I am a retired hairdresser and this is the best bun tutorial on the net, believe me. The way she uses the sock is key. I've seen no one else do this. Smart young lady.

Ikr...everyone else rolls the sock into a complete donut and then tuck the hair as they roll it down, she pulls the sock all the way up to cover the hair, tucks in the ends and then rolls it down....so simple. Thanks Kier Mellour!!

Try tucking a little more hair so it's not at the very end, does that make sense? like tuck the last 2 inches all at once and roll, then spread the hair as you work down.. you can spray your hair with hairspray or that spray I am using and brush it through your pony tail to make it easier to work with.

      Don't use a sock.
Put your hair in a ponytail, and then gather all ends of your hair. Place that in a small ponytail as well. Then grab both lose ends right below the bottom elastic, and start rolling towards your head.
Continue to rol until it sits as a bun on your head.
Just secure with a couple Bobby pins, or another elastic.

Please do that Kier. A lot of us are still having heaps of trouble despite understanding the process.
I'm so bad at anything to do with my hair and I was hoping this could be an exception for something I could actually do. It makes sense and even looks easy. I don't know if I have bad hair or just bad hand coordination, or both, but short of putting my hair into a simple ponytail I can't do ANYTHING.

Honestly the best sock bun tutorial I've seen! Bc the other videos don't suggest leaving some "tube" of the sock to hold in layers... awesome idea!! &&& u just tuck in the tip of your hair to start and others say to spread it around at first which I found to be very hard with layers and holding all sides under at once.! Thank you so much!

Thank you, all the other methods were difficult to get in for me and I had to try 5-6 times just to get it and it would still be loose and messy. This worked for me on the first try and it feels so much tighter and secure than the other methods. Thanks a lot. 😄

I am 42 and I used to use hair spray (Big Bangs) in the mid -late 80's. Other than that no product, little to no work on my hair compared to an average girl. I brush and regular pony tail or basic bun and go. (Wash of course!) Have no clue what any of these bun/pony tails are called! I started watching these hair videos to find a good video to help my husband and son be able to put my hair up for me because it is long and I just had shoulder surgery. During my search I came across this! I love this idea! Cute and Elegant ! Can be sporty too, I guess? Easy to understand and no expensive materials!

I never heard of this so always looking for tips putting up my hip length hair fast and no fuss. Okay so I cut up one of my sons sports socks shhh. My first go was hard but it did somewhat work. So at it again, this time taking my time when rolling it and spreading it out. Well I be a bella at the ball right now!! As it came out fab!! No hairpins either harahhh!!. I gave it a few other ways that also worked. Lower on the nape of neck Looks really nice. Splitting it so it's a small bun and hair flowing. Adding scarfs, clips and flower in the center. But here is something really cool I got a dollar store long pearl necklace and cut it. Placed one end under the hairband and while pulling my hair did so with the now cut one strand of pearls while rolling it.Spreading it out with hair and pearls. And WOW it pearlized the bun!!! Oh I feel like Cinderella now haha. I am now happy I came here!! So gals don't give up!! Thanks Kier you made my hair routine super fast and pretty. Xx
