Glad to see LPD repping Otomo.
These Men made music that is just so dear to my heart. ❤️ ❤️
"We like synthesizers". Amen! :D
I just started to get into this band and I'm joyfully overwhelmed by how immense their discography is, can't wait to get through it all. Props to Amoeba too for putting together such a good video
Neonman78 Welcome to the Pink Dots rabbit hole! It goes a loooooong way down. :)
+Drillkicker I use rateyourmusic.com to figure out where to start with big discographies.
In the eighties I started to listen Legendary Pink Dots. Thanks for the musical suggestions and Amoeeba of course. An Unbelievable musical project!
If you like pink dots Check out song "frosty"
+sooo much more... I Love the Pink Dots..lots to explore!
Thank you so much for including "Friend" in this! I love that song soooo much!!!
I knew it. I knew they wouldn't disappoint. Whenever I watch this show, the underground artist who makes the underground space noises that I like always buy something that's very uncharacteristic, like Joni Mitchell or something, or the Captain and Tennille. Always something you wouldn't expect. But I just knew the Legendary Pink Dots would show me all the bizarre space cadet soundscape noise music that influenced them.
Cool. Love the Dots. And the Slowdive vinyl in the background is the cherry on top.
Phil came up and started a conversation with me at Lounge Axe in Big Chicago. Sometime late '80's or early 90's. I didn't know him to look at, so we had a nice chat, and then he went on stage...
@2:40 "....We like synthesizers."
LPD are such great artists and have a wonderful and rich backcatalogue. And that's not even counting all of Edwards solo stuff and all their side-projects as well. They seem like such easy-going and friendly people. I'd love to meet them and talk about music. :)
Absolutely and underrated
I'm a big fan of LPD with over 30 CD's and counting!! I finally got to see them live in Columbus Ohio years ago which was amazing! I asked if I could meet Edward Ka-Spel before the show and the worker of the club took me to his dressing room and knocked.Edward said to come in and he was doing jumping Jack's to get ready for the show and then the worker closed the door and said it's not a good time:-(... anyhow HELLO Edward and thanks for the AMAZING journey you have taken me on and hopefully many more to come!!!
They have so many essentials. Starting to acquire cds of theirs later in my life. Is hallway of the gods essential. ? Trying to track down copy of crushed velvet
@d_walsh I most certainly would consider Hallways of the Gods essential!! Harvest Babies is one of my favorite songs by them and the album itself is one of my favorites. The Crushed Velvet is also amazing with their classic song Hellsville!! There's SO many good songs and albums by them so good luck finding them because there's always a good stuff on every album!!
LPD, The Best band EVER!
love how many people come in to buy freaky Noise shit, so good seeing stuff like this get talked about
I hope one day, could watch them play live... i love the Dots...
on tour now
Same here. The Dots came here twice in my state, I'm not missing them again.
So happy got to see them 3 times. New Orleans 1997, Phoenix 2010, Austin 2016. Got to chat with them after the later two. My best friend and I were a bit to star struck to approach them in ‘97. They tour A LOT, I’m really hoping they’re planning another North American tour soon.
You will. Ed has lots of alimony payments
Before I left Los Angeles they played at the Roxy at some point and I couldn't go for some reason and I regret that to this day..
Love this! Edward and Phil have been friends of mine for ... like... thirty years, but i never get to spend enough time with them!
It's "Friend" from the album "From here you'll watch the world go by" (1995)
PINK DOTS! Happy Birthday Edward!
i love otomo yoshihide! no one ever seems to have heard of him.
untrue. however didnt really listen heavily. but def aware.
DAmn i love this band...
They lived in my home town for decades and I ran into Phil so many times. Really nice guys. And yes they love synthesizers.
I met Phil and Ed in 2008, we had a really great time , such a lovely people they are.....i love them
I think that's when I saw them. Was it the Plutonium Blonde tour? Soriah opened for them. That poor bastard got destroyed on America's Got Talent. Then again, what would you expect from that show?
ottomo + ground zero + ASTRO
Having the two most prominent members of your absolute favourite band recommend new records is a wonderful idea. It's somewhere up there with being able to actually buy good music in a store instead of ordering them online and even though I'm European, this is something I commend Amoeba for. Don't see that too often in these parts - in fact, not at all.
great artists and great people ,met them in 2008 in their visit to Chile,we even play a song together on their last gig here, long live to Edward & Phil!!
I have that Taurpis Tula LP. It's rather wonderful, the best thing David Keenan has done outside of Telstar Ponies.
lawrence english! ive seen the dots several times in concert and they are incredible. erik drost was so nice to chat w me about his pedalboard, a brilliant band.
I've loved LPD since 1987 thanks to my @ the time GF thanks Lynn
Good one!
Edward and Phil needs to take over the world already!
wow that was great. im going to download all that music... before the end of free music...

Edward Ka-spel!
Hell yeah Edward and Silverman are so awesome!!
LOVE L.P.D.
I grew up with this band
I have th o thank a young man who worked at a Portland Oregon trader joes for turning me on to the Dots.
"ya cont play a burrito on yer turntable"
True fact. Boyd Rice tried it once and went to bed hungry that night.
giggles... I love that line of thinking! It's not technically true, but may result in component damage and I'd say it isn't recommended... better for filling the belly.
words to live by
hippies who hasnt drug them self to death. i came here from some russian kid climbing... god damn i have searched the whole web for something more than a song called "god and machines" which just creeped me out... now i changed my whole view of the band!
thanks
adam eriksson great comment
Dude, viiiiiinylz.
yeah, that's about the size of my music stackwhen@ that store!
incredible picks! did they perchance mention CD alley in chapel hill, nc? thats my go-to place, man.
LPD..so good
Seen LDP and KA-Spell opening for Skinny Puppy (once in Amsterdam , once in Horst both in NL).
Once Ed was looking for records at a fair but didn't reply when I said hello.
Bit of a weirdo imho.
In Amsterdam after opening a door with my foot (with some force) knocked one of the LDP members (SORRY!!!) because my hands were carying other stuff (beer).
LDP is great and their remote wind synth performance was ace (Paradiso).
@recordsallday Good to know. I'll remember you guys next time I come through. Hope to see more freaky psych stuff in stock
cool man
There are the best

@0:47 not gonna let that guy near my records.
I love The Dots, but could someone please list the albums they review here? I can't make out half of what they say and we don't see the titles clearly on all of them. I'd really like to check out what they are checking out. Thanks to you.
Albums sounded pretty cool but I couldn't make out the names.
The legendary pink doooooooooots…………….
This is only due to perfectly expanding quantum consiousness.
anybody has the ID on the opening song?
It would be nice to show the titles of what they're buying.
Check description
holy shit they're real people? i could have sworn they were martians from holland or something
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's like: "How much more black could this be?" And the answer is...none. None more black.
@3:52 Does that say $219.00?!
Looks like 21.99
