ADHD isn't caused by a lack of bloodflow to the brain, so how it this tackling the condition at its root? Was this device FDA approved for treatment of ADHD? Because there's a world of difference between "this helped for my kid" and "this works as a treatment for patients with this condition". And if someone has made dietary improvements, is meditating and getting therapy, it's no surprise that their ADHD improved, with or without an expensive device. Notably, Mendi's website does not make this claim about being used as a clinical treatment for ADHD - which they would have done if they had regulatory greenlight, given the size of that market.
tldr: dubious medical claims are a sign of bad journalism. I'll stick to my meds until you have actual clinical studies instead of just anecdotes and marketing messages.

Usually when I come across new therapies or treatments that could pertain to me, I discuss them with my doctor, the medical professional I trust to make the right decision. I am a disabled Iraq War Veteran with PTSD and when the VA was neglecting my treatment in 2009, I attempted suicide. I survived with a traumatic brain injury in the frontal lobe, greatly complicating my mental illness. Now that the VA is providing the care I am owed (#ThanksBiden), I can address therapies like this one when I see them. My medication options are limited as I have a traumatic brain injury and my brain is sensitive to things like stimulants, often making my PTSD symptoms worse.
Rather than judging a treatment, as a person without a medical degree, you should let your doctor make that call.

Technically meditation is not a medical treatment, but it is a treatment with evidence behind it. For people with no good options, like me, this is something worth discussing with their doctor, even without FDA approval.
Either way, it takes focus, a struggle for people with adhd, to meditate.

Practicing meditation develops the skill of periods of focus. I taught myself the skill over the pandemic and now I use it as needed.
A challenge of executive function issues can be in not having well developed planning and following through on a daily routine skill. I believe that issues with time blindness and a lack of being able to see images in my mind is a big part of the problem.
Myself, besides my new skills of calming myself through meditation, I use a PEMF Pulsed Electro Magnetic Device while I slept to help my brain help me to move past trauma and mitigate what I believe is ADHD.
I really want to get this device as I believe it could further lengthen my periods of focus with less exhaustion over time. @@ChrisTopherBunnell

Agreed. The news cares more about clickbait headlines than reporting accurate, comprehensive research on a level that the average person can understand. Clearly reporters have never taken a basic stats class if they don’t realize that correlation does not equal causation. The only reporter who seemed to understand the consequences of portraying the news this way was the guy at the end who clarified that this doesn’t mean there’s not a need for medication.
Behavioral therapy has long been a way to learn to manage ADHD, but it doesn’t cure the genetic cause; it just makes it easier to deal with everyday things that can still be a struggle even with medication. It’s important to treat ADHD holistically.
I believe the video mentioned that the increased blood flow to the brain aids in dopamine production. Those with ADHD have a low dopamine level. Dopamine is the neurotransmitter responsible for focus, pleasure, reward, and muscle control (and probably more things). Medications that manage ADHD work primarily by increasing the amount of dopamine available in the brain.
When your brain is starved of dopamine, you seek out something rewarding, which often means ignoring anything boring. They should never have named it attention deficit because the issue is controlling your attention, not having a deficit of attention.

    • @holypain8152

ADHD is partially caused by a reduced activity in the prefrontal cortex, increasing blood flow to the prefrontal cortex could theoretically increase its activity which results in reduced ADHD symptoms. But with new therapies, we should all be sceptical.

Ever hear the phrase, "neurons that fire together wire together"? It's about that.
This device is meant to function as a brain retraining tool, not to cure any particular condition, per say; it works by helping the user focus on a singular goal (moving the ball up the hill) for a period of time, wherein the synaptic pathways for focus in general are strengthened. It's less about blood flow and more about building stronger synaptic pathways related to focus.

(quite literally on its way of making him a miniature sociopath) Judging by the parents’ actions, they literally gave their kid Adderall which is contracted from LITERAL alpha-methylphenethylamine and without second thought they also used this device on their child. I am no conspiracy theorist, but I would be weirded out if my kid could suddenly do so much after only receiving some daily instructions and electric stimulus. Am I the parent or is it someone else?

Spoken exactly like a person who does not have adhd.
People dont get adhd from being addicted to video games or social media, they are addicted to those things BECAUSE they have ADHD.
It is a NEURODEVELOPMENTAL DISORDER. Doing those things are beneficial without a doubt, but its really not as simple as “just do that” because then ADHD would not be a DISABILITY in the first place. If you find my comment to be harsh, it is because your comment is harmful, ignorant, insensitive, and incredibly condescending to those who suffer from adhd.

Yeah that’s what I thought. And also not full neurofeedback, it’s likley unless they improved it to be more ai or something to manage it, likley just used to train sustained attention and maybe maybe selective attention. Which those are executive function. It’s more a, practice firing these neurons together, it’s closer to using a weight lifting mentality to improve sustained attention. Which I’ve used play attention before which did something similar, and while it’s hard to draw a line between how much I improved, I do remember on several occasions being suprised how well I focused on something in certain settings. It’s almost like doing it on a semi regular basis could also be helpful.

Depending on where you live and your insurance situation, can influence that.
Typically you go to your primary care physician or general practitioner, and ask them for a referral to a clinical psychologist because you're experiencing what you believe are impairments interfering with your quality of life.
If you get mental health coverage through insurance, you can ask your insurance provider what psychologists are near you specializes in assessing/testing for mental health disorders that include ADHD.
If testing for ADHD specifically, there are different questionnaires and assessments that are used documenting your history and symptoms you may have experienced up until now. ADHD symptoms are almost always seen in some capacity in early childhood.
However, a first time assessment can also cover checking for signs of depression and anxiety.
The clinical psychologist will give a diagnosis if they believe what you described through your assessments aligns with the criteria for a diagnosis.
If you are diagnosed, they might push you in the direction of setting up a visit with a psychiatrist (psychiatrist handle meds, where psychologists handle assessments/therapy/other treatments depending on their specialty).
A psychiatrist can review your psychologist assessment, and will perform one on their own. ADHD is typically treated with a combination of medication and therapy, but it's all individual depending on your treatment needs.

That’s not how it works. ADHD is a mental disorder that people are born with. I myself have suffered from it for as long as I can remember, it’s impacted me to the point my short term memory is so bad that some people think I have dementia or Alzheimer’s.
Curiously enough, I have found that my brain functions normally whenever I am playing video games, watching movies, drawing/painting, or listening to music. It’s very strange, if I were to read a book for the first time however, I would need to re-read it at least 50 times until it stuck with me. After 30 seconds I forget almost entirely what I red, I recall in highschool being tested on this by a teacher to see just how bad my short term memory was when it came to reading or listening to speeches and I simply could not remember anything people said. You can imagine this being a major problem for school life.

I failed the first time but I was diagnosed and given medication and I passed with high marks the 2nd time. People who have ADHD typically have other issues with their brain. I have Major Depression and OCD. I didn't get diagnosed also when I was going to University. My psychiatrist treated one issue at a time with therapy and medication. The depression medication takes care of the OCD also. What a difference in my life when I was finally diagnosed. I am the same about reading, watching tv or videos as far as remembering. The good thing is I can watch a tv show I watched previously like it is almost a new show to me lol. The same with reading. Just because our brains work differently doesn't mean we are stupid. I always got A's or A+ for math and English and I never had to study. The rest of the subjects I struggled with. Housework was exhausting because I couldn't focus on what I was doing. If I needed to put something in the kitchen, then I would find something there to do. Take something to the garage and I would tidy something in there until I focused on something in there that I would need to put somewhere else. It was exhausting and I felt I accomplished nothing. Therapy helped with that. I'm glad you were diagnosed and don't have to struggle.

My medication options are limited as I have a traumatic brain injury and my brain is sensitive to things like stimulants, often making my PTSD symptoms worse.
Rather than judging a treatment, as a person without a medical degree, these people should let their doctor make that call.
As for cannabis, yes it helps me, but NO, it does not help me focus.

If that's the case, then the key is not enlisting to serve your country when they cry about terrorists on 9/11.
Usually when I come across new therapies or treatments that could pertain to me, I discuss them with my doctor, the medical professional I trust to make the right decision. I am a disabled Iraq War Veteran with PTSD and when the VA was neglecting my treatment in 2009, I attempted suicide.
