The High Numbers...then The Detours..Still got my signed copy of 'I can't explain' I bought from Pete at The Ealing Club.
According to Richard Barnes in his book "The Who: Maximum R & B", they were The Detours first (with drummer Doug Sandom), then Keith replaced Doug and they were The Who, then they met Pete Meaden and were the High Numbers for a few months in 1964 before changing back to being The Who.
Nah, just a another white rip off of black American artists! This time it’s The Dynamics - Misery ruclips.net/video/9_1WVDVSxN0/видео.html
@@agrosoulstylist you are right but was it stealing or honoring the artists who influence you? Most wrongdoing in the music business at this era we are referring to was done by the record labels
I think if anything the bands of the 60s exposed teenagers to music they wouldn't have necessarily heard on their own
How much do you want for it? 😉
WHAT?????!!!!????
Now this is just pure mods wow Cmon the mods
Keith Moon really was an ace drummer before the drink and drugs caught up with him. Perfect rhythm and those lightning fast fills are flawless.
A bit like the Beach Boys in the way the song describes a lifestyle. And specific details about how and what you wear. For teen culture these kind of lyrics are perfect. Plus a great tune. Perfect.
fuckin mod classic
As mod as it gets.❤
You can't keep still when this is on ❤
My brother got me into the mod scene in the early mid 80s only 15-16ish in Edinburgh and loved the kids ar alright, We are the mods and the high numbers I gotta dance from crying
Impresionante !!!!!!!!
E foda

They may have taken the melody from Misery by The Dynamics. But it works superbly
Bomb 👊😎🍻
im more of a hip hop type of person... but cmon!! you have to enjoy this, always!!
Toniod252 They seem like clashing genera
Ginger Ann music is music is music.
@Ginger Ann Without this stuff there'd be no Hip Hop, and I'm 40 years deep in Hip Hop culture and a Mod throughout, Hip Hop is a mash-up of everything that came before it.. well it was, where it's gone these days none of us recognise
@oldskoolfool141 I absolutely love Mod music but I dunno how much it shaped hip hop tbh.
Amazing how tattoos, sweatpants and hoodies have become the preferred fashion of today's mainstream.
dont get down about it, it will change as everything such as this does. besides there are still plenty folk around not dressing in sweats and hoodies :)
I wouldn't be seen in public in sweat pants.
It's all started in 1970s if not in 1960s already. Life temp was getting faster and faster
and things became more and more..crude i would say.
@d R right, if I’m feeling lazy I’ll go out in sweatpants. Doesn’t mean anything. I have a pair of boots that cost more than an entire wardrobe but just because I wear sweatpants in public, doesn’t mean I’m a dirt bag. Don’t always have to dress up to go out. I probably rock sweatpants better than most wear jeans or slacks anyways! Lol & I guarantee I’m comfier!
Plus Motley Crue, blink 182, Ozzy, Green Day, Guns N’ Roses all have tattoos. It’s not just this generation. & Tattoos were more popular in the 70’s/80’s than they are now.
immense
thank for the sharing
The Beatles and The Who are the best!!!!...the UK should have stayed with this sound....60s and 70s Best Rock Ever!!!!
I'd put The Kinks above The Who, but that's me.
I can’t even imagine a world without mods.
Heyyyy Mods!
Session man Ernie Shears played guitar on this top tune, not Jimmy Page who a lot of people assume !!!
Well wasn't Jimmy Page like a decade later?
@@ruth4376 Jimmy played the Solo of "Can't explain" for sure
I'm the Face that's no lies 🤥
The Dynamics “Misery” brought me here

Apart from Pete and Roger, who can identify themselves in this footage?
Denise Hulme sitting right next to Pete Townsend down at the Railway Hotel Harrow and Wealdstone where the Who were first discovered

Is Daltry on rhythm guitar?
The...WHO???
Did they record this again for Quadrophinia ?
No.
@@brucechelemer328 I can swear I've heard another version of this song. Slower and more "Modern" sounding.
@@SalAvenueNJ that could be, but it's not on Quadrophenia, album or soundtrack.
@SalAveNU You're not far off.. the song "Cut My Hair" on Quadrophenia and this song share the same line: "Zoot suit, white jacket with side vents five inches long"
The First Mod's Ever!
The mods began in 1958
That would have been the small faces
@@iandavies6575 total wrong ! Small Faces *1965 and the High Numbers/the who *1964.
But i like both.
Did Pete play guitar on this record?
I'm guessing he played the rhythm part only but I'm not sure hmm
Where's this ENGLAND gone?
Labour destroyed it.
Rob thatcher destroyed it
yeah...
Older people in the early 1960s looked at these kids and asked, "Where has OUR England gone?"
We give it all away for immigrants and political correctness ....Sad to think we was once envied around the world but they just feel pity for us now !
Who?
We are mods!
