A very special thank you to @DeanTennantMTB, who was the project manager behind this Langford Gravity Zone trail network. He's a great guy who happens to be very fast on two wheels, and also has his own RUclips channel now too. Go give his videos a watch, you will not be disappointed! 🤘
This park is more than a place to ride bikes. The hole left in the hearts of the island MTB scene, after the passing of Jordie, will never fully heal. But this park is a testament to his legacy, and how the people who knew and loved him, get to honor that legacy. Every time I ride there I think of the big dog with an even bigger heart. Gone and never forgotten! #RoughAF ❤❤❤ Enjoyed this "first time" ride vlog style. Definitely could keep this vibe in the rotation.
I was at the MTB Symposium and these guys did a presentation on how the park came to be. We were all totally blown away. If every city did this, BC would absolutely kill it at MTB tourism. Not that we’re terrible now 😎
I enjoyed this video. I think "new trail" videos are a great addition to your channel because I bet lots of people (like me) are intimidated by new, unfamiliar trails, and seeing you stop to investigate features and lines before "sending it"... idk, I think it reduces some of the unreasonable expectations I might put on myself in a similar situation; it's okay to go slow and careful. (But YOU, Dale, are a good enough rider that it's not boring to watch).
As I am here because I like your riding style and the way you comment just the right amount while riding I really enjoy every video you make. So keep up the good work🙏
First ride and thought process videos are a great addition. It's immediately fascinating how much more speed you're carrying in many sections than I would blind, but also what you stop to look at and how you plan and progress.
2:48 lol I’ve looked at that rock many times thinking “how can someone get up that??” Haha glad you had fun, it’s such a cool area with something for all skills and abilities.
Another fun one to see you in a different environment and i'd like to thank Onyx for their continued support, hearing everything but a hub making noise is so nice LOL
Totally off topic. But my girlfriend is a jogger. Got her the doggo bundle and she LOVES IT!! Says the belt is extremely comfy and when our tiny fur baby (70lb bully) decides to stop and smell the roses it doesn’t cut her waist in half. We bought collars for all 3 of our dogs and even got 2 as gifts for some friends. Excellent kit for the 4 legged family.
I really appreciate the fact that you put work in to being familiar with trails to make content! That being said, a vacation video with stuff like this is really fun in the mix once in a while!👍👍
I really like these first ride videos. It's definitely nice to see a different side and thought process to your riding. I just got back from riding Squamish for the first time and it was awesome. Not even close to the rider you are but watching you check out the features and plan your attack is nice to see. Enjoy your vacation
Didn’t know you were not much of a jumps kind of guy. I have seen most of your technical stuff which I think is super cool better than the jumps but is good to enjoy places like this too. I also like the way you “study” the trail’s features before you try them, safety first, completely agree with you. Enjoy your vacation dude. 🤙
Hey Dale! I like the first time down trail videos. It's interesting to see which lines you intuitively take and how you tackle something new. Also, it's unique to see you " challenged" with certain styles of riding. Watching you piece together that bike park section with the drop, gap then booter was awesome!
sweet. I've been meaning to get out that way one of these days. I like the 1st ride explore style videos, its more of an improv style of riding compared to a dialed in memorized approach. You don't know what's coming up but you kind of just gotta wing it, trust your skills and make quick decisions as features pop up. Cheers
😂 your taking it easy😂. Awesome content Dale. Great riding blind. Tbh it’s one of the funniest parts of mtb. At least for me. I love exploring new trails. 🔥🤙🏻
i'll +1 the first/only ride video uploads. i think many riders can only get a day in a new place sometimes and will benefit from understanding the limitations of blind riding. even if a rider like yourself can get a trail committed to memory quickly, pointing out that bad line choice and other mistakes happen and are commonplace help normalize "first take" riding.
I don't know squat about mountain biking, aside from what I've picked up from you and some of your contemporaries. I watch your videos because they're relaxing. If you and the bike make it down the hill at about the same time, I assume you did great, so the vacation videos and the practiced ones are all the same to me. 🤷♀
Since pump tracks are so popular, dirt jump, very well made style jumps are everywhere. Once you are familiar with shapes you can trust almost any jump and read them very easy. It is almost like a standard for jumps. Lovely jumps!
You can ride through the whole summer on Vancouver Island and never need to run the same trail twice. You may enjoy filming first rides on Maple Mountain's Maple Syrup & Phloam, and Burnt Bridge's Pandemic & Flying Dutchman.
Wild trail quality for a public project. Maybe consider a second channel for first visits if you're worried about maintaining a certain level of riding on this one? I'll watch either way though, always enjoyable. Any update on the Hayes A4s?
Just was there for the first time 2 weeks ago and can't agree more on what an awesome place!! BTW, I like exploring videos, go check out a spot before riding.... well done Dale! ( did you find the bike hose down station? What a luxury after a dusty ride)
Dave Harris’ comment was really spot on. I like pretty much all your stuff Dale, but there’s a certain relatability for me (and, I’m guessing, a large portion of your audience) to see you slow things down and explore something “new to you”.
Is there scope for a second channel? You say you prefer to film your faster more perfected rides - perhaps have a second channel for more relaxed, chill out, explorative stuff and maybe some more behind the scenes or informative/educational stuff. Just a thought - allows you to keep focus on your main channel but still increasing filming opportunities.
We also use a harness for most walks, haha. We are keen to develop our own but it'll take a bit of time to get it right and improve on what's out there. It'll happen though! 🙂 I'm going to update the discount before then to work with belt and leash combos...
I love it dude. Anything you put out is incredible content! Honestly no one does first ride vids like @skillswithphil but your tech dh stuff is unmatched. Thank you! Keep em coming!!
How does the Claymore handle under braking? I’ve read it has a fairly high anti-rise number … so it should squat a bit under braking. Curious how you find it … Claymore is on my list for my next frame.
If you were on a Canyon, a proprietary part could break and Canyon doesn't keep spares of their own proprietary parts. This means you would be stranded without a bike indefinitely and you could never ride sweet trails like these
I wish the government would pay for my local trails, all of ours are volunteer maintained so it gets shitty quick and stays that way until we all get out there and fix them.

Thank you Dale for the shoutout! I loved the episode, and looks like you timed it for some tacky conditions 😁. Hope to shred with you some day 🤟🏼
"I'm not much of a jump guy" and then proceeds to jump with no issue. Wish I had that confidence lol.
Took me only 25 years to get it. 🫠
@@DaleStone LOL.
I’m honestly loving the first ride vid, much more than the usual super high speed polished stuff, it just feels more real

For all the small bc towns out there, If ya build it, we will come.
The discovery rides are defo a lot of fun to watch, its nice seeing how you approach stuff you've never ridden before.
First ride videos are great! It’s cool to see the thought process that you go through when talking a new trail/feature.
As I am here because I like your riding style and the way you comment just the right amount while riding I really enjoy every video you make. So keep up the good work🙏
I dig getting to see you ride blind and still nail it and have genuine fun lol. I vote yes to vacation/first ride vids

Wow! 100% a perfect use of public money. Those are some interesting/amazing trails, amazing. Money well spend.

Thank you for both!
I like the first ride style videos, makes for some interesting commentary and you still ride the trails better than I ever would
I love your videos. They're a pleasure to watch regardless of where or what you're riding. Great views and good rider is hard to top!

What an amazing place!! Great riding and video as always!
Great trail network, wish we had something similar nearby. I do like these first sight videos and seeing the process of scouting and riding.

Honestly it was hard to tell that you didn’t know the trails well 😅
Thanks for sharing, that place looks rad!
That was really fun to watch. I loved your “Skills with Dale” moment while sessioning that jump section.

For someone who doesn't know what he's doing, you killed it.
Another sick ride Dale. Best regards from Calgary AB. Cheers 🍻

great riding there bud looking forward to the next vid
This is an incredible video and trail system. Nice work!

First ride videos are the best!
I dig this kind of content, Dale! If the rest of your audience supports it, then hells yeah! More of this! :)
A few more planned!
The thought of the British government paying for a Bikepark 😂😂😂
Wicked video, thanks Dale!
I like any and all videos. Doesn’t matter how or what you’re riding I just want to see it .

I appreciate that a lot, but you absolutely must try it out someday! 🥲
Dale please make review on the TRP DH-R EVO brakes
One day maybe!
Damn you make snakehole look like it's nothing. Those dirtjumps and the on off feature at the end are HUGE
I was very out of my element, but trusting the builders paid off! 📈

I actually have a full video on Pandemic from a few years ago! Definitely my favourite trail on the island... so far. Very keen to return to BB! 🙂
That looks so fun

The Hayes retest is coming, but I have a few more interesting brake videos in the pipeline before then. 😉
Sick! That alt line on On the Rocks is steeep
Very steep, but also very fun!
You'll need to come back for the new trails they've put together
I believe the new trail opened about 3 days after I was on the island, haha. Would be fun to return for sure!

I didn't actually, it just gets better and better!!
Reminds me so much of Duthie in WA!
Geographic neighbours!
What a great park!
" Oh yah, wow ehhh!? " . at 11mins 58 secs - That's Canada right there, ladies and gentlemen.
Caught red handed. 🫡🇨🇦
@@DaleStone " Awesome ! " 😁
Such a perfectionist. I just go ride and hope I don't eat shit lol

Yeah. The north shore and surrounding mountains don’t make me feel confident on flow trails either. But love it all anyway.
Exactly haha, bikes are fun!
That's awesome!

If I had the time to run two channels to a meaningful degree I definitely would haha, maybe one day!
Lewis LH4 Nebula test?? I'd buy it "used" after your test :D
very soon!
Don´t overthink to much, unclassify your filming. We gonna watch everything on your channel. 😄
Off topic (love your videos, but as you are your own sponsor), any plans for a harness? Prefer that on my dog to a collar.

I have no complaints in that regard. I think that reading into details like that is usually overthinking with modern bikes. 🙂
@@DaleStone thanks! I had heard it mention in two reviews (Loam wolf and McTrailrider) and then I looked it up
The government doing something proper for once
That's alotta money for metal fences
I don't specifically remember any metal fences...
Hmmm, I didn't get a notification about your new vid. Weird. When Remy x Dale collab?
haha, don't hold your breath! Remy and I ride bikes for very different reasons. 🙂
Sweet
