    Thank you it helped so much...I'm an absolute beginner. I had the plain and purl mixed up so it was helpful to hear which one to look out for much better than having to stop and count...I will give it a go

    Helpful video. It makes it easy to see where you are when you explain the V's and bars and can tell what the stitches are. Thanks for the clear video and light-colored yarn too.

    • @lovecraftscom
      @lovecraftscom  3 года назад

      Hi Ellis! I always think it helps so much to be able to read your knitting so that you learn what the next stitch needs to be! We will keep using light coloured yarn if it helps!! Sending love and knitting wishes, from Merion and the LoveCrafts team x

    Yes it is helpful. I think learning knit & reading knit, is easier with the chunky yarn. I have a hard time seeing my stitches with smaller gauge needles and thinner yarn. (I’m very new/learning knitting). I have difficulty with the purl especially if I’ve been knitting for a bit, probably good exercise to do the 2x2’s. Muscle memory! Thank you.

    • @lovecraftscom
      @lovecraftscom  5 лет назад

      Oh absolutely! It is very important to be able to see the stitches - especially when you start out.Chunky yarn is therefore perfect! With time and practise it will all come more natural to you and exploring different yarn weights will be a lot of fun! yay
      Happy knitting!

      Hi Alexis, you can use any cast on you like! So row one is shown in the video (I have already cast the stitches on). You can knit as many rows as you need. Hope that helps! Kindest, Merion

  • @k.embers
    @k.embers 5 лет назад +1

    When you start row 2, I assume you start in knit stitch again? (Sorry if it’s obvious to others. I’m a beginner still.)

    • @lovecraftscom
      @lovecraftscom  5 лет назад

      Hey Kaley, that is a really good question! So if you follow our video you would start Row 2 with a knit stitch again- you're absolutely right here! If you are however having a different amount of stitches on your needles and you end with two knit stitches you would then need to start with two purl stitches on the other side. What helped me, when I started out, was to familiarise myself with the look of the knit and purl stitch so you always know which one comes next by just looking at the work you have already done! :)
      Happy making!

    Very helpful, I'm knitting a lampshade cover. Forgotten how to knit 2x2 rib for a period. Now after watching your video, I can start to knit 2x2 rib patt. I need to work every st in 2x2 rib patt from Rows 2-5 on my project.
    So I just followed the instructions 2K & 2P from your video. Am I right? Please advise

    My yarn keeps getting to tight

    • @lovecraftscom
      @lovecraftscom  2 года назад

      Hi Honeybee, sounds like your yarn is getting tight because you're pulling it, and this could be because a) you are feeling a bit tense, or b) because your personal tension is quite tight. If you know that you're a tight knitter (and lots of people are!) the best way to cope with that is go up a needle size - and that will keep your stitches the right size for a project. Happy knitting with love from Merion and the LoveCrafts team xx
