I know it's like every time I get worried he posts, but let's not rush him cause obviously this takes time especially when things like computer crashes happen
alright, this might not work for the plans you have for this game, but how about: you are an AI created to control a harvester robot the point of the game is to collect recources on a planet / in a solar system, after that you go back to some sort of space station / hub were you can buy upgrades, new weapons and gear. with this new equipment you can take on more difficult foes and maybe even go to other places / planets. "recources" could be gathered from hunting, mining, foraging and fighting the big robots. since you are a robot, the equipment system could make a lot of sense. love your work, you are extremely underrated.
I don't know why but your devlogs are so inspiring that everytime I finish watching one of them I immediatly rush into Unity and start making stuff... Keep it up man, amazing videos and amazing game :D Oh and by the way, I think the chicken dinosaur is now one of my favourite things in your game
You gotta show off the end results more, man! I love what you're doing, but I didn't get to see enough of those lovely creatures walking around at the end! Also, maybe the wildlife could interact with each other, like the t-rex chicken chases the snow elephants? Just a thought
Idea: you could add carnivore wild life in to the game that will attack the other creatures and the player. Amazing game BTW I believe this game is going to become something wonderful.
I love the learning process, it shows that with a good amount of effort even if you aren't too confident in your skills you can achieve some amazing results.
A good trick/hint to resolve level design problems with climbing is stamina. Put a stamina/time to climb! Nice work man, continue like that and I'll buy your game some day (I hope soon).
I would love to see a feature in this game in which you could tame the alien creatures and maybe even train them to fight alongside you or after taming them they fight alongside you by following your orders. I would also love a feature , in which some animals will attack you if you attack them while others would run away if you attack them.
This was really interesting to watch. Its kind of exciting whit the claiming and I feel like its gets a little bit of exploration to it. I also love that you keep explaining how you do stuff and what you use. I feel like that when you talk about what tools you use its a help for anyone who wants to make a game themselves ^^ Keep up the good work and see you again in the next month. I am excited
These devlogs get better and better seriously keep up the amazing work Some ideas: - make the snow elephant move slower and make his legs move smaller to make him feel bigger :) -grapple with the arms would be amazing -make some chests that give you coins or guns? Again amazing work 👍
"snail elephant" I actually REALLY like that description. I honestly have little to no idea how to come up with original creatures, but I remember hearing that all imaginary creatures are either just off versions of real creatures, or amalgamations of things from various real creatures. so this gave me an "ah-ha!" moment :)
That's all looking really great. I love what you've done with the terrain shader. I've been meaning to upgrade my terrain shader for a while, and this is motivating me to try again soon...
I've been watching your dev vlogs for a long time now. You're doing a great job, keep it up. Ideas are fresh, but also understandable. And I love ROR2 aesthetic in your builds. Good job and good luck
Hey dude, looking awesome! really love watching the game grow, esp the addition of the new creatures :) a quick tip I learned when starting to dive into level design is to keep in mind the size of spaces. the easiest thing to make your levels feel a lot more professional is basically cut the size of everything in half. if you look at your clip from 1:45 you could probably reduce the size of everything by 50% and still have it feel roomy. that way you will also have a lot more contrast, or"wow" factor for the player when you actually open something up for a truly large space or huge boss like your giant spider for example. Anyhow, hope this was helpful and good luck!
Thanks for the feedback! Appreciate it! Haha in the past I always made my levels way to small so now I'm often afraid they'll turn out too small. You're definitely right though the level is perhaps a bit too large :)
Just an idea, you might want to add in some sort of surface that the player can't climb on, this will allow you to make certain area's player can't skip through, platforming area's including vertical platforming and maybe even armour for the robots to stop the player climbing all over them till they shoot it off. but its looking good so far.
You make so much progress in each devlog! It sucks that you don't gain much traction because there only monthly, but if I were to guess I think your going to blow up soon. Don't forget me when your famous!
Really love your content!! I also have an idea for the creature form. when he is a creature, the guy should be able to communicate with animals and this could be used for the plot of the game. you could also ask animals for help.
You are another gem on this platform which now i look up to.... Heck you are an inspiration man....Really love this game and the way you making your videos reminds me of Fat Dino(he is another game dev on youtube, he uses unreal engine) you really sound like him and uses the same type of music really
This is amazing! I can't wait to see how this all turns out. You're really making great progress. You should think about doing a tutorial series for the entire dev process. It would be very popular!
Wow can’t wait to play this game! Looks awesome! one animation tip: Most heavy weight animals only lift one foot at the time. This also looks awesome btw.
I love your dedication so much! The amount of consideration you put into all of this is astonishing, I can't wqit to play this gem! I would love to see some sort of a high risk high reward gun for people who are really good at aiming. It could me something simple like double damage but self damage and additionally removed bullets from the magazine on miss
This all looks so fun! You actually seem really really good at level design and I think that this would be way way over my head to script. One thing: I think that the animal movements are a little bit too "snappy" or fast. This isn't a big deal, but if you made them a little bit slower to make them seem like they have more realistic weight this might improve it a little; other than that you don't really have to change anything else in my opinion! :D
Hello! You mention that you were worried about your levels being too focused on just running and shooting. This is just a suggestion that might help make your "indoor/building" level designs more interesting. Players basically have free 360 movent because of your climbing mechanic, so when building your buildings, You might want to take inspiration from the M. C. Escher painting Relativity. Using this painting as inspiration for the buildings would help give that "alien" look and feel to the designs as well as making sure that your walls/ceilings wouldn't just be flat but have variation. Maybe you read this, maybe this comment gets lost in the sea of other comments. either way, This game is looking great! Glad to see this dev-log after a long period of inactivity. Can't wait for more!
I want air ducts to climb through, the movement just screams to have it. Also maybe some things that can only be accessed from the ceiling. Looking awesome so far.
The game seems very fun reminds me a bit of Risk of Rain 2. I don't if you can add this but a grappling gun would be neat, and the player just stretches his arm to grab
Hey guys thanks for watching! Subscribe to see more devlogs! Also let me know if you have any feedback on the game or on the video! :)

I love how living creatures are basically random animals mixed with a snail.

Damn, with that tracking of your laptop to add smoke I realized how much effort you put into your videos
Haha glad you noticed! literally took half a weekend for a 3 second clip lol

my philosophy for level design is essentialy;
Teach a mechanic
Test the players’ skills
Teach a new mechanic
Combine
Repeat
And as always the editing is great, I just hope it does not take you too much time.
