming back to this after NAMM. The lineup so far is fine. That’s just my opinion, but it’s just fine. Great guitars to play I’m sure, but I’m not overly enthused. Hopefully the models still to come are what I’m personally hoping for. Also them making the “Dime” ML’s is pretty lame to me. Just because they can doesn’t mean that they should
