    I don't give a toss about all that darn raving about on digital sound. Absolutely nothing will touch the elegant sophistication of analog on a Nak CR-7A.
    ...just nothing
    (in my rule book, at least)
    what an amazing experience.
    thank you for posting.

      @@maxfactor4209 why you think tdk D is rubbish?

    • @_____.__
      @_____.__ 2 года назад

      @@filippocara0510 Probably because it was Type I, cheap tape. Type I tapes were never meant for high quality recording due to their limitations. At least Type II or Type IV for the best results were the way to go. However, the tapes are more of a fetish now, nothing can beat modern Hi-Res digital recording.

    I have a CR-7A purchased new 30 years ago and it is a great deck. It has been serviced several times and those rollers do indeed dry out, especially if the deck isn't used frequently. Mine does have a vented top.

      I was amazed at what a well-maintained, well-calibrated Dolby S machine can get out of the basic ferrics like TDK D, Sony HF or Maxell UR.
      If the tape is of consistent quality and you have a good deck, you will have great sound quality.

      @@GREENTICKETRO the thing about using Noise Reduction is that you can lower the recording level and thus also harmonic distortion when recording while maintaining the dynamic range without sacrificing the analog sound. Dolby S is really amazing when it's properly aligned.

    TDK D is definitely one of the best cheap type 1 cassette out there. I have quite a few mixtape recorded on these. Just once criticism though. You should really just leave the monitoring to tape throughout the video because it's the sound from the cassette we're interested in. Pretty sure the source would already sounds good.

    The recording is missing high frequencies at all. Same for low. Very flat sound. Nothing to compare or hear. I have Akai CS-M02 fully recapped with Nichikon. It has a better sound... However the same missing high frequencies tune-up.

      Drop the bias a touch, but reduce the level slightly too. It’ll improve hf performance but less forgiving if the level goes to distortion momentary
