It one-shot both Klawf and Orthworm’s first phases with Low Kick (which helps since they’re probably heavy) and two-shot their second phases. Then for Iron Treads, it was a two-shot and three-shot, respectively, while it was TWELVE LEVELS LOWER!

I mean I don't feel like it's truly executed well. The inspirations are always great, but then you look at the design and ask "this thing is based on bomber planes... how?". It doesn't literally have to be a plane, but, like.. give it SOMETHING y'know? Otherwise it is just a basic stork, just like flamigo is just a flamingo.

16:00 Storks are associated with birth in Europe because they leave continent at fall and come back home at spring - the rebirth season to lay eggs and raise their children. As they make their large nests not in forest but often in villages and other human settlements, on roofs and chimneys there is clear connection. If a stork pair decide to build their nest on your roof, that means they bless you with fertility.

Quite a bit of the Ancient Egyptian abjad had animals representing their letters (there were no written vowels aside from their version of the letter "A"-a vulture-representing the glottal stop). Of the phonographs, six were animals: "A", "F", "J", "L", "M" and "W"; which were written as a vulture, horned viper, snake, lion, owl and quail chick respectively.

I think that there is a missing a piece of the puzzle on Bombirdier. Throughout Europe storks are known for occasionally nesting on people's rooves. They can then be a nuisance for passers by as they throw waste nest material and other objects off the roof onto the ground, which could hit somebody if they weren't careful.

One thing that wasn’t mentioned about Squawkabilly that I think is really cool is that the type of parakeet that it’s based on is an invasive species, which ties into its rockabilly/Elvis look, as Elvis helped to popularize rock and roll, which was thought to be “invading” the culture of the general public at the time.

It's interesting how Flamigo is called the Synchronize Pokémon despite not having Synchronize as an ability. I'd like to think that Bombirdier might be inspired by Secretary birds too, hence its Dark type. It has the same black and white colors and even the same crest behind its head.
Secretary birds are also known as Killer Queens and once they kill a prey (which are mainly snakes) they start to dance on it, which is pretty dark.
Moreover, it is an African bird of prey and Bombirdier is not the only one based on African animale, think of Rabsca mainly based on the Egyptian God Khepri and Espathra which name comes from Cleopatra.

Funny you decided to get do a bird trio recently becuase I had been thinking about a different trio recently.
Unova had introduced three 2 stage lines of Bird Pokemon, the Braiviary, Mandibuzz and Swanna lines. They are based off an Eagle, Swan and Vulture. I think they might be worth a deep dive as it seems a bit too deliberate (esp since two of them are version counterparts) and I think they might be based off a certain set of constellations comprising the Summer Triangle (though Mandibuzz's case is a bit more complex as it doesn't resemble the respective constellation at first. AFAIK Lyra is seen as a vulture in the Arabian world)

    • @tetravega567
      @tetravega567 8 месяцев назад +1

The Vulture/Eagle thing is actually ancient. The oldest depictions of Lyra are of a Vulture not an Eagle.
All the positive & noble attributes the Vulture had were transferred to the Eagle and negative Human superstitions arose around Vulture's eating the dead. Even various Bible translations changed Nasr to mean Eagle instead of Vulture.

Hey, I like Flamigo. One of it's TCG cards features the "United Wings" attack, which is a re-tread of the "Night March" attack, where it gets more powerful for every Pokemon in your discard with "United Wings". Also, on play, it can search three other Flamigos from your deck, perfect to discard to some cards like Ultra Ball. While it doesn't have the critical mass needed to be a true meta threat, Night March decks certainly were, so there's hope that Flamigo can be the face of a new deck.

Personally, Bombirdier also reminds me a lot of Japanese/Asian cranes and how they're depicted... which, I'm pretty sure storks and cranes are closely related, so there's that, although I might be completely on the wrong track with that, since I don't think any of Bombirdiers traits really fit with Japanese tales about cranes, the only one I can think of is of the thankful crane, I think it was called "Tsurugaeshi-no-Onna" in Japanese, a crane whose life gets saved by a human, so unbeknownst to him she transforms into a human woman, approaches him and marries him, making beautiful dresses night after night to sell, while forbidding her husband from watching, only for him to eventually get too curious and watch her at work to discover she was a crane and for her to fly away. You can maybe attribute stuff like the bib to the story, or the dropping of rocks as a "return gift" of sorts, but overall that story probably plays no role in Bombirdiers design.

See that’s everyone’s problem you go based on reactionary impressions
If you aren’t feeling the design you decide it sucks in the first five seconds of looking at it
Maybe if you sit down with the design you get used to it you get to know it you get accustomed and more comfortable around it you would come around to it
Don’t be afraid to let it grow on you if you don’t like it at first
That’s what I did when I first saw greninja in a leak
It was in its hunched over pose and it wasn’t at all what I wanted or pictured
But I stuck with froakie anyway and I grew to absolutely loving greninja
People should Stop dismissing starters or any Pokémon just because they seem like bad designs at first
They aren’t bad designs they are just so different than what you are used to and what you expected you just need time to let them grow on you
It’s literally an allegory for preserving nature
